- infrastructure is really good , and beautiful both at day and night, and is still being developed.
- campus life is really good if youve got good friends. behind every academic block there are snack shops, and a main market of thapar's own, the COS market. you get every daily life essentials here. just you have to bargain a little.
Dislikes
- I dont like the PDA culture here. it is very uncomfortable for some people including me. you cant even make friends of opposite gender, as people have always relationships going on in their head, and if you have a good understanding as friends, then the looks you get ake you uncomfortable.
- there are guards everywhere. you can enjoy yourself, they wont say anything, but to a certain level only. and if they find what you're doing uncomfortable, they directly report to higher authorities, and call your parents.
Remarks :
I simply chose this college because i could not get in to a good branch in any gov college deespite of scoring 95%ile in the entrance. I was having option of similar tier 2 private colleges like thapar. i cose thapar because it is near my home. but I wanna say that all aboout thapar in the market is a myth, yes it has huge crowd, but it has really good infrastructure, and faculty and provides endless work and networking opportunities if you work on yourself seriously. the only bad aspect is that students are really lazy, schedules are really hectic, and the so open PDA culture (more than drugs, drugs are very little just like any other engg college). I got admitted in the first round of admission itself, as i scored 95 percentile. the oldest branch (COE) gets as down to around 84 percentile. THE CSE and other computer related branches (COPC COBS COPS etc in Thapar) closed at around 93 - 96. the electronics branches close at around 85 - 90.
Course Curriculum Overview :
COE is one of the oldest courses of THAPAR. the only difference between coe and copc is the crowd. COE hosts around 900 students and COPC around 350. I chose the course because of i am interested in computers. all the faculty, ranking juniors to seniors, are PHD teachers, who just vary in their experiences, else they are all highly educated. many senior proffessors are IIT graduates and PHD holders, and have taught there as well. The accessibility to proffs and approachabiility varies from proff to proff and their mood (big role), like in any college. every 1.5 months there are MST , and every 1.5 months from MST, there are ESTs. In between all these, there are hell lot of assignments, projects and classes, and ofcourse you cant bunk because 75%attendance criteria. and dont think of proxies, proffs are very smart and have ways to tackle such things.
Internships Opportunities :
nope.but there are endless opportunities, and the placement cell keeps you updated and motivates you to participate in various internship and market friendly events through mail. if you have skills, you can apply.
Placement Experience :
no idea (frst yr student) but the placement cell constantly mails you and lets you know abot the available opportunities. if you have required skillset, you can apply for the events and participate in them.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
there are two types of courses COURSE A and B. type B courses are a bit less expensive though there is not much difference than the tuition fee of type A ie 297500 as of 2024. There are a lot of scholarships, but due to huge crowd, the number of awarded students still feels less. You can check the details of scholarships on thapar.edu/students/pages/scholarships.
Campus Life :
THERE is always something going on at thapar. one event starts before the previous one ends. when you enter college, you are greeted with a FROSH week, where you explore thapar, make friends and interact with seniors, while enjoying a concert, society fair, blind dates, etc. apart from that, concerts, food fests, nofficial parties on holi diwali etc are common. the library is top class, one of its own, you will not want to leave the library once you get used to it. it is centrally conditioned and you want feel much cold in winters, or hot in summers. there is a whole dedicated sports area called SPORTS COMPLEX. sports materials are provided from sprts office in exchange of your IDs. every branch has its society, which host events for everyone. you can participate and have fun while gaining insightful knowledge as well. the campus life is fab, just make some friends, and enjoy in free time, as much you want.
Hostel Facilities :
hostels are also very well furnished and almost all hostels are air conditioned. now i think even first year students will get access to air conditioned hostels. hostels vary around 40 - 75k in prices. (based on number of people sharing, and AC accomodation). the mess fee is around 25k. these are per semester prices. you are alloted hostels on merit basis (jee for 1st year and cgpa for 2nd onwards) mess food is amazing, and not like other colleges where the dal has no dal or something like that. its like homely food. sometimes even better than homely food.

Placement Experience :
To apply for placements in LPU you need to have 6+cgpa mostly. there no company as i know that went without recruiting any student. the highest was on campus was 51.03lakhs Microsoft and average was 5-6 lakhs. the students around 85 %will be placed .my plan was to do a decent job in any MNC.
Life at cgc landran.
Placement Experience :
Placement at CGC landran is decent around 70 to 80% student got placed based on your skills. The eligibility criteria usually includes minimum 60% marks with no active backlogs. Top recruiter companies includes TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Capgemini. The average package is around 3-4 lpa while highest package can go up to 10 to 12 lpa. Multiple offers are made every year across different domain.

Internships Opportunities :
I haven't done any intenship yet but Yes, internships are available at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Mohali. Companies include TCS, Infosys, startups. Roles: Web Dev, QA, Data Analyst. Stipend ?5k–15k. Tasks include coding, testing, and project work.

The eligibility for placement is no backlog or reappear and CGPA IS above is 6 and fresher they get placement for 6thsem based on the skills and knowledge of the student and they provide a salary of 3 to 12 lakhs per/ year and recently SPICEJET company give around 8 lakhs CTC for 5 to 8 students and my plans after competing the degree is to do higher education in design modeling.

As the course is designed for pharmaceutical industry so the companies like mankind, sunpharma, macloid, overseas etc. Are top recruiters. The average package is 3-3.5 lakh per annum and highest goes upto 4lpa. As after masters most of the students goes for higher studies and teaching so the placement rate is low.

Overall Placement rate is about 60 to 70 percent for every branches . Recruiters provided descent opportunites to the students. Above 7 CGPA students get eligible. Some recruiter are Infosys, TCS, wipro, Siemens etc

Since the college comes under an institution it opens the gate for various company and even those which just require a graduation degree instead of a specific field. Cadila Lupin etc visits every year. Good 60 to 70 students gets placed.

The placement are good but there are a lot of criterias for the placement and the college faculties force us to take the placement in the development roles to show that the college has 100% placement.There are less companies for the consultancy or data based jobs. The college doesn't provide any on campus intership. They provide intership in the college Startups and they pay very very less and they exploit the interns as lot. I got only 500 rupees for doing 1 month internship and working 6 hours a week.
