How to Select Your UCEED Exam Cities
Choose three different cities in your order of preference while completing registration. Consider whether you can reach each city before the morning reporting time, not only whether it is close to home. The centre is assigned after registration; a city preference is not a booking at a specific venue.
If a listed city has too few candidates, it may be removed and candidates can be shifted to their second or third preference. Operational requirements can also lead to a city outside the selected preferences. IIT Bombay can add or remove a city when required.
No city or centre change is allowed after registration is complete. The application deadline is 31 October 2026 with the regular fee and 6 November, 5 pm with the applicable late fee; those deadlines do not create a centre-change window.
When Will the UCEED Centre Address Be Available?
Download the admit card from the UCEED candidate portal from 1 January 2027, 1 pm. It contains the registration ID, roll number, date of birth, category, photograph, signature, examination schedule, centre details and instructions.
Match the centre address with the admit card before arranging the final journey. A city may have more than one venue, so the city name alone is not enough to locate your reporting point.
The deadline to report admit-card discrepancies is 8 January 2027, 5 pm. If the card cannot be downloaded, contact the UCEED office promptly. Rectifying incorrect card details is different from asking for another examination city.
UCEED Reporting Time and Entry Documents
| Exam-day event | 17 January 2027 |
| Reporting begins | 7 am |
| Examination starts | 9 am |
| Examination ends | 12 noon |
| Entry after the start | Not permitted |
Carry a printed admit card and a valid original photo identity proof. Identity verification includes a photograph and thumb impression at the centre. Keep your fingers clean for biometric capture, and allow time for these checks before 9 am.
If identity details require additional checks, no extra time is awarded for those formalities. Candidates must remain in the examination hall for the entire duration; finishing early does not permit an early exit.
Drawing Materials and Prohibited Items
| Item | Entry rule |
| Pencils | Bring your own in a transparent packet; shades of black are permitted |
| A4 writing board | A clean board is allowed |
| Sketch pens, colour pencils, poster colours and other colouring materials | Not permitted |
| Mobile phone, smart glasses, calculator and watches of any type | Not permitted |
| Geometry box, abacus, slide rule, log books and study material | Not permitted |
| Scribble pad | One is supplied for rough work; it must be signed and returned |
Centres do not supply drawing stationery, and candidates cannot borrow or exchange it. Bring the permitted materials with you. The supplied scribble pad is not a take-home copy and no extra pad is provided.
Part A is computer-based; Part B is answered in the supplied booklet. If the computer develops a technical problem, inform the invigilator. The allotted test time is preserved and time lost to the technical problem is adjusted by the server.
Arrangements for PwD Candidates
Request scribe assistance and/or compensatory time during registration and upload the applicable documents. The UCEED office assesses the request; it is not an arrangement to leave until arrival at the centre.
For eligible candidates, the centre provides a panel of Class IX or X students as scribes. The candidate selects from that panel, typically a day before the exam. A personal scribe cannot be brought to the centre.
Scribe assistance is available only in Part A. Part B must be attempted independently because it tests drawing and design responses. Eligible candidates receive 20 minutes per hour of compensatory time for each part, with no transfer from one part to the other.
The test has different screen-based and drawing tasks. UCEED question papers show how those tasks are presented, including the space needed for Part-B responses.
