The Truth about IIT Mandi
Likes
- I like about my college is that it is situated amidst mountains, making it a very beautiful, calm and peaceful place as it far away from the city. During the rainy season, the campus's beauty enhances even more
- Another thing I like is that places like Manali, Kullu, Kasol, Bir, Dharamsala etc. are very close to my college, and we can easily travel there by local bus.
Dislikes
- I dislike about my college is that divided into two parts: North campus and South campus, and it takes 15 minutes by bus to travel from North campus to South campus.
- And another thing like dislike about my college is that students stay in the North campus until the 3rd year, and from the 4th year, they are sent to the South campus.
Remarks :
Good aspect is that IIT Mandi is situated at a very beautiful location amidst mountains and has a very scenic beauty. The road to IIT Mandi is quite winding, and personally, I don't like because I suffer from motion sickness. To get into this college we have to first pass JEE main exam and then JEE Advanced exam after 12th Exam
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have keen interest in Physics that's why I choose this. All professors or faculty holds a PhD degree. Every professor has different teaching method. There are two semesters in a year in which we have one mid semester exams and end semester exams. Difficulty Level depends on Professor.
Internships Opportunities :
My branch is research-based branch. So, there is no company is like which offered research jobs. I don't have idea about this. But we can do research internships under our professor during summer and winter vacation.
Placement Experience :
Basically, we have Placement cell which tell us which company is company so that we can prepare for that in our 2nd year-end semester exams. Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Zomato all big tech company come in our campus for recruitment.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
If you are from SC, ST then your tuition fee is waived you only need to pay Hostel/Mess fee. If you are from General category above 5 LPA annual income, then Tuition fee is Rs.1,31,160 If you are from General category below 1 LPA annual income, then Tuition fee is Rs. 64,493
Campus Life :
Exodia: Cultural fest of the IIT Mandi in the month of March-April Xpecto: Technical fest of the IIT Mandi in the month of April Ranneti: Sports Fest of the IIT Mandi in the month of October-November Classrooms are quite good and advanced. All sports are available in the campus.
Hostel Facilities :
Mess food sometimes good and sometimes bad. It depends on the tender of the mess Hostel room have wi-fi, geysers, induction, oven, kettle. It also has Table tennis table. Some hostels have single room and some have double room.

Placements are decent. Eligibility is typically at CGPA 6.0 or higher. Recruiters include TCS, Infosys ,Oracle, Wellsfargo etc.Highest package this year reached around 3 crores per annum as it was a foreign offer.

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs
