The BITSAT syllabus is mostly like JEE Main since both are based on the NCERT syllabus for Classes 11 and 12. But BITSAT is more about quickness, and more sections are included, such as English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning, that are not parts of JEE Main. Although the main subjects (physics, Chemistry, and mathematics) are the same, the pattern and focus of the exams are different.

  • Extra sections in BITSAT: English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning are included in BITSAT, unlike JEE Main.

  • Speed vs. Difficulty: BITSAT is more speed-oriented with moderate difficulty, while JEE Main can be conceptually deeper.
  • Exam Pattern: BITSAT has 130 questions with bonus questions, whereas JEE Main has fewer but more calculation-intensive questions.

You can go through the YouTube Video below shared by “Vision Realm - NITK” for some expert tips for preparing BITSAT 2026 along with JEE Main 2026. Unlike JEE Main, BITSAT is more about speed solving and accuracy. Experts recommend covering whole syllabus of BITSAT and attempting Mock Tests to gain accuracy and confidence in solving MCQs.

Key Summary:
  • Mode of Exam: Both exams are conducted in an online (computer-based test) mode.
  • Marking Scheme Difference: BITSAT gives +3 for correct and –1 for incorrect answers, while JEE Main gives +4 and –1.
  • Competition Level: JEE Main has a much larger number of applicants nationwide, making competition broader.
  • Admission Scope: BITSAT is only for admission into BITS campuses, whereas JEE Main scores are accepted by NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded institutions.

BITSAT Vs JEE Main Syllabus

BITSAT syllabus for PCM is similar and includes subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. You need to prepare the NCERT syllabi for classes 11 and 12 for each examination. However, the difficulty level of JEE Main is slightly higher than the BITSAT exam.

  • JEE Main includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • BITSAT includes subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Logical Reasoning

How to Prepare for BITSAT 2026 Along with JEE Main FAQs

Ques. Can I prepare for BITSAT 2026 along with JEE Main preparation?

Ans. You are allowed to prepare for BITSAT while doing JEE Main as the main syllabus (physics, chemistry, and mathematics) for both exams is based on NCERT Class 11 and 12. However, the BITSAT is a speed-oriented exam and also has extra sections such as English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning.

Ques. What is the ideal strategy to score 300+ in BITSAT 2026?

Ans. Break the preparation into 3 stages. The first stage: revise your English and logical reasoning along with regular PCM study. In the second stage, concentrate on speed, based on MCQ practice of the important chapters. And in the last phase, devote your time to full-length mock tests and deep analysis of them. The secret is to improve your speed, accuracy, and smart question selection rather than merely finishing the syllabus.
