UCEED Seats by Institute: 2026-27

IIITDM Jabalpur had the largest intake at 66 seats, followed by IIT Guwahati with 56. These are programme totals, not the number of seats available to an individual category.

Category-wise UCEED Seat Matrix

Academic year: 2026-27. Category totals include the PwD seats within that category. Read the two tables together rather than adding their totals.

Each category total above includes its PwD seats. The separate PwD breakdown is:

For example, IIT Bombay had 15 OPEN seats in total: 14 OPEN and 1 OPEN-PwD. Its EWS total was 4, OBC-NCL total 10, SC total 5 and ST total 3. Together, these add to 37. The PwD seat is part of that total, not a 38th seat.

UCEED Reservation and Vacant PwD Seats

An unfilled PwD seat is reassigned to candidates in the same category in merit order. It is not automatically converted into an extra OPEN seat. Category eligibility and valid supporting certificates remain necessary.

OBC-NCL reservation requires the Central List and non-creamy-layer status. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates for admission in 2027-28 must be issued on or after 1 April 2027. The earlier certificate used for the entrance examination may therefore need renewal.

Foreign-national seats follow a separate supernumerary route with a cap of 10% of the programme intake. An eligible foreign applicant needs a rank equal to or better than the relevant OPEN closing rank, and allocation occurs after Indian-national allocation in that round. The cap does not guarantee additional seats for every applicant.

Which Institutes Can You Apply To?

The participating BDes programmes do not all accept the same Class 12 subject combinations. A UCEED rank must be combined with the appropriate qualification and age requirements.

PCM students can apply to all seven institutes. Arts and Commerce students can apply to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore. IIITDM Jabalpur specifically accepts Physics and Chemistry with Mathematics or Biology.

For the normal admission route, candidates must have passed Class 12 or its equivalent in 2026 or 2027. Students appearing in 2027 must complete the qualifying-examination requirements and provide passing proof to the admitting institute by 30 September 2027. An exam-appearance exception does not automatically override the separate admission criteria.

How to Apply for UCEED BDes Admission

1. Obtain a rank in UCEED 2027 and check the institute-specific eligibility conditions.
2. Complete the joint BDes application between 15 March and 12 April 2027.
3. Enter the participating institutes in your order of preference and submit the required documents.
4. Check the provisional allotment and the acceptance-fee deadline for the round.
5. Accept and pay for the offer, choosing freeze or float where available.
6. Complete the admitting institute's document verification, fee payment and joining formalities.

Allotment considers your rank, category and order of choices. Put the institute you prefer most first: float can move you only to a higher preference, not to an institute you placed lower.

Admission remains provisional until the institute checks the documents and completes its formalities. The joint process can close once the available seats are filled, even though five rounds are scheduled.

UCEED Seat Allotment Dates 2027

All dates below are in 2027. The round schedule is tentative. Acceptance-fee and withdrawal windows close at 6 pm on the last date.

The float option remains active until the Round-4 payment deadline, 3 July. The final scheduled withdrawal/refund window ends on 7 July at 6 pm. After the last round is announced, an accepted/allotted seat cannot be withdrawn or declined through the joint process.

Seat Acceptance Fee and Refund

Both amounts include a non-refundable INR 5,000 processing charge. For students who join, the acceptance payment is adjusted against the admitting institute's fees. It is not the total BDes tuition fee.

Pay by the allotted round's deadline even if you choose float. Missing the payment cancels the seat and ends participation in later rounds. If a higher-preference institute is allotted later, the acceptance fee is not paid again.

The published withdrawal refund applies within the scheduled windows, ending on 7 July 2027 at 6 pm. Institute-specific refund rules can apply to later fee/admission matters; do not assume the joint-process refund table describes every fee paid to an institute.

Freeze or Float: What Changes?

If you receive your first preference, the options are to accept/freeze or decline. Float is relevant when you receive a lower preference.

Example: you list Bombay first, Delhi second and Hyderabad third, then receive Hyderabad. If you accept with float and later receive Delhi, the Hyderabad seat is automatically released. You cannot hold both seats or return to the earlier one through that upgrade. If no higher preference is allotted, your accepted seat remains.

Participating and Result-Sharing Institutes

The joint seat matrix covers the seven named participating institutes. Other institutions may use UCEED scores through their own application and selection processes; they are not added to these 245 historical seats.

The participating IITs do not conduct a separate spot round through this process. IIITDM Jabalpur may conduct an institute-level round for vacant seats. A vacancy does not remove the relevant admission eligibility conditions.
