Q: Ques: What is Gauhati University Research Eligibility Test (GURET)?

Ans: Gauhati University conducts the GURET Entrance Exam for admissions to PHD courses offered by the University. GURET is divided into two tests, the first one includes general aptitude, computer knowledge and reasoning abilities while the second includes subject-specific knowledge. After this selected students are called for GURET counseling.

Q: Ques: How can students apply for admission in GU for the PG Program?

Ans: Candidates have to visit the official website of the university and apply for PG. Students can apply in online mode only. Candidates have to give the Gauhati entrance examination in order to take admission. The final application form will be verified by the screening committee of the University. Eligible candidates then will be called for further procedure.

Q: Ques: What is the paper pattern of JEE Mains for admission in B.Tech. Courses at GU?

Ans: In JEE main there are 90 maximum questions and candidates have to attempt at least 75 questions to attain a good score. These 90 questions are of total 300 marks. 4 marks are given for every correct entry; while1 mark is deducted for each incorrect entry.

Q: Ques: What is GUBEDCET in GU and paper pattern of GUBEDCET 2024?

Ans: Admission to the B.Ed program is based on the GU B.Ed common entrance test which is of 70% weightage. The Entrance test is conducted in MCQ format for 2 hours and consists of the 100 questions from which section A (general English) is of 120 marks and section B (general knowledge) is of 120 marks, section C (numerical ability & reasoning) is of 120 marks and section D (current Indian education) is of 40 marks. 4 marks are given for every correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect.

Gauhati University Admission 2024 is ongoing for the program through GURET. Apply till March 2024. GURET will be held on July 2024. Admission portal
GU invites applications for integrated M.Com and Btech (Biotechnology). Apply till June 2024.

Gauhati University Admission is offered to various UG ,PG and doctorate Programs. UG Courses at the GU include B.Tech., B.Ed, B.Sc,,BCA, BBA, BCom, LLB,BPT, BVOC, BA LLB and BA, while PG Programs include M.Tech.,M.Ed, MBA, MCom,M.Li.Sc, M.Sc.,MA,MCA, and LLM. Along with these, Ph.D and M.phil programs are also offered by the University at research level. Candidates can register themselves for any course by filling the online application forms available on the official website of GU.

Candidates must complete 10+2 education with PCM in science stream with 50% marks and 45% marks for general and reserved category respectively for taking admission in B.Tech. Course. Selection to B.Tech is through the JEE Exam or CEE score.
For M.Tech Admission, Candidates with BE/B.Tech. with 50% marks and 45% marks for general and reserved category respectively are eligible to apply. Scores of GATE or Gauhati entrance examination is also required.
MBA Admission is based on CAT/ Gauhati entrance examination scores. Candidates applying for MBA must have completed Bachelor’s Degree with 50%
Admission to other UG & PG programmes will be given through the Gauhati entrance examination conducted by GU.
Admission to Ph.D. courses will be given through the GURET or Research-based Entrance Test.

Gauhati University is the oldest government University of northern east India. GU is accredited with grade A by NAAC and recognised by UGC, and AICTE. The University was established in 1948 and gained 64th position in overall category by NIRF 2022 and 36th in university category. More than 340 colleges are affiliated with GU.

Selection Criteria

B.Tech: admission of candidates will be entrance exam based (JEE/CEE).

M.Tech: Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's Degree in the relevant stream with 50% marks and 45% marks for general and reserved category respectively.

Eligibility Criteria

For admission to M.Phil & Ph.D, Candidates must have completed a Master's Degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 55 % marks (50% for reserved category candidates) from GU or any other recognized University.
Students appearing in their postgraduate final examinations can also apply for admission into the PhD Programmes. However, they will be required to furnish their results before the final selection list of successful applicants.
An applicant who is in a service, should have a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer before admission are eligible

Selection Criteria

For admission in Ph.D and M.Phil Candidates have to qualify the Research-based Entrance Test UGC NET/ICMR/JRF/DBT or GU RET based on CAP followed by Counseling.

Gauhati University Application Process 2024

In order to take admission in any course, students have to fill the application form online. The application process is common for all the courses offered by the university. They have to follow the below-mentioned steps to fill the application form of the university:

Step 1. Visit the official website of GU https://www.gauhati.ac.in/.
Step 2. Then, Register yourself by providing some basic details such as name, active Email ID, Phone Number, etc.
Step 3. Now, login and proceed for filing the application form.
Step 4. Start filling the application form by providing all personal , academic and professional details.
Step 5. After filling all the details correctly, upload all scanned passport size photographs, pay 1000 as CAP through online and submit the application form.
Step 6. Lastly, print out the application form for references.

