Every year around November, fest held named as Utkarsh which consists of technical , cultural, dexteria activities. And all students can participate can participate in their interests, also their are various clubs such as photography club, environment club etc

The anual fest UTKARSH takes place in November every year, it's a grand even and takes place in HPU auditorium, it's a 3 day event and has everything dance, music, star night everything it's great overall. Library has 8 different types of newspapers for students, and have almost all kind of books, and if we want some books to be in the library that are not, we can directly tell our librarian and he orders some copies of that book in around a month . Classrooms are spacious and have a digital board, a projector and a chalk board each. Extracurricular activities do not happen much other than fest, in even semesters a anual sports meet happen, but the participation and hype around it as not much.

UTKARSH is one of the best fest held in Himachal Pradesh University every year by the students of UIT. Usually held in December. Since there's no hostel available for the students, student depends upon PGs or rented rooms around the college.

The library is quiet a place with almost all the books required. Life at UIT will be stressful and boring because there is no proper infrastructure e.g. library with a seating capacity of just 38 students. Recently there have been some developments in amenities provided by the institute like LG LG-led smart board in every class, upgrading labs Etc but it will be not sufficient There is only one active club/association whatever you want to i.e. Engineering Technical Student Association ETSA, all the events including sports events are being organized by this only. So if you want to be a member of ETSA you need to win elections which are held yearly There is no hostel and a fun fact is that our college is itself one building of 4 floors In conclusion, I can only say that join this institute at your own risk I took the risk and somehow survived it but you will suffer a lot if you join, not academic suffering but existential suffering due to the geographical location of Shimla and extreme weather conditions sometimes.
