Remarks:
Because online degree is very convenient to study and you can easily get admission in IGNOU form everywhere. Admission process was so easy . No entrance exam was conducted. Need to have a score 50% or more in UG.

They don't hold classes during weekdays
One has to self study a lot and become an autodidact in order to progress further in academics.

I chose IGNOU because of recent changes made to the curriculum in the year 2024. I was waiting for the new curriculum to make it possible to complete bachelor's in 4 years so that it can be applicable for foreign exchange programs and further masters outside India without the need for having to complete a bridge course. It's heavily convenient, the resources are available online, you merely have to finish assignments before the submission date, attend practical classes on Sundays and appear for the Yearly Examinations.

IGNOU follows the Credit System for all its courses and diploma programs. The Credit System is a special way of measuring the course requirements to complete a course including lectures, classes, assignments, and term-end examinations. Here are a few points about the IGNOU Credit System.
Credit is a measure or unit that shows the total study hours required by a student to complete a specific IGNOU course in any IGNOU Study Centre. As per the norms stated by IGNOU, One Credit is equal to 30 study hours. Each Credit is equivalent to 30 hours of study hours including all the offline lectures, listening to audio study materials and watching videos from the IGNOU portal, understanding the study material, writing assignments, and attending counseling sessions.
Thus, a 4-credit course comprises 120 study hours and a 6-credit course comprises 180 study hours. This helps the students to know how much academic effort they have to put in to complete the whole course successfully within the given duration. Completion of an academic course from IGNOU (a degree course or a diploma course) requires successful completion of the projects, assignments, and term-end examinations as per the requirement of each IGNOU course.
IGNOU has a specific operation for issuing certificates to students after they complete the assignments and term-end examinations. Normally, the period for receiving your IGNOU certificates may vary depending on several factors which we will discuss in brief.
After completing the given assignments and theory exams for the desired course, your results are processed and announced online through the IGNOU Online Portal. IGNOU generally announces their results within 45 days to 60 days after the last date of the term-end examination. After the results are published on the IGNOU website, the university updates the status on the IGNOU’s database where students can check their marks for individual subjects for the desired course.
After the results are announced, the process of issuing certificates is started by the IGNOU team which could again take around a few weeks to a few months. This slight delay could happen due to the administrative workload that includes records verification, preparation, and dispatch of certificates.
Students generally get their provisional certificates and mark sheets quite early (within 1 to 2 months from the date of the result declaration). However, the final degree or diploma certificate from IGNOU is issued during their convocation ceremony, which is held annually at your respective IGNOU Regional Office. If in any case, you have missed the convocation ceremony, then IGNOU will send the certificates through post to your registered permanent address.
IGNOU Scholarship is a financial support program by IGNOU given to students from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Economically Weaker Sections, and Physically Handicapped Students. Students from the Weaver community and transgender community can also avail of the scholarships provided by IGNOU. Every year, thousands of students apply for the IGNOU Scholarships program but the selection procedure is done on a first come first serve basis.
Students can get the Scholarship form from their IGNOU Regional Offices. They have to fill out the scholarship form and then get it attested by the competent authorities. After that, it has to be submitted back to their respective IGNOU Regional Offices to apply for the IGNOU Scholarship. Apart from that, candidates also attach important documents while applying for the IGNOU Scholarship including an Aadhaar Card, Birth Certificate, Academic Mark Sheets of Class X and XII, Income Certificate, Caste Certificate, etc.
The amount of IGNOU Scholarship also varies according to the program offered by IGNOU and the reservation category of the candidates. For the M.Phil program, students will get a scholarship amount of Rs. 5,000 per month whereas for the Ph.D. program, students will get a scholarship amount of Rs. 8,000 per month.
The students must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for the IGNOU Scholarship which is given below -
Students should not be above 35 years of age while applying for the program.
Students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes can avail of this scholarship provided by IGNOU. Apart from that, students who belong to the Weaver Community, and Transgender Community and are physically handicapped are also eligible for this scholarship program.
The annual income of the candidate’s family should not exceed more than Rs. 2.5 Lakhs per annum including all sources.
Many IGNOU Candidates are a little bit confused about the minimum marks or passing grades required to pass the Assignments given for the academic session of any IGNOU Program. After taking admission to any IGNOU Study Centre, every student wants to know how much marks are required to pass the theory exams as well as the assignments.
If you want to pass the IGNOU Assignment for any IGNOU course, then the candidates must get 40% marks as minimum passing marks (40 marks out of 100 marks). If the candidate still fails to score the minimum passing marks after submitting the assignment, then the candidate needs to submit the assignment again to IGNOU.
IGNOU Assignments marks play an important role in the assessment as the assignment marks and theory marks both are important for the final marks of the assessment. Each assignment normally accounts for 30% of the total course grade marks, whereas the remaining 70% of marks come from the marks scored in TEE examinations.
Therefore, it is mandatory for students to strictly follow the assignment submission deadlines. Late submission of the assignments could deduct your assignment marks or reject your assignment which could affect your overall marks for the specific IGNOU Course.
IGNOU Hall Ticket for June 2024 (Term-End Examination) has been released on the IGNOU website. In the latest update, IGNOU has revised the TEE Exam Date for the June 2024 Exams. Due to its clash with the UGC NET (National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission) Exam in June 2024, IGNOU has delayed the originally scheduled Term-End Examinations (June 2024 Session).
IGNOU conducts its Term-End Examinations (TEE) twice yearly in June and December. Lakhs of students throughout the country appear in these exams conducted for undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses offered by IGNOU. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) generally updates the assignment status depending on the submission schedule and evaluation process. While there isn’t a fixed date for the status update regarding the assignments, the status is normally updated within a few weeks to a few months after the submission of the assignment.
Here is a detailed overview of the process regarding the assignment status -
Submission Phase - Students must submit their assignments by the deadline given for each academic session of every IGNOU program. For instance, for the January session, assignments are generally submitted by March or April, and for the July session, assignments are normally submitted by September or October.
Evaluation Phase - Once the assignments are submitted, they are sent to the IGNOU evaluators to evaluate the assignments. This process can take a few weeks depending on the availability of evaluators and the number of submissions by the students.
Updating Phase - After the evaluation process, the marks are compiled and uploaded to the IGNOU portal. This update of marks generally happens in batches and can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Normally, students can expect their assignment status to be updated by late May to June for the January session and by late November to December for the July session.
Check the Status Online - Students can check the status of their assignments within the “Student Zone” section on the official IGNOU website. They need to log in with their enrollment number to view the status of their submitted assignments.

