Admission to BS-MS degree programs is available through three routes: the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), JEE Advanced, and State and Central Boards (SCB). Candidates who apply through the KVPY method must have a valid 10+2 score. To apply through the JEE Advanced channel, you must have a valid JEE Advanced rank.
CSIR-UGC NET/ GATE/ JEST/ NBHM/ JGEEBILS/ INSPIRE Ph.D. Scholarships are used to admit students to Ph.D. programs. Candidates holding an IISER BS-MS dual degree and a CGPA of 8.0 or higher are eligible for admission to the Ph.D. program.
The institute considers JAM/ JEST/ NBHM (for Mathematics) scores for Integrated Ph.D. (i-Ph.D.). The performance in the Personal Interview determines the ultimate selection for Ph.D. and i-Ph.D. programs.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development created the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune in 2006. It was one of the first IISERs to be created, and it is one of the seven IISERs. In 2012, an Act of Parliament designated it as a Nationally Significant Institute. It is located in Pune, Maharashtra, and spans 90 acres. In the list of Best Global Universities, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune is placed #706th.
The application process for the BS-MS Dual Degree, Integrated Ph.D., and Ph.D. programs at IISER Pune is available online. Candidates must carefully fill out the application form by visiting the IISER Pune official website and reading all of the guidelines.
For international students, send a cover letter, CV, Research Statement, Scan of passport information pages, transcript, and three letters of recommendation to international.phd@acads.iiserpune.ac.in. Mention the name of the department of interest, as well as the names of the individual research groups at IISER, in the cover letter.

IISER, Pune BS + MS Admissions 2024
The BS-MS degree is a five-year integrated program. The first two years of the program are devoted to basic science core courses, the third and fourth years are devoted to specialization in selected science disciplines, and the fifth year includes a research project.
In BS-MS, the total intake is 1125. Candidates from the KVPY and JEE Advanced streams will be granted 50% of the total seats available. SCB stream candidates will have access to the remaining half of the total seats.
BS-MS (Bachelor of Science + Master of Science), Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy), and Integrated Ph.D. programs are available (integrated Doctor of Philosophy).
IISER, Pune BS-MS Eligibility Criteria
The following are the eligibility requirements for admission to IISER Pune's BS-MS program:
- Candidates who are JEE Advanced Qualified must have passed their class 12 test with a minimum of 75% aggregate in the Science stream.
- Candidates who have received a JEE Advanced rank are also eligible to apply for IISER.
IISER, Pune BS-MS Selection Criteria
- The JEE Advanced/ KVPY score is used to determine admission to the BS-MS program. Those applying through the SCB course will be required to take the IISER Aptitude Test.
- Candidates who have been shortlisted must validate their documents. At the document verification center, they must bring all relevant documents in original and copied form.
How to Apply for BS-MS?
- Visit www.iiserpune.ac.in for further information.
- Select "Admission" from the drop-down menu.
- Register with your email address and password.
- After you've received an email confirmation, you can log in.
- Fill out the application form completely and accurately.
- Upload a scan of your signature and a photograph.
- The image size should be around 50 kilobytes.
- Verify all of the data and save the application form.
- Pay the application fee using one of the provided options.
- Take a printout of the application form for your records.

IISER Pune provides BS-MS, Ph.D., and Integrated Ph.D. dual degree programs.
CSIR-UGC NET/ GATE/ JEST/ NBHM/ JGEEBILS/ INSPIRE Ph.D. Scholarships are used to admit students to Ph.D. programs.
Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Climate Sciences - Climate Science, Geophysics and Glaciology, Physics, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Mathematics are the six specialties available for Ph.D. courses.
IISER, Pune Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have earned a master's degree in science or mathematics or a bachelor's degree with a cumulative grade point average of at least 60%.
- Additionally, candidates must pass either of the CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST/NBHM/JGEEBILS exams, among others.
- Candidates who have been awarded an INSPIRE-PhD fellowship are also eligible to apply ( except for Humanities & Social Sciences).
- Candidates having a CGPA of 8.0 (7.0 for Physics and holding an INSPIRE fellowship) or higher who have completed a BS-MS dual degree from any IISER are also eligible.

How to apply for a Ph.D. course at IISER Pune?
- Only applications submitted online will be considered.
- On or before the deadline, candidates must thoroughly complete and submit the online application form.
- All applications will be evaluated after the deadline, and applicants selected for interviews will be notified via email.

