HPNLU offers 5 years B.A.LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B courses at the undergraduate level and LLM at the postgraduate level. Apart from this it also offers Ph.D in law at the doctorate level. HPNLU Admission is strictly based on national level entrance exams.

For B.A. LL.B. or BBA. LL.B, the minimum qualification required for admission is 10 + 2 or equivalent from a recognized educational institution, along with obtaining the Cutoff marks in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
For LLM, the minimum qualification required for admission is a 5-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level or equivalent from a recognized institution or university along with obtaining the Cutoff marks in CLAT-PG entrance exam.
For Ph.D, the minimum qualification required for admission is LLM from a recognised institution or university, along with obtaining the Cut Off marks in the Entrance Test.

Is it worth joining Himachal Pradesh National law University

What I Liked

The campus is located at a very peaceful location surrounded by mountains. It provides a nice environment for studying and learning.
the college life is fun. The pressure of studying is not much and so you can indulge in other extracurricular activities. The gym is very well-equipped and I like going to the gym everyday.

What I didn’t like

The faculty (not all, but some) are very much below average. Some of them do not have any sense of how education must be imparted and yet continue to teach. Some of them do not have enough knowledge of the subject. I dislike this a lot.
The facilities, for example the sports facilities, are very poor. The gym is good, but apart from that there aren't many other facilities for sports. All sports are played in a parking space in the college and different sports are played on alternate days.

Remarks:

The admission was done through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). I got a rank around 5000, but I had the state domicile reservation and so got the admission. There was no group discussion or anything else. I choose the college merely because the NLU tag seemed tempting and the college was in my home city. No other factors really appealed to me at the time of admission.

HPNLU REVIEW.

What I Liked

The one thing i like about the college is that college has a good library.
Constantly moot court and ADR competitions happen which gives great exposure.

What I didn’t like

The hostels are outside the campus so it is not easy to travel.
The administration is not so good. There is a lot of corruption going on.

Remarks:

There were many factors Location is so beautiful. It is heaven for the mountain lovers. This is one of the fastest growinh NLU. Faculty is so good. University gives so many options like moot competitions, ADR competitions and many more.

The reality of HPNLU

What I Liked

The college is an nlu, hence this offers us a number of opportunities for becoming good lawyers and achieving decent and stable income. The law firms are open to offer PPOs if one is hardworking and competent enough. The college provides access to the NLU network which is a great opportunity to sharpen various skills such as mooting, debating, arbitration and dispute resolution etc. The infrastructure is good , noval and advanced.
The faculty is competent as well as permanent and supportive, which makes it a good experience overall. The campus life with various committees and clubs becomes interesting and happening.

What I didn’t like

The college infrastructure does not provide exposure to great sports activities and other perks such as fests, events , etc.
Even the placements and internship opportunities are not up to the mark and campus life is below average. The overall value for money doesn't seem to be vibrant.

Remarks:

The college is a National Law University, which is among the most prestigious law institutes of the country, it is located in the hills, which makes it visibly scenic. Also the admission is done after conducting an all india examination called CLAT. The college is a part of the consortium of NLUs, that provides admission in all these 25 NLUs. The access to a government college, access to the NLU network and the induction of various other legal skill was something that I considered before choosing this college.

Life at Nlu shimla

What I Liked

The view is great and you get to live in very quiet and happening place full of greenery.
Professors are very helpful and experienced along. Here locals of village are also very helpful and they are very good people

Remarks:

I have appeared in clat 2023 and got a rank of 3911. I ever wanted to be a lawyer earlier because its sophistication fascinated me a lot but now this national law university taught me a lot more about the field and its functioning. I am looking forward to completing 3 more years of upcoming joy in learning ‘a law’ and ‘the law’ in this beautiful university located at Shimla.
