- The building exudes old vibes making it look nostalgic and the library is full of books.
- The rooms are pretty accommodative and students can relax in common room when there are no classes.
Dislikes
- Due to old structure, it may not be up to the mark due to many modern demand for tools of students in their perusal of education further.
- The people are usually good, but sometimes very politically inclined.
Remarks :
No, there were no competitive exams or group discussions, or interviews for the admission to the college. It is usually based on the merit list and marks of the concerned subjects in class 12th which is considered, along with class 10th marks conjointly. The cut-off differed year to to year. In my time the cut-off was 60%.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The faculty was quite good in English. Whenever any problem arose, they made them available to their students through additional classes, group discussions or through calls. Especially, Partha Sir, Soaham Sir, and Ratan Sir, quite a few were excellent in their teaching.
Internships Opportunities :
No, I did not opt for any internships. However, the internships are good as per the opinion of the other peers who got them placed later through their network. However, the main efforts are to be made for anything here by their own selves.
Placement Experience :
There is an employment and placement cell where students can get guidance regarding their employment after college. The seniors who were placed also help the juniors. Often, there are expert sessions, or career counselling organised in the college auditorium for the guidance of students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As per my knowledge from 2019-2024 the fees has only moderately increased. Over and all, the average fees per year remain around 3500-4000 based on the course or subject combinations. For Ars subjects the fees is usually lower than it's for the subjects of science combination. For example, if one takes history, philosophy, or Bengali/Hindi with core subjects like English Literature, the fee can be around 400-450 rupees. On the other hand, if the subjects are geography, human science, physics or journalism , the course fees increase up to 800 rupees per sem. Additional clearances like, library, festivities, and miscellaneous can be up to 500 per year (or as per discretion of the college authority).
Campus Life :
There were chess clubs, sports club, and magazine clubs, where students, according to their interests could join. There were some seniors who would help us get into those hobbies and activities in the clubs. Also, NCC committee where cadets were trained was available according to the interests of many students.
Hostel Facilities :
No, there was no hostel. Only it was a day college, where the facilities was according to the need of the day time. However, there are PGs nearby the college, where students could stay in affordable range.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