In the context of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the Control Number is a unique 11-digit number assigned to a student when a student submits an online application for a specific course or program at the IGNOU Online Admission Portal. This number serves multiple purposes during the application process and enrollment process at IGNOU, providing seamless management and proper tracking of student records at IGNOU.
When a student submits his/her application form to any IGNOU Regional Centre/ Study Centre (through online or offline mediums), an 11-digit Control Number is generated and assigned to the form. This number is very important for multiple reasons -
Tracking and Reference - The 11-digit Control Number allows both IGNOU and the applicant to track the status of the application (mainly admission at an IGNOU institute). If there are any queries or problems regarding the application, the Control Number can be used to instantly find the specific form in the IGNOU’s University Database.
Identification Purpose - The Control Number works as a specific identification code, preventing any confusion with other IGNOU students. This is specifically important for a large educational institute like IGNOU, which manages the track records of a large number of applicants.
Communication Purpose - The 11-digit Control Number is often required for any type of communication with the university (IGNOU), whether it is for any queries, assistance, or a continuation. This assures that the university’s staff can help the student effectively by referring them to the correct application.
Candidates must understand every step carefully before writing their IGNOU Assignment to avoid any type of error or mistake. There are some steps or instructions that you must keep in mind while writing your IGNOU Assignment. Take a look at the step-by-step instructions on how to write and create an IGNOU Assignment properly so that you’ll get good marks for the assignment.
Write Handwritten Notes - Always make sure you should write only handwritten notes as IGNOU only accepts handwritten assignments. Therefore, you should not type or print your assignments.
Use A4 Size Paper - Ensure that you write your assignments on A4 size paper or foolscap while writing your IGNOU assignments.
Extra Space for Comments - After you finish your answer, leave at least one or two lines blank on the assignment so that the evaluator can give his feedback regarding your assignment.
Choice of Pen - To complete their assignments during each TEE session for every IGNOU course, candidates can use either blue or black colored pens to write their assignments. Candidates are not allowed to use red or any other colored pens to write their IGNOU assignment.
Choice of Paper - Instead of using Blank White Paper to write your assignments, IGNOU evaluators or officials often recommend A4-size ruled paper to write your assignments.
Good Handwriting - Apart from that, having good handwriting can help you to make your IGNOU assignment more effective and understandable.
Avoid plagiarism or copying from other students - Copied answers from other students will get you zero marks on the assignment. Ensure that you don’t copy the assignment from another student, otherwise, the evaluators from IGNOU will instantly reject your assignment and you won’t get any marks for that.
Make the assignment presentable - Once you have completed the assignment writing task, use a paper file to organize all the assignments properly and present your arrangements in a well-organized manner with a beautiful front page.
