COLLEGE LIFE: Expectations VS Reality

- College Garden is well maintained and beautiful.
- Qualified teachers are allotted to every department. And more than 1 teacher are allotted to each subject for better understanding of the subject.
Dislikes
- The Campus is totally affected by floods . During Rainy season, the college is submerged in flood water .
- Teaching methods can be improved to encourage better teacher- student interaction.
Remarks :
Admission in this college is strictly based upon merit . Students are selected on their marks obtained in their previous exam . Online Merits lists and waiting lists are produced for admission. There is also quota reservations for Sc, St and other backward castes.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have always been interested in accounts and Commerce . Hence , opting for this course was the best choice for me . Well qualified and efficient faculty has been appointed and allotted to respective departments.
Placement Experience :
There are minimal or no opportunities for campus placement as there is lack of exposure. Since , the no . Of students in each course is more than 500 , No Internship opportunities are provided . Hence , the question of salary package doesn't arise .
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Approximately 10,000 per year is charged for Bcom course . Around 5000 per sem . There are 2 semesters in each year . Also , under fee waiver scheme , introduced by the Government , Ews Students have the privilege to pay no or minimum admission fees .
Campus Life :
The campus is very beautiful with well maintained gardens . Gym , library and cafeteria are provided to the students for relaxing and chilling. Different competitions are held at times including sports , quiz , singing, dancing , and so on. Several festivals are also celebrated such as Saraswati Puja, Independence Day, etc. There are different club for students including NSS , NCC and so on.
Hostel Facilities :
I didn't opt for a hostel. There are no hostel facilities for females . But there are hostel facilities provided for Boys. And to what I have heard about it's pretty cheap , hygienic and affordable .

Good-moderate faculty but maintenance of every other thing is very much not on time The authority doesn’t seem to be concerned about the students and delays every work and at the last moment you will be running around .

Dream Campus, Not-So-Dream Jobs

There are teachers under which u can work and later they can surely help u land a intership, happened with one of my friend. But as of now department dont directly provide u internship. I dont wanna say vague or old numbers about average or highest placement data, so wont comment on it but overall its not that great but there are exceptions, like there are some brilliant minds who lands an enormous off campus placement.(My 2 seniors who r out of india right now) Last year Bharat electronics BHEL came and took 8 seniors for 13lpa package, some banking companies and TCs comes too. My life in B.Borooah College as a science student
Placement Experience :
Placements At B. Borooah College for a BSc Forget it. There's no placement scene like you hear about. No companies come for recruitment drives. The so-called placement cell just puts up notices for government job ads or maybe a local pharmacy needing a helper. I've never seen a single big name visit campus to hire BSc grads. So there's no list of recruiters, no number of offers, and definitely no talk of high packages. Zero students get placed from here in that way. The plan after the degree is everything. For me, it's going for an MSc. For others, it's preparing for government exams, doing B.Ed., or applying to labs and hospitals directly. This college gives you the valid degree, the ticket to sit for other exams or apply further. It doesn't get you a job. It makes you eligible to go find one yourself. Your future is 100% in your own hands after you walk out.

There are 100% internship in Bsc agriculture are also good the average packages 3 to 4 LPA the highest package is 12 LPA percentage of students getting placements are about 70 - 80% the eligibility criteria depends upon the performance of the student on its practical work and its CGPA

The ratio of placement and job is very poor, this is a college of general degree course, so after passing B.Sc., B.Sc. one does not get a job directly, in future one has to do Masters degree, PhD.But data from the last three/four year revealed that students did get jobs in SBI and some other organization, but the percentage was very low.That is why most of the students after completing normal graduation take admission in courses like Masters and BEd, Deled.And my plan in future is to do Masters from IIT or IISER, after that I want to do PhD.

Life as a BTech Student at IIT guwahati
Placement Experience :
there is a CPI criteria of around 6 to sit for placements. The highest packages for bachelors can go up to 1.5cr. Companies in coding include Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Ola, Uber, finance companies like JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and many more. Highest paying companies are AlphaGrep, Quadeye, JaneStreet but that is very competitive with only people with the best results and from CS getting in. Many people also receive preplacement offers after internships. There are also many companies that visit for product management roles like Ola, Meesho etc. The placement process for Design students is separate. There are also core companies like Texas instruments, that visit.

I choose this course because I am interested in learning coding and I want to seek my future in this line. I am finding some difficulties in understanding the subjects and topics but I believe it is because I am new to this field and new to everything.
