PSGCAS Admission Dates 2027

PSGCAS Courses and Fees

PSGCAS runs more than 50 UG and PG courses. Aided UG seats cost much less than self-financing seats, even when the course belongs to the same department.

B.Sc Visual Communication, Costume and Fashion Technology, and Catering Science and Hotel Management are self-financing courses with a vocational focus. B.Voc courses in Banking, Food Processing, IT Networking, and Tourism and Hospitality are skill-based UG options offered with the regular degree stream.

PSGCAS Admission Process

Admission to PSGCAS depends mainly on marks in the qualifying exam. UG selection is based on Class 12 marks, while most PG courses use graduation marks. MCA may also need an entrance test. M.Phil and PhD admission includes a written test and interview at the department level.

UG Admission (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA)

For UG courses, students do not have to take an entrance exam. PSGCAS prepares selection lists from Class 12 aggregate marks or subject-wise cutoff marks.

• Eligibility: Students must pass Class 12 with at least 55% marks, while some self-financing courses accept 50%
• Stage 1: Complete online registration on the PSGCAS admission portal
• Stage 2: Wait for the merit list based on Class 12 aggregate or subject-specific cutoff marks
• Stage 3: Attend allotment and certificate verification at the college
• Stage 4: Pay the fee to confirm the allotted seat

Aided BA and B.Sc cutoffs are calculated from qualifying subject marks. Since these seats have much lower fees than self-financing seats, competition is strong. Tamil Nadu Class 12 board marks are the main basis for selection.

PG Admission (MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MCA, MSW)

For PG courses, PSGCAS checks marks in the qualifying degree. MCA applicants may have to appear for an entrance test. A graduation degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks is required.

M.Phil and PhD applicants need a PG degree with at least 55% marks. They must also clear a department-level written test and interview.

Reservation and Cutoff Context

Tamil Nadu government reservation rules apply to aided seats at PSGCAS. In earlier admission cycles, OC (General) cutoffs for popular aided B.Sc and B.Com courses were usually between 90% and 96% on the basis of Class 12 aggregate marks. Cutoffs for self-financing B.Com and BBA courses are generally lower.

PSGCAS Placements

In the 2025 placement cycle, PSGCAS had more than 200 companies on campus and recorded over 2,100 job offers. The number of students receiving packages of INR 5 LPA and above was 419. The highest offer was above INR 14 LPA.

Deloitte, EY, Bosch, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, Amazon, HDFC Bank, Reliance and Biocon are among the recruiters linked with PSGCAS placements. Many students from the arts and science stream also choose postgraduate study, civil services preparation or teaching along with placement opportunities.

PSGCAS Rankings

PSG College of Arts and Science has stayed within the top 20 in the NIRF College rankings for five straight years. In 2025, it secured the #10 national rank in the college category with a NIRF score of 73.15.

The college has NAAC A++ accreditation, the highest grade on the NAAC scale. UGC also recognises PSGCAS as a College with Potential for Excellence (CPE). It was one of the first autonomous colleges in Tamil Nadu to receive A++ status.

PSGCAS Scholarships

Students at PSGCAS can apply for government and institutional scholarship support. SC, ST and OBC students in aided programmes get fee concessions or full fee waivers as per Tamil Nadu government rules. NSP schemes are available to students whose parental income is within the required limit.

Students admitted to Tamil Nadu government-aided seats already pay low fees, whether or not they receive a scholarship. Scholarship support matters more for students in self-financing courses because those fees are higher.

PSGCAS Campus and Infrastructure

PSG College of Arts and Science is based in Peelamedu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, which is a major education area in the city. The campus has grown over more than seven decades and includes science laboratories, a central library, computer centres and sports facilities.

The college is part of the larger PSG education network in Coimbatore, which also includes PSG College of Technology and PSG Institute of Management. PSGCAS has separate departments for its 50+ programmes, along with specialised labs for biotechnology, microbiology, electronics, visual communication and fashion technology. Hostel facilities are available for male and female students.

PSG College of Arts and Science vs Kongunadu Arts and Science College vs Sri Krishna Arts and Science College

Students looking at autonomous arts and science colleges in Coimbatore often compare PSGCAS with Kongunadu Arts and Science College (KASC) and Sri Krishna Arts and Science College (SKASC). All three colleges are autonomous and affiliated to Bharathiar University.

PSGCAS has the stronger position in national ranking, with NIRF #10, and also has the higher accreditation grade of A++. It is older than the other two colleges and offers low-cost aided seats. Kongunadu and Sri Krishna Arts and Science College may offer more seats and lower admission cutoffs. Students who give more weight to placement volume and hostel options should compare all three colleges closely.