IISER, Pune Integrated Ph.D. Selection Process
The entrance exam score and the interview round are used to select candidates. Those who pass the interview stage will be considered for admission.
- Candidates must have a JAM (Chemistry) 2023 rank of less than or equivalent to 800.
- Candidates must have a valid score or ranking in either JAM 2023 (MA or MS only) or NBHM 2023.
- Candidates must have a JAM (Physics) or JEST rank of less than or equal to 500 (valid in June 2023). (Ph.D. Physics).
How to apply for an i-PhD at IISER Pune?
The application for the I-PhD is done online. Candidates should, however, confirm their qualifying criteria before registering. On the official website of IISER, Pune, eligible candidates can fill out an application form. After the deadline, no applications will be accepted.
- All of the information on the application form must be accurate and backed up with authentic documentation.
- On the application form, include a valid email address or phone number. Only email will be used to communicate information about the interview round.
- During the registration procedure, students must pay an application fee. It can be paid using net banking, credit card, or debit card in the online form.
IISER, Pune Externally Funded Ph.D. Admission Criteria 2024
IISER Pune started an externally funded Ph.D. program. The first year's coursework will be completed in IISER Pune, and the second year's research will be completed at rising, Kolkata.
IISER, Pune Eligibility Criteria
- The educational requirements are the same as for usual applicants. (Master's degree in Science/ B.Tech/ M.Tech/ B.Pharm/ M.Pharm/ BS-MS degree with minimum 60 % aggregate marks [reserved category students receive additional marks])
- Only anyone working in R&D in Technical/Scientific Institutions/Industries or R&D Establishments would be eligible.
IISER, Pune Selection Criteria
- Students having a Master's degree in Science/Math or a four-year Bachelor's degree with at least 60% (aggregate) are recommended to apply for our Ph.D. program.
- We expect candidates to have passed a national examination such as the CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST/NBHM/JGEEBILS, etc.
- In addition to their qualifying degree. Students will be admitted to the Ph.D. program depending on their interview performance.
How to apply for an Externally Funded Ph.D. at IISER Pune?
- The candidates must have official sponsorship from their employers.
- This sponsorship should be secured at the time of application submission.
- The application will be rejected if this is not provided.
IISER, Pune International Ph.D. Admission Criteria 2024
International students are encouraged to apply for the IISER Pune Ph.D. The program will begin in February 2023.
There are two ways to recruit international students:
- IISER Pune offers direct admission.
- Through the 'Study in India' program, which is financed by the Ministry of Education.
IISER, Pune Eligibility Criteria
- Only citizens of countries other than India are eligible to apply.
- Applicants for the Ph.D. program must have finished a 4-year undergraduate degree or a Master's degree from a non-Indian university.
- Whereas applicants for the integrated Ph.D. program must have obtained a 3- or 4-year undergraduate degree from a non-Indian institution.
IISER, Pune Selection Criteria
- Pre-screening will be used to make the final decision, which will be followed by a multi-round interview procedure.
- Individual departments will determine the process, which will be notified to applicants in advance.
- Interviews will be held through video conference whenever available.

- Applications are now being accepted for the August 2021 session.

Ans. IISER Pune outperforms IISER Kolkata in terms of possibilities. IISER Pune has more collaborations than any other IISER. Remarks:
I was very interested in science and biology and wanted to pursue research. This is one of the most reputed and prestigious colleges in the country in this field and was a dream to get into. It's admission is done on the basis of the IAT examination that is required for all IISERs and for IISc. It requires a minimum of 90% in 12th boards CBSE but the cut off is lower in case of reservations. Cut off varies year to year depending on the ranks and amount of people opting for the college.

Remarks:
I am fascinated by the level of research in all domains of science and mathematics at this institution. It provides world-class instrumentation facilities to its students. The admission for MSc Chemistry here is based on the rank obtained in IIT JAM. If your rank lies around 600-700, you have a good chance of selection here(Gen. category). The only problem you might face here is of food, which you can easily overcome as the online food delivery applications are all over internet.

everything is good in campus but it is not made for those who are especially for only placement. As it is a research college so there is not so placement as many of student chose higher education instead of getting any placement opportunity. Also the admission criteria here is by the exam conducted by iiser is IAT by which you can get admission through it in the undergraduate program. There is normally 3-4 rounds generally happen for admission and you call for counselling process in college for admiison which is not so hectic.

I am interested in doing research and becoming a scientist that's why I chose iiser. Iiser prepares its students for research starting from the UG level itself. The main bad aspect of IISERP is its hectic academic workload. I got admitted into IISERP through IISER Aptitude Test which is an annual entrance test. It tests your ability in PCMB. The difficulty is comparable to JEE mains and neet. I started my preparation by preparing for the next. School math knowledge and NEET-level prep for PCB were enough for me to crack the IAT.
