AILET 2027 is an offline, two-hour exam. The BA LLB paper has 150 MCQs, while the LLM paper has 100 MCQs. Each correct answer gets one mark and each wrong answer costs 0.25 mark.

What the BA LLB Sections Cover

English Language

English questions are built around reading and language use. The verified 2026 paper included passages on AI in law enforcement and on social-media algorithms, followed by questions on meaning, inference and the writer's point.

Current Affairs and General Knowledge

This section mixes recent events with general knowledge. The 2026 paper asked about Operation Sindoor, an Indian gene-therapy trial, the 2025 Wimbledon women's winner and other national and international events.

Logical Reasoning

Logical Reasoning carries the most marks. The 2026 paper included analogies, series, syllogisms, assumptions, strengthen-or-weaken questions and principle-based problems. NLU Delhi says legal principles may be used, but students do not need prior legal knowledge.

For example, 100 correct answers and 20 wrong answers give 95 marks: 100 minus 5. The same rule applies to BA LLB and LLM.

Exam Mode, OMR Sheet and Time

Candidates receive a printed paper and mark answers on an OMR sheet. The total time is 120 minutes. The official pattern does not give separate time limits for sections, so candidates may move between sections during the paper.

AILET Tie-Breaking Rules

For BA LLB, the candidate with higher Logical Reasoning marks is placed higher. If the tie remains, the older candidate is placed higher, followed by a draw of lots. For LLM, age is checked first and a draw of lots is used if needed.
