About GCET Jammu, As it's a Government College there are so many benifits of persuing my degree from there. Yes, there were many discussions in my home regarding which college I choose and after all I choosed GCET Jammu. Yes there was a test for the admission throught the process of Jkboppe. After that Test we god merit list for admission and some counselling was done and I got admission in GCET Jammu.
I choose this course because I wanted to become a Mechanical Engineer. Also I was having an interestin Automotive sector. The faculity whis is teaching us is higly qualified and they all are Govt Employees. There teaching methodology is also very good. The exams are held after a time period of two months, there are two sessionals exams in a semester and after that finals are conducted. There is no fee hike in courses as it is a Govt. College.
No, I have not opted for internship. As i am not eligible for internship byt after 3rd semester i can do paid internships and normal i ternships in different companies. Vollege also give reference for internships.
The eligibility criteria for the placement is you have to pass the final semester. I don't know much about the placemet as i am a second semester student but as i heard from students college provides normal placements. My plan after completing the degree is to become an entrepreneur.
Life in campus is moderate. There are many fests held in college like holi fest, baisakhi fest, diwali fest, annual fest etc. Every book related to course is available in library and journals are also available in library. Basic amenities are also provided in classrooms. Sports events are also held in college and some extracurricular activities also. There are some social groups that run from college like red rebel group, Electoral group etc The food provided in hostel is of normal quality and menu is good. The registration process of hostel is open for college students and i available at affordable price. There is also a PG situated near the college.
For placement University conducted job fair for the students where Banks, Private sector industries HR's also visited to take interview and thoroughly conducted the interview and make selection of the deserving students.
Placements in our college are average only, not very high but not zero also. Few companies come every year for campus recruitment, like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and some local construction firms. They mostly offer roles like junior engineer, site supervisor or trainee. Highest package was around 8 LPA for IT profile, average goes between 3-4 LPA. Almost 50-60% students get placed from campus, rest students go for off campus or higher studies. Eligibility for placement is you need minimum 6.5 CGPA and no active backlogs, also they check communication skills in interviews. No big mass recruiters like in IITs, but still some opportunities are there if you prepare well. If not getting placed through campus, I plan to try off campus drives and also thinking to prepare for govt exams or maybe do M.Tech. College do conduct some training sessions and mock interviews but main thing depends on self preparation.
Here almost 95% students got placed.average salary is around 6-7 lpa.Companies like wipro, infuses, bhel visited here.my plan after degree is to do mtech from iits. Highest package is around 45 lakhs (off campus). On campus it is around 25 lpa.
I am always moved by my college’s course curriculum which is multicultural and gives students a wide range of choices. The courses are demanding but the lecturers are always ready to provide support and counsel. It is affordable to all through scholarships and fair fees.
Eligibility criteria for placement depends on the company, majorly all companies asks for minimum CGPA of 7 or 7.5. Some past major companies which comes for recruitment are amazon, sprinklr, paytm, nvidia, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, maruti suzuki etc. According to 2023 data, highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package offered was 18 LPA, minimum package was 5 LPA. Percentage of students get placed in 2023 is 85%. My plans after getting the degree is to either works on corporate or to prepare for UPSC.
quality of teaching is crucial, instructor give their best in the class and class strength is divides in two section according their enrollment number.i think fees is affordable and fees waiver for different category.
The eligibility criteria for the placements of jobs was 65% in the grade card if graduation. The recruitment process was followed by a job examination and job interview. Cipla, SKIMS were some of the recruiters that visited the university and offered almost 15 jobs. The average package offered by the recruiters was 40-70 thousands per month. And the highest package offered by the recruiters was 1.1 Lakh per month. In this recruitment process almost 40% students got placements. I got a private job in a private pharmacy company. Now, I have chosen this job as my carrier after getting the degree.
Decent placement is seen here.Students get placed from semester 7 .TCs,Adobe etc companies comes here to give opportunities for students.Highest package of last year from chemical branch is 13 lakh and median is 7.5 lakh.
There were no job or placement opportunities available and it didn’t bothered the college. The main aim of the students as well included to just pass the degree and get out of there. Faculties also discouraged about the job market scenario outside the college which alleviated the trouble.
Previously there was 100% on campus placement in university but now it's only somewhat 70%. Companies come for placement also they select students but most of time it sells based company not a product based company also they offer quit low packages. Most of students try off Campus Placement where they get some good offers. Average package is about 5-7 lakh
