Why and How to Join NIT Srinagar

- Location , as the college is located in J&K and that too in the srinagar the location and views are extremely beautiful
- Weather, in winters especially this place looks incredible it also snowfalls so it looks amazing
Dislikes
- faculty is not as they say they should improve their way of teaching and way of treating students
- Sex Ratio, most of students are boys so there are not many girl interaction
Remarks :
What made me choose this college was that i wanted a tag of NIT , and the average package of the cs branch was better than any low grade private college Now about the good things, it's placements are better compared to any tier 3 colleges Now about the Bad things is that there is a language barrier , because the college is located in J&K so people usually chats in their native language ,though it is not much of a problem but still u will feel it Another issue is that the there is a little bit(Not much only a little) of favouritism for the native people As for the process of Admission : 1) you need to give Joint entrance Exam (JEE) and get a decent rank i was an Sc student and my SC category rank was 4643 at 92.6 percentile and i got CSE in CSAB but if you are a general student you need around 97 percentile. 2)then participate in JOSSA counselling 3)then at the day of the physical reporting you need all the important documents failing in doing so could get your admission cancelled
Course Curriculum Overview :
I am currently pursuing B tech in CSE , i choose this course because of good placement rates Qualifications of the faculty on paper is outstanding some teachers are in top 2% scientist of the world but their teaching says otherwise Their teaching method is not very effective ,I personally was disappointed The first year exam was rushed the course wasn't even completed and the difficulty was between easy to medium but some of them were out of syllabus or which was not taught
Internships Opportunities :
i haven't yet opted for any internship but there are some group which helps in getting internship inside the college there are good opportunities in the college , some of them are also paid internship to help getting a side income
Placement Experience :
you need at least 8 CGPA to be eligible for placements Oracle recruited some students and offered around 15-19 lakhs In CS there was around 50% placement rates My plans after getting degree is get immidiately placed and look for jobs
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Total Fee(Per semester) - For general/OBC-NCL/EWS (above 5 lakh income) : Rs 73000 (income between 1 to 5 lakhs): Rs 31333 (income below than 1 lakhs): Rs 10500 For SC/ST/PWD : Rs 10500 Additionly there is a mess and hostel fees to be paid by everyone Mess fee : Rs 21000 Hostel Fee: Rs 8000 As for the scholarship YES there is a scholarship program called NSP (National Scholarship Program) which is only applicable for students who have income under 1.5 Lakhs And as for the fact that if the fees is increasing or not , the Total fee was same for 2021 batch and 2024 batch for all students , the only difference is in the Mess fee which was 16000 in 2021 and now is increased to 21000
Campus Life :
There are many different clubs like Sargam club , tech clubs, etc And there is a main fest called Techvaganza which is held every year And there is a full functioned Library in which you could variety of books There is full fledged track, a cricket ground , football ground , tennis court, badminton area etc But the condition of Hostel is very poor and the mess food is also not very great the overall campus is very good because of the amazing view and it even snows in the winter so you would be able to witness snowfall in the winters there is a clothing brand which is run by students themselves which sells NIT Srinagar merch at a reasonable merch
Hostel Facilities :
Food quality is not that great , sometimes you get special menu There is an additional fee for Mess that is 21000 and for Hostel which is 8000 per semester if you need hostel you have to opt hostel and mess when registring online

Placements in our college are average only, not very high but not zero also. Few companies come every year for campus recruitment, like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and some local construction firms. They mostly offer roles like junior engineer, site supervisor or trainee. Highest package was around 8 LPA for IT profile, average goes between 3-4 LPA. Almost 50-60% students get placed from campus, rest students go for off campus or higher studies. Eligibility for placement is you need minimum 6.5 CGPA and no active backlogs, also they check communication skills in interviews. No big mass recruiters like in IITs, but still some opportunities are there if you prepare well. If not getting placed through campus, I plan to try off campus drives and also thinking to prepare for govt exams or maybe do M.Tech. College do conduct some training sessions and mock interviews but main thing depends on self preparation.

Placement Experience :
Here almost 95% students got placed.average salary is around 6-7 lpa.Companies like wipro,infuses,bhel visited here.my plan after degree is to do mtech from iits. Highest package is around 45 lakhs (off campus). On campus it is around 25 lpa.

I am always moved by my college’s course curriculum which is multicultural and gives students a wide range of choices. The courses are demanding but the lecturers are always ready to provide support and counsel. It is affordable to all through scholarships and fair fees.
Placement and college life at IIT Jammu
Placement Experience :
Eligibility criteria for placement depends on the company, majorly all companies asks for minimum CGPA of 7 or 7.5. Some past major companies which comes for recruitment are amazon, sprinklr, paytm, nvidia, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, maruti suzuki etc. According to 2023 data, highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package offered was 18 LPA, minimum package was 5 LPA. Percentage of students get placed in 2023 is 85%. My plans after getting the degree is to either works on corporate or to prepare for UPSC.

quality of teaching is crucial, instructor give their best in the class and class strength is divides in two section according their enrollment number.i think fees is affordable and fees waiver for different category.
My University Life In The University of Kashmir.
Placement Experience :
The eligibility criteria for the placements of jobs was 65% in the grade card if graduation. The recruitment process was followed by a job examination and job interview. Cipla, SKIMS were some of the recruiters that visited the university and offered almost 15 jobs. The average package offered by the recruiters was 40-70 thousands per month. And the highest package offered by the recruiters was 1.1 Lakh per month. In this recruitment process almost 40% students got placements. I got a private job in a private pharmacy company. Now, I have chosen this job as my carrier after getting the degree.

Placement Experience :
There were no job or placement opportunities available and it didn’t bothered the college. The main aim of the students as well included to just pass the degree and get out of there. Faculties also discouraged about the job market scenario outside the college which alleviated the trouble.

Previously there was 100% on campus placement in university but now it's only somewhat 70%. Companies come for placement also they select students but most of time it sells based company not a product based company also they offer quit low packages. Most of students try off Campus Placement where they get some good offers. Average package is about 5-7 lakh
