National Law University, Delhi has released the AILET 2026 eligibility criteria on the official website nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The eligibility is different for every course. This year, NLU has revised the eligibility for LLM and IPjoint masters. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria specified for their program before applying for AILET 2026.

  • There is no age limit to be eligible for AILET 2026.
  • To meet the eligibility criteria for AILET 2026, candidates must have a qualifying degree with specific marks for each program.
  • AILET 2026 has reservations for various reserved categories.

Qualifying for AILET 2026 provides admission to UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses at NLU, Delhi.

Candidates must be familiar with the eligibility criteria before AILET 2026 Registration.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for LLB Program

Candidates aspiring to pursue BA LLB (Hons.) from NLU, Delhi must meet the following AILET 2026 eligibility criteria:

  • Pass the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
    • Candidates appearing for the 12th board exams in 2026 are eligible for AILET 2026.
  • Score at least 45% marks (42% for OBCa nd 40% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) in the qualifying examination.

Note:

Foreign Nationals/ OCI/ PIO do not need to appear for AILET. They must pass their qualifying examination with at least 65% aggregate marks.

Seat Distribution for AILET 2026: BA LLB Program

  • 110 seats are offered based on AILET merit.
  • 5 seats are reserved for Foreign nationals.
  • 5 seats are reserved for OCI/ PIO.
  • Additional Supernumerary Seats
    • 1 seat is reserved for Kashmiri migrants.
    • 2 seats are reserved for residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for LLM Program

Candidates must meet the following AILET 2026 eligibility criteria for LLM program:

  • Have a LLB or an equivalent degree. Candidates in their final year BA LLB course in 2026 are also eligible for AILET 2026.
  • Pass the qualifying exam with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates).

[Note: Foreign Nationals/ OCI/ PIO candidates need not appear for AILET 2026.]

Seat Distribution for AILET 2026: LLM Program

  • 70 seats will be filled based on AILET merit.
  • 5 seats are for Foreign Nationals.
  • 5 seats are for OCI/ PIO candidates.
  • Additional Supernumerary Seats
    • 1 seat is reserved for Kashmiri Migrants.

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for IP Joint Masters/ LLM Program

Candidates who want to pursue an MA in Intellectual Property Law and Management must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Have two Bachelor’s degrees in succession, with at least one in the relevant discipline
    • you can also have a degree in a 5-year integrated program in the relevant field after their 10+2 exams
    • a PG degree in any discipline from a recognized university
    • complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree with Honours/Research from a recognized university
  • Score a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved category candidates)

If you want to qualify for LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management must meet the criteria mentioned below:

  • Complete a LLB or equivalent degree from any recognized university
  • Pass the qualifying exam with a minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for reserved category candidates)

AILET 2026 Reservation Criteria: LLB/ LLM Programs

NLU, Delhi has reserved seats for AILET 2026.

  • 5% horizontal reservation for PwD category candidates across all categories.
  • 15% reservation for SC candidates.
  • 7.5% reservation for ST candidates.
  • 22% reservation for OBC-NCL category candidates.
  • 10% reservation for EWS candidates.
  • 30% horizontal reservation of the total seats for eligible women (any category).

AILET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for PhD Program

UGC-JRF and foreign national candidates are exempted from the exam to be eligible for AILET 2026.

  • Admission will be made based on their research proposal and interview.
  • 50% weightage on the research proposal; 50% weightage on the interview performance.

Candidates applying for a Ph.D. program through AILET will be evaluated based on

  • Written exam with 70% weightage
  • Research proposal and interview with 30% weightage.

AILET 2026 Eligibility Criteria: Ph.D. in Law

To meet AILET 2026 eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Law, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Have an LLM or equivalent degree.
  • Score at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ PwD candidates) in the qualifying exam.

Seat Distribution in AILET 2026: Ph.D. in Law

  • 16 seats are available based on AILET merit.
  • 5 seats are available for UGC-JRF.
  • 4 seats will be for Fellowship through AILET merit.
  • 2 seats will be for Foreign Nationals.

AILET 2026 Eligibility Criteria: Ph.D. in Social Science

Candidates must meet AILET 2026 eligibility criteria for Ph.D. in Social Science - Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, Economics, and English. The required criteria are:

  • Have the relevant Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Science or Humanities.
  • Pass with 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ PwD candidates) in the qualifying exam.

Seat Distribution in AILET 2026: Ph.D. in Social Science

  • 4 seats will be filled with UGC-JRF, AILET, Foreign nationals, and Fellowships.
