The cultural and academic heritage of Presidency University is a big determinant in choosing Presidency. The experienced faculty as well as the vivid campus are also a few of the proponents that made me choose Presidency over other colleges in Kolkata. The admission procedure involves the entrance test conducted by the WBJEE board, namely PUBDET & PUMDET for Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses respectively. Students who clear this test are then called for an interview-cum-verification and allotted seats based on merit. Government approved reservation seats are also kept in each department. Each student is allowed to select a maximum of 2 streams to apply for. Preparation for the admission tests involves thorough involvement in your subject of interest and basic English and Math skills.
The Course Curriculum varies from Department to Department; although all the Departments now follow the syllabus prescribed in the NEP(2020), with a 4-year Graduate degree. It is highly recommended that you apply for the stream you wish to pursue, as otherwise, it would later be challenging to switch streams due to the limited number of seats in each department and the cut-throat competition. The faculty strength across the whole University is a little less than it should be, but the faculty is aptly Qualified, each proficient in their specific field of interest. Exams and assessments continue over the semesters, weekly or monthly, and these add up to the final CGPA. Government-sponsored scholarships and various private scholarships are accepted in this University, through the office of the Dean of Students.
Companies visit the campus for campus placement, but mostly for Post-grad students. Undergraduate students have very little scope in the field of job, as a fresher. Internship opportunities are sometimes handed by the department faculty to their students, to help students expose themselves to the job environment. Recruiters from KPMG, Deloitte, Microsoft and several private and public banks visit the campus, to make job offers for Post-grad students in various fields like Math's, Statistics, Physics, Economics, etc. Nearly 50% of the students manage to get a post in either of the companies after several interview rounds. Companies that offer on-campus jobs are mainly suited for people who have completed their Masters', and thus like other students, I too plan to complete my Masters' with specialization after completing Bachelors' degree
Campus Life at Presidency is something cherishable for a lifetime! The Student Council organises the bi-annual fest "Milleu", generally conducted in July. Apart from that, Student Unions also conduct 2 fests on campus, "iCON", conducted in Spring (Feb-March) and "ISPAT", conducted in Autumn (Oct-Nov). The campus is well equipped with all the amenities required for students, in their academic journey. It has dedicated libraries for Science stream courses and Arts stream courses, each filled with the relevant books of each subject that the students can loan for 21 days, and re-issue on due. Classrooms are suitably air-conditioned and equipped with modern gadgets to facilitate audio-visual learning. Students have formed clubs to promote extra-curricular activities, ranging from Cricket, Football, Basketball and Badminton to Music, Arts and Dance. There are hostel facilities for Boys and Girls separately across town. Registration for the same has to be done through the Dean's office.
Placement is I do not say that is very good but I would say that treatment is almost okay and that's up to you and lot of MNC companies came in our College group. There are internship opportunities industrial training like Euphoria ardent like this MNC and ideas
In this college we have five departments, civil, computer science, mechanical, electrical and mechanical respectively and the stops are very good and the faculties are highly qualified and they are about almost everyone is iitiab
Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.
For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies
Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.
Still don't about the placements and job opportunities . I haven't even discussed with my seniors about the opportunities after the graduation we get from college.
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
