DM, M.Ch, and Fellowship Admission
Admission to DM and M.Ch requires a relevant MD or MS qualification, a NEET SS score and participation in MCC SS Counselling. Clinical Fellowships are hospital-based programmes lasting from 6 months to 1 year. Qualified specialists seeking sub-speciality training apply directly to the relevant AIMS Kochi department.
Amrita School of Medicine Kochi Placements and Career Outcomes
Because the school belongs to a private deemed university, its MBBS graduates have no compulsory government service bond. After their internship, they may prepare for NEET PG, enter Kerala's private healthcare sector or seek postgraduate study overseas. This differs from the service requirements commonly attached to government medical colleges and AIIMS institutions.
Most MBBS graduates choose NEET PG as the route to an MD or MS degree. Clinical work across the 34 specialities at AIMS supports their practical learning and, according to alumni, helps with NEET PG preparation. Some strong graduates also continue into residency through the school's MD and MS programmes.
| Career Stage or Pathway | Typical Compensation | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MBBS Internship | INR 15,000 to 20,000 per month as stipend | Rotating internship at AIMS Kochi |
| NEET PG followed by MD/MS residency | INR 50,000 to 90,000 per month as stipend | AIMS Kochi or another college |
| Private practice or hospital employment after MBBS and before PG | INR 60,000 to 1,50,000 per month | Private clinics and hospitals in Kerala |
| Senior Resident or Consultant after MD/MS | INR 1.5 to 6 LPM | Private hospitals in Kerala, metropolitan cities or the Middle East |
Kerala's developed healthcare system and high healthcare spending support demand for specialist doctors. Graduates work in private hospitals across Kerala, Bengaluru and Chennai, as well as in the Middle East and the UK. At the postgraduate and super-speciality levels, AIMS Kochi also recruits consultants and faculty members from its alumni community.
