- The college has a vast campus of 150+ acres. The campus is situated in forest and hilly areas of Dhenkanal district. Studying in the college is really a awesome experience for me.
- The faculty, facilities, hostels etc. everything are good. Sometimes compromises are made as achieving everything is not possible. IGIT SARANG gives us a life and an experience that we will mesmerize for our whole lives. The 4year of degree shall teach us a lot.
Dislikes
- The infrastructure isn't developed properly and roads are covered with cattle sometimes. Reaching the college from a far away place becomes somehow difficult too.
- The college is getting outdated and needs serious trend changes. Faculties are good but somewhere they lack a spirit of teaching due to poor administration.
Remarks :
This prestigious institution is an symbol of a well equipped engineering institutes. The college has lots of records and the alumni network is very strong. The college has well trained faculty. Labs and practicals with research are priority for every student. The student life after classes and academics is good. Rapid functions, debates, speech, competitions take place and winners get hefty prizes. Infrastructure is weak and old. Some labs and equipments are absent. No AC classrooms except seminar halls. Some newcomers may face ragging issues. The atmosphere at night isn't safe for girl boarders. The admission process was normally through OJEE state counseling. Both OJEE AND JEE Main ranks are accepted. After allocation of seats... Students just have to visit the college for further admission process. There is no specific GD/PI or any entrance exam. The universal entrance exam is JEE mains.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Currently I'm pursuing Btech in Chemical Engineering. I'm a 2nd year student here. According to me my course is well balanced. It's not difficult but it's vast. I chose chemical engineering to be present in every field of engineering as chemical engineering is required everywhere to manufacture almost everything. Coming to my department, the labs are well maintained and full of equipment. The mechanical operations lab is under setup and will be completed soon. All the respected faculties in our department are from prestigious institutions. Many faculties have Masters from IITs and NITs. Thier teaching method is easy to understand. The doubts are instantly solved. They teach through DG boards and PDFs. All questions, books, papers everything is available at library too. Faculties are cooperative. One-year divided into 2 main semester papers and 4 internals. The internals are easy to crack but the semesters require some early practice.
Internships Opportunities :
I'll opt for it in future. The name of the company is IOCL located in Paradip . It is a steel industry. Rules are :- Treat the internship as an educational experience Benefit the intern rather than the company Not to replace a regular employee wid an intern Not guarantee a fixed position for an interview after an internship Not directly benefit from the internship Make it clear to all the parties that it is unpaid. The task given about projects are :- Researching and presenting a project: interns may study a project file and make a research on it . Basic questions: answering questions about opening an detailed out let and various schemes Dealing with product challenges : learning to deal with the challenges from the point of origin to the point of consumption.
Placement Experience :
Placement and job opportunities are good here. All students get a level playing field to compete and get thier jobs. All branches are visited by reputed companies such as Tata, TCS, L&T, ARSS, INOX, Arati Steel, Bhusan Steel, JSPL etc. Minimum cgpa sit in interview - 6.5 for almost all companies. Highest package- 10LPA Average package- 5LPA Median package- 4LPA Lowest package- 1.8 LPA Nearly 60 percent students from all branches get the placement during placement drive. After completing my degree, I'm thinking to prepare for GATE,ESE, RRB and many government sector entrances to crack and get a seat in top PSUs or companies. And for further studies, I'll prefer studying MBA from a respected institute.