What I Liked

Campus is very large with lush and green environment.
Located in a very beautiful location where th food transportation.

What I didn’t like

Very slow response from the official regarding documentation.
Laack of proper hostel facilities in the campus.

Remarks:

The college is situated at Guwahati which is tre capital of Assam. So this serves students with better transport facilities and also with better opportunities. Students are needed to appear for entrance exams.

Worth Considering Institute if you are looking for a PG or UG programme.

What I Liked

The faculty is very good. They provide proper helps for your problems.
The institute undoubtedly have a vast alumni network.

What I didn’t like

The first thing I dislike is the hostel facility. The rooms are very untidy.
Hate the ragging culture of the institute.

Remarks:

Gauhati University is situated in Guwahati which is the capital of Assam. So it provides me with very good environment and transport facilities are also good in Guwahati. The admission process is fully online. You need to appear for entrance exams for taking admission into the university.

What I Liked

The infrastructure is pretty good with lot of classrooms

What I didn’t like

The major thing i dislike is support team of this college.
There are no placements they should work in this too.

Remarks:

The factor that made me to choose this college is its affordable for me and the for a person who is travelling from home to college. There are no written test for admission in this college it is merit based depends on your marks.

What I Liked

I like the campus very much,Especially the greenary of the campus .

Remarks:

The admission process depends on the percentage we score in our class 12 board exam.As i belong from the minor community its lucky enough for me to get admission in the college with less cutoff.But now i heard that their is an entrance exam to qualify for taking admission in the university.

Admission process is based on merit. Cut off is 60% above. It is based on previous degree marks.. We have to fill a form and then they will publish a merit list.so whose marks are better they will get admission.every year it changes the cut off...so it is approximately 55 to 65

Gauhati Commerce College : Gear up your Life

What I Liked

I love college campus life as the timing of the college is perfect from morning 8am to 1 pm and after 1 pm I can work on my internship program too. Teachers are so professional and experienced that the process for everything becomes so easy going . I have made such a great friends in this college who will remain forever with me. College even have some great scheme for student to earn money so student can handle their own expenses and be independently strong.
Infrastructure: college has great infrastructure being a goverment college classes are equipped by AC rooms, projector in every class room with CCTV cameras all over the class and college. Collefe has swimming pool, large firld for cricket, basketball court, badminton court, football court,. A huge building for indoor games . A respective gym for student to maintain a healthy life . A huge library for student who can study till they wish for with proper security.

What I didn’t like

Women room: As college have a small women common room as it is not suffient for student. The number of washroom are little less which create a actual chaos. There is no women hygiene product available in washroom.
Language barrier: As the college is goverment so teacher and professor and even security speak in native language which ia very hard to understand by the student who comes from different states. As guwahati is the main city in North east India . All over the NE student comes to this college so the native language actually creates a barrier. so Considering English to be baaic language would be great.

Remarks:

The admission is based on merit basis. But I really think college should go for written exam as it is on the merit basis and has reservation quota so some student really lacks the opportunity. The cut off of the college is really high as in Assam it is the only best college. But I really think now that college should go for written exam or some kind of any test to be able to get genuine and authentic talented student in the class.

Reviewing Gauhati University

What I Liked

The main attraction of the university is it's campus which is very aesthetic.
The faculties are mind blowing and they are really hardworking.

What I didn’t like

The washrooms are needed to be more clean for the students.
The hostels should be more exposed to light as they are more surrounded by trees.

Remarks:

The major factor that I opted for the university is that it provides a five year integrated masters program for students which is affordable for various sects of people. The admission is mainly taken on the basis of percentage secured in the 12th board exam.

What I Liked

My college have a very good infrastructure like big ground where we can play and the college campus also is very beautiful with lot's of trees and beautiful flowers.
We also have our own garden in our college we also have swimming pool and all kinds of outdoor and indoor games.My college is also accessible for person with disability they have ramps.

What I didn’t like

My college lack in some aspects like advance features in our ground like basketball court.
My college should work on the auditorium because it's very old and they should also provide music instruments in our college as well.

Remarks:

I choose this college because they have many facilities available in the college like good teachers and supportive staff the faculty is very good the admission process is that you have to pay fees once during admission and later during exam the exam name is sessional exam and final exam the cut of is same for every students.
