This university is in Jammu and I am from Jammu too. So this was a major point for me to get into this university. To get into this, I took the CUET exam which is the Common University Entrance Test. Apart from that there was nothing else in this. We were shortlisted based on our scores in the exams related to our subject. The cut-off was also not very high. A mediocre student can get into this easily.
I have chosen economics since I enjoy studying this subject. It interests me so I opted to go forward with this course. The faculty members of my department are very nice. All the associate professors have done their PhD in economics and some are even doing their research as well. I admire their teaching methods as well.
As I stated earlier I do not have any internships as of now since I am only in the 2nd year and we are the first batch for this course so have no seniors as well. But I have seen students from other departments who do their internships but I cannot provide any further details.
So we have a separate placement department where the professors help students in placements and internships and help them secure it. But as per our department is concerned, my batch is the first for this course and we have no seniors we are in the second year so we have no placements as of yet. However, campuses do offer placements after course completion.
So the fee for my course which is an integrated M.Sc in economics (5 years) course is nearly about 20000 yearly. We are required to pay a fee per semester like every six months. During my first year, I paid about 15000 per semester but after that, we are required to pay 10000 per semester for up to 4 remaining years. So in the first year, it's 30000 yearly but after that, it's 20000. Apart from that there are no additional charges like management, caution, etc etc. That is all. I am not currently under any reservation or scholarship but since this is a central university all the scholarship programs which are by the central government will be applicable here.
Campus Life there is not exactly up to the mark. One of the reasons is that the hostels of Central University are not at the campus but at a place in Sainik Colony Jammu. However, the hostels are almost done there and students will be shifted in January 2025. But as of now, it's not there. The university is still under construction in most of the areas many buildings are being constructed as of yet and from what I see every day by 2025 those buildings will be completed too. We do have a library in the main building but a whole new library is also under construction. We have a fest called Udaan which is celebrated in March and there are all types of activities there. We have a sports meet as well called Combatica.
Yes, I have opted for a hostel facility, and as mentioned earlier the hostels are not on the campus but at a different place. Though the hostels are being constructed we will be shifted there in January 2025. The registration process is simple too. All we have to do is fill out a form and we will be allotted a hostel. So we have 12000 for 6 months and apart from that, we have to give an additional 3000 per month for the mess. Food quality is great though.
For placement University conducted job fair for the students where Banks, Private sector industries HR's also visited to take interview and thoroughly conducted the interview and make selection of the deserving students.
Placements in our college are average only, not very high but not zero also. Few companies come every year for campus recruitment, like TCS, Wipro, Infosys and some local construction firms. They mostly offer roles like junior engineer, site supervisor or trainee. Highest package was around 8 LPA for IT profile, average goes between 3-4 LPA. Almost 50-60% students get placed from campus, rest students go for off campus or higher studies. Eligibility for placement is you need minimum 6.5 CGPA and no active backlogs, also they check communication skills in interviews. No big mass recruiters like in IITs, but still some opportunities are there if you prepare well. If not getting placed through campus, I plan to try off campus drives and also thinking to prepare for govt exams or maybe do M.Tech. College do conduct some training sessions and mock interviews but main thing depends on self preparation.
Here almost 95% students got placed.average salary is around 6-7 lpa.Companies like wipro, infuses, bhel visited here.my plan after degree is to do mtech from iits. Highest package is around 45 lakhs (off campus). On campus it is around 25 lpa.
I am always moved by my college’s course curriculum which is multicultural and gives students a wide range of choices. The courses are demanding but the lecturers are always ready to provide support and counsel. It is affordable to all through scholarships and fair fees.
Eligibility criteria for placement depends on the company, majorly all companies asks for minimum CGPA of 7 or 7.5. Some past major companies which comes for recruitment are amazon, sprinklr, paytm, nvidia, ICICI bank, HDFC bank, maruti suzuki etc. According to 2023 data, highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package offered was 18 LPA, minimum package was 5 LPA. Percentage of students get placed in 2023 is 85%. My plans after getting the degree is to either works on corporate or to prepare for UPSC.
quality of teaching is crucial, instructor give their best in the class and class strength is divides in two section according their enrollment number.i think fees is affordable and fees waiver for different category.
The eligibility criteria for the placements of jobs was 65% in the grade card if graduation. The recruitment process was followed by a job examination and job interview. Cipla, SKIMS were some of the recruiters that visited the university and offered almost 15 jobs. The average package offered by the recruiters was 40-70 thousands per month. And the highest package offered by the recruiters was 1.1 Lakh per month. In this recruitment process almost 40% students got placements. I got a private job in a private pharmacy company. Now, I have chosen this job as my carrier after getting the degree.
Decent placement is seen here.Students get placed from semester 7 .TCs,Adobe etc companies comes here to give opportunities for students.Highest package of last year from chemical branch is 13 lakh and median is 7.5 lakh.
There were no job or placement opportunities available and it didn’t bothered the college. The main aim of the students as well included to just pass the degree and get out of there. Faculties also discouraged about the job market scenario outside the college which alleviated the trouble.
Previously there was 100% on campus placement in university but now it's only somewhat 70%. Companies come for placement also they select students but most of time it sells based company not a product based company also they offer quit low packages. Most of students try off Campus Placement where they get some good offers. Average package is about 5-7 lakh