Campus Life :
The campus life is good. We have everything nearby. The old canteen (oc) of college serves food, snacks, drinks etc. during college intervals. Stalls and stores can also be found in fests and functions. Fest culture of IGIT is huge. Horizon, Odisha's biggest tech fest was organized by IGIT SARANG in March 2024. Aarohan - April Branch fests: Quimica, Vistaar, Pandora etc. also take place during even semesters. Books and papers are readily available in library for issuing and studying. Classrooms are well ventilated with Smart boards and proper lighting and chairs. The sports and extracurricular activities are amazing! Annual sports and college sports are conducted frequently. Martials arts, judo, kabbadi, volley,, cricket etc. every sports are played here. Our college has many groups with lots of enthusiastic members. Ummed- music club andEl diablos, Anonymous - Dance club Gunj- nukkad natak club Many students take part and winners get prizes too. The activities are best here!
Hostel Facilities :
I'm currently residing at Rohini Bhawan. I have a room at ground floor. The rohini bhawan is a three floored girls hostel for 1st year 2 year Btech./MCA/Diploma The prithivi bhawan is the girls hostel for 3rd and 4th year girls. Akash, Aryabhatta, Bhaskar, Brahmos, Surya, Agni Bhawans are hostels for 1,2,3,4 year boys Btech and Diploma respectively. Food at my hostel is average. We have feasts sometimes. Veg people may have some issues as the whole week is covered with non veg. Water is sufficiently available but sometimes tank are not clean. Bathrooms are not cleaned properly. Food is not cooked in proper hygiene and nutritional value is less. Sometimes the hostel walls face seepage due to rain. All room are 6 seated for girls which is a headache in summer seasons. The hostel facility should be improved. New girls hostel is also under construction and will be completed soon for 1st year and 2nd year girls.

There campus placement here are ok startups came here and many big mncs like tcs, flipkart etc. Some department get companies like the MBA but that is an exceptional case. No other department participate in campus drive or placement cell. Students need to apply off campus to get placed.

for placement students need to get atleast 7cgpa. The placement is decent where most students around 85% get placed . Main companies are accenture, tcs, infosys , cognizant etc. Highest package was 9lpa and average was around 4lpa . I plan to work in one of the companies i get placed in.

Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements from third year onwards on a condition that the student has good skills and created good projects. Companies are still coming to ITER since July, various companies like Wipro, Xerox, Paytm, Flipkart, DELL, Microsoft, TCS Infosys and various other MNCs and startups come to the campus for placements and also provide pre placement offers. Currently I have no idea about the highest and average packages as per the company and the profiles offered, but I know that the highest package offered in Iter has been 43 lakhs pa and the average package is around 6lacs-8lacs. There are certain criteria set by the college for the students to be eligible to sit in the placement, out of that more than 85% to 90% of eligible students have secured placements. Students also get internships from second year. After I get a degree and if I land a suitable job then it's okay otherwise I will look to get into civil services or defence.

It has average placements. They also provide training for that. You will be eligible from 4th year. They also provide practice schools where the eligibility is 8 cgpa. They also provide training in the 3rd and 4th year. The companies which I know are Infosys Accenture Capgemini Genpact Mindfire solutions Mindtree. Tcs. pwC Deloitte Inovaare Tata Power Cosmovolt Tech Mahindra etc. They mostly provide the packages in the range 3.5-6 lpa ..The average oncampus placement this year was 4.5 lpa and the highest was 14.5 lpa. The 30 lpa shown was off campus. So you can get jobs according to your skills and cgpa . Overally the placement is just average but roi may be better.

Actually as I am a undergraduate I don't exactly know how much is the eligibility criteria for placement but I know that the guest lecturers are given according to number of classes they do in a month My plans after getting a degree is to give jrf net /gate and to further study in reasearch lines.

Eligibility criteria for placements are based on cgpa cut off and no backlogs are allowed. A few companies that came for recruitment are Infosys, Tcs , Accenture , Cognizant , Dell , Deloitte . Profiles offered are mostly of software engineer and average package is around 600000 per annum . My plan after getting degree is to go into software engineering job .

The placement scenario is quite good as most of the students get placed before the completion of course with a decent package. Average package is around 8lpa and the highest package till now is 60+ lpa.

Yes, we do have a placement cell over here and is quite good. Many well-known companies come to recruit their employees, and the companies are quite satisfied over our senior's hard work and smartness. Many companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Delloyd, etc., come to give good placements to the students at the college. I don't know the exact numbers, but the highest package was around 45 lakhs, and the average package was around 5 lakhs per annum. The average percentage of students getting placements is roughly around 70% to 80%. Currently for me, I don't have a solid plan to what to do but you never know some miracle might happen. Just joking, I do have a plan for the near future, but I am little worried about the future that on one before me start that initiative that I have thought about it.
