Now that the results are out, colleges will soon start deciding candidates based on cut-off scores and group discussion/personal interview rounds.

Candidates scoring 95+ percentile stand a strong chance of securing a call from XLRI Jamshedpur, while others also have multiple options, with PI shortlisting for top colleges set to begin soon.
Cut-offs: To get into the best colleges, students usually need to score in the 80–95+ percentile range. XLRI programs need even higher scores, around 93–96+ percentile for the admissions.

Key Summary XAT 2026 scores were out on January 16, 2026, about two weeks after the test on January 4, 2026. Good MBA programs that take XAT scores, like XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT, GIM, TAPMI, and MICA, usually want scores in the 80 to 95+ percentile range. XLRI is still the hardest to get into. Looking at past cut-offs from 2023 to 2025, XLRI’s Business Management and Human Resources programs consistently have high overall and section scores. Math and Verbal are usually the toughest sections. After XAT 2026, colleges will shortlist candidates based on cut-off scores. Then, they’ll do group discussions or writing tests, personal interviews, and create a final list based on a combined score.

XAT officially announces the overall cutoff percentile along with the sectional cutoff list on the official website. Below are the previous year’s cutoffs percentile:

XAT 2025 – XLRI Cutoffs

In 2025, XLRI’s Business Management program demanded an overall cutoff of 96 percentile for male candidates and 91 percentile for female candidates, with no distinction between engineering and non-engineering backgrounds. The QA section was the most challenging, set at 88 for males and 82 for females, while VALR and DM hovered around the low-80s.
For Human Resource Management, the cutoffs were slightly more varied: engineering males needed 95 percentile overall, non-engineering males 93, engineering females 90, and non-engineering females 87. Here, VALR had the highest sectional requirement, touching 90, while DM ranged between 80 and 87.

XAT 2024 – XLRI Cutoffs

The 2024 cutoffs were close to the 2025 benchmarks but marginally easier on the sectionals. For BM, engineering males had to score 96 overall, non-engineering males 95, and female candidates 91 and 90 respectively. The QA section again carried the heaviest weight, with cutoffs in the mid-80s.
HRM followed a similar structure: the highest overall cutoff was 95 for engineering males, while the lowest was 88 for non-engineering females. As in 2025, HRM placed greater emphasis on verbal and decision making, with sectional cutoffs peaking in those areas.

XLRI did not publish official sectional cutoffs in 2023 press notes. Only overall values are available.
For BM, the threshold was 95 for male candidates and 92 for females, irrespective of academic background.
For HRM, the bar was slightly lower: engineering males required 93, non-engineering males 90, female engineers 91, and non-engineering females 88.

XAT Answer Key and Response Sheet 2026

The XAT 2026 Answer Key is an official document released by XLRI Jamshedpur on 9 January 2026 on the official XAT website. XAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the XAT exam, candidates must hold (or be in the final year of) a bachelor’s degree of minimum three years’ duration from a recognised university.

There is no strict age limit and no mandatory minimum percentage in graduation for XAT eligibility.
Final-year students may apply but must submit proof of graduation by the specified admission deadline.

Note: Some programmes that accept XAT scores may place additional conditions (work experience, reserved category rules, or minimum marks) during shortlisting - check the institute’s admission brochure.

Negative marks awarded for each un-attempted question after 8 un-attempted questions: -0.10 marks

PART 2:

In the General Knowledge (GK) section, for each correct answer, candidates will score +1 mark.
Notably, there is NO negative marking for incorrect answers in this section, allowing candidates to attempt all GK questions without the risk of losing marks.)
