Eligibility Criteria For PhD Programme

To be eligible for PhD admission at Bharathiar University, candidates are required to:-

  • Hold a Master's degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade from a recognized university.
  • Have a professional degree declared equivalent to a Master's degree by a statutory regulatory body.
  • Meet the specific eligibility criteria for their chosen department or discipline.
  • Be employed or have a minimum of two years of experience in a relevant field (for part-time Ph.D. candidates).
  • Qualify for the Common Eligibility Test (CET) conducted by Bharathiar University (for candidates registering for Ph.D. without fellowship).

Admission Procedure For PhD Programme

  • The University will notify admission for the Ph.D. program through its website and national/regional/local newspapers.
  • Candidates will be selected through a two-stage process: a Common Eligibility Test (CET) and an interview.
  • Candidates who qualify for UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, SLET, SET, GATE, or possess an M.Phil. degree are exempt from CET.
  • The CET will be an objective-type test with 50 multiple-choice questions, and candidates must score a minimum of 15 marks out of 50.
  • The final selection will be based on the candidate's performance in CET, interview, and availability of vacancies with research supervisors.
