OVERVIEW OF GCET JAMMU

What I Liked

The library is well built.The teachers are very highly qualified ,polite,helpful and decent.
The campus life is good but you need to a wonderful group of friends.I like the greenery and openarea inside the college especially in the winters.

What I didn’t like

The faculty is careless in informing about upcoming events such as TCS codevita . The infrastucture isn't good at all.
The campus isn't maintained at all.Sports infrastrucutre isn't good at all as it needs to be built from the scratch.The campus life is ok types only.There is no proper canteen inside the campus.

Placement Experience:

The placement and job oppurtunities at our college are very less.Most of the students have to go for off-campus placements. The eligibility criteria for placements is that the student shouldn't have any back in any subject in any of the semesters until that are held till that time. There is only one recruiter,i.e, PISOFT. The highest package offered is 300000/- per annum and the average being 150000/- per annum. The percentage of students getting placed is 2 percent.

Internships Opportunities:

I opted for internship at CIIIT,TATA TECHNOLOGIES in my 4th semester and at CRIME DEPARTMENT OF POLICE in th 6th semester. In 4th semester, I made a project named WEATHER MONITOR based on IOT(INTERNET OF THINGS) at CIIIT. There are mostly online internships being offered by our college and the offline ones are just one or two.

GCET JAMMU : Heaven for engineering in Jammu.

What I Liked

The thing I like most about the college is the constant support offered by the faculty.
Think I like about this college is the campus life . As the campus is situated on the bank of river chenab , the Scenic view from the college campus is very Serene.

What I didn’t like

The thing I dislike about my college is the location of the college campus , the campus is situated very far from the main city , we face too many problems in reaching the campus on time as the transport facility is very poor .
The canteen in our college is not very good. If we need to buy anything we have to go to distant spot to buy.

Placement Experience:

Students should have no active backlog to be eligible to sit in placement drives. The companies that visit to recruit the students include last and the companies that visit to recruit students include L&T, Whitehouse Ltd., etc. The number of offers made by them is not too much but lies somewhere between 40 and 50. The highest package offered to students was 6.5 LPA last year, and the average package was about 3.5 LPA. Around 20 to 30% of students get placed in the on-campus drives. My plans after getting the degree will be to prepare for UPSC CSE.

Internships Opportunities:

No private company comes to our college to make offers for internships. The students themselves have to approach the companies for internships. As I am a student of the civil branch, I am doing an internship at PWD, and I am working as a supervisor on the construction site as an intern. The project for my internship is the Construction of a Fertilizer lab in the Directorate of Agriculture, J&K.

A good review for an engineering college

What I Liked

Good building structure with good classroom to study
Good faculty and with good Library to study.

What I didn’t like

Bad ground condition thad does not allow to play games properly
Lot of space is unused that should be used properly

Placement Experience:

There are good placement and job opportunities because of its existence in the state which makes it a good college for placement. This college has a good package of about 3.5 lacks per annum of Average.

Internships Opportunities:

I haven't opted for any internship because I am a junior but after my 2nd semester, I will get a chance to get an internship. I have heard from my senior that the internship program is very interesting and is very helpful for future

The reason I joined GCET jammu.

What I Liked

Infrastructure, Architecture and the overall vibe of the campus.
Hostel facility and the food is also great with playing court inside the Hostel.

What I didn’t like

College have a lot of unused area which makes it look smaller then its actual size.

Placement Experience:

As I am in Ist year so I cannot tell you a whole lot about the placements but our seniors has told us the the college has a very good placement rate. About 60% students gets placed in different companies that are based on jammu and also outside jammu and Kashmir. But most of the students that graduation from GCET choose higher education rather that a job.

Internships Opportunities:

No Right not I am in Ist year. But you can opt for internship after completing of your 2nd year. Companies will come in the campus for internship. And you HOD will also help you to get internship of you want to join any company of your own choice.

What I Liked

The best thing about the college is the environment . Because of the eco-friendly environment and tress and plants everywhere it's very nice .
The library of the college is very beautiful . One can feel very comfortable there.

Placement Experience:

The placement is not that good. The package is not so good like other colleges but some students get good packages in big companies. If one is a brilliant student he or she can get good placement in big companies and industries.

College life - my experience

What I Liked

The faculty is supportive towards students
The sports club is the place I like the most

What I didn’t like

The devlopement of infrastructure is quite old
Canteen of the college is also not well maintained

Our college provides placement and internship opportunities for the students the average package of our college varies from 3 LPA to 6 LPA Students also get an internship of 4 weeks in the 2nd year of college and students can also go for an industrial internship of 6 months in the last year

Hostel should be repaired and restored fully

There are providing palcement in the final year the companies from the different states can come in the college for palcement and jobs the private sector companies are giving good package of placement

No I opted internship in this semester but the college have good internship opportunity available in the college and teachers should taken students for internship in different companies like tata , pather, birla etc

GCET JAMMU a College.

What I Liked

Having good teachers and ample infrastructure with numerous buildings can significantly enhance the college experience. Quality faculty members can provide valuable guidance and support, while a well-equipped campus with multiple buildings can offer various resources and facilities to meet students' needs. These factors contribute to a conducive learning environment and overall positive college experience.
Camups life is also good in my college there is good canteen good parking space for cars and bikes.

What I didn’t like

I don't like about college is the hygiene of canteen.
Otherwise college is all good. But College gate can be improved.

Placement Experience:

The eligibility criteria for the placement is you have to pass the final semester. I don't know much about the placemet as i am a second semester student but as i heard from students college provides normal placements. My plan after completing the degree is to become an entrepreneur.

Internships Opportunities:

No, I have not opted for internship. As i am not eligible for internship byt after 3rd semester i can do paid internships and normal i ternships in different companies. Vollege also give reference for internships.

The real truth of GCET

What I Liked

The faculty is good the area is big and green and all the machineries are available all technical support is available there is every laboratory and practical knowledge is given
Guest lectures are organised of only from the colleges like IITs

What I didn’t like

The college is present in very remote area and there is bad transportation facility
The placement scenario is not much good and very less companies come for the placement

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario in the college is not much good here are only 2,3 companies like TCS etc . higest package is 700000 and average is 600000 There se very less percentage of students getting placements like 1 or 2% My friends after getting degrees to go for higher e studies

Internships Opportunities:

No I have not obtained any internship yet there are some internships which are offered in our college like iit jammu provide the internship program in the campus and the task for the student is to do research
