IBSAT Selection Process 2026 will be conducted for candidates shortlisted for admission to the MBA/PGPM 2027-29 programmes offered by ICFAI Business School. As per the current IBS admission schedule, selection briefings are expected to be conducted in the 2nd to 4th week of January 2027, followed by the selection process in the 2nd to 3rd week of February 2027 at IBS Hyderabad. These dates are currently tentative.

The current IBS selection process consists of Micro Presentation and Personal Interview. Group Discussion is no longer part of the published selection process. Final admission is based on the candidate's past academic record and performance in the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview.

What Is IBSAT Selection Briefing?

Candidates shortlisted for the MBA/PGPM admission process may be invited to IBS selection briefings before the final selection rounds. These sessions are intended to explain the IBS programmes, admission process and selection procedure and to give candidates an opportunity to clarify their queries.

The current IBS admissions schedule places the selection briefings in the second to fourth week of January 2027. The detailed city-wise schedule, venue, date and time should be checked when IBS publishes the final briefing schedule.

What Are The Stages of IBSAT Selection Process?

The current MBA/PGPM selection process can be understood in four stages:

Stage 1: Selection Briefings

• IBS conducts selection briefings for shortlisted candidates before the final selection process.
• The sessions explain the MBA/PGPM programmes, campuses and admission procedure.
• Candidates can use the briefing to understand the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview process.
• The detailed 2027 briefing schedule will be available through the official IBS admission channels when announced.

Stage 2: Micro Presentation

• The Micro Presentation has replaced the earlier Group Discussion component in the current IBS selection process.
• It is used to assess communication and presentation skills.
• The panel also evaluates how clearly candidates organise and present their thoughts.
• Candidates should prepare to speak on a given topic in a concise and structured manner.
• The final format, timing and instructions applicable to the 2027 selection process should be followed as communicated by IBS.

Stage 3: Personal Interview

• Candidates appearing for the selection process also undergo a Personal Interview.
• The interview evaluates the candidate's academic background, communication skills, attitude, clarity of thought and overall suitability for the programme.
• Candidates should be prepared to discuss their academics, career goals, interests and reasons for pursuing an MBA/PGPM.
• Performance in the Personal Interview forms part of the final admission decision.

Stage 4: Admission

• IBS prepares the final admission decision after considering the candidate's past academic record and performance in the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview.
• Selected candidates must complete the admission formalities within the deadline mentioned in their admission or enrolment communication.
• The common IBS application covers all nine IBS campuses, while final admission depends on the programme, campus and selection outcome applicable to the candidate.

What After IBSAT Selection Process?

After the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview are completed, IBS evaluates the candidate's overall profile. The current official admission information states that final selection is based on past academic record and performance in the Micro Presentation and Personal Interview.

The old selection model based on Group Discussion and Personal Interview should not be used for the MBA/PGPM 2027-29 admission cycle because Group Discussion is no longer part of the current published selection process.

IBS has not published the old fixed weightage table of 50% academics and 50% GD/PI as the current selection formula for the MBA/PGPM 2027-29 admission cycle. Candidates should therefore rely on the current admission communication instead of older weightage figures.
