JMI admits students through different routes for different programs, so the process changes by course. Many UG and PG courses use JMI entrance tests, while selected programs use national exams such as JEE Main, NEET-UG, CUET, NATA, NCET, and CLAT wherever the university has specified them. For example, B.Tech admission is based on JEE Main 2026 Paper 1, while MBA admission includes the JMI entrance test with GD and PI. The regular B.Tech fee is INR 19,525 per year and the self-financed B.Tech fee is INR 1,53,175 per year.

JMI is a Minority Institution under Article 30(1) of the Indian Constitution. It reserves 30% seats for Muslim minority candidates and 10% seats only for Muslim women in every program. The same reservation rule applies across all JMI courses.

Admission Update:

UG Programs: The application and entrance test stages have been completed. Result lists and selection lists are being released by JMI.
B.Tech: The application portal opens 10 days after JEE Main 2026 results. The first selection list has been planned by JMI, and final spot admissions continue through September 2026.
CUET-Based Programs: Students register through the NTA CUET portal and also complete the JMI application at @admission.jmi.ac.in. Counselling is expected after CUET results.

JMI does not follow the 10% EWS reservation used by non-minority central universities because it has Minority Educational Institution status under Article 30(1) of the Constitution.
Most UG and PG seats are filled through JMI entrance tests. CUET is used only for the programs notified by the university.
B.Tech seats are filled by JMI counselling on the basis of JEE Main rank. JoSAA does not allot seats for JMI.
BA LLB (5-year) admission is done through the JMI entrance exam. CLAT scores are not accepted for this program.
The application fee changes by program as given in the JMI prospectus. Students applying through national exams may also have to pay the exam authority fee.
Eligible Jamia school graduates and other notified internal categories can claim 5% internal preference.
JMI notifies separate admission rules for Jammu & Kashmir candidates.
A student can apply under only one reserved category at one time.

JMI UG Admission 2026

At the UG level, JMI uses more than one admission method. Many programs are filled through the university entrance test, while selected courses follow scores from JEE Main, NEET-UG, NATA, NCET, and CUET. The official prospectus gives the yearly schedule and the course-wise rules.

JMI UG Selection Process 2026

The UG selection method depends on the course selected by the student.

For JMI entrance-based programs, the university prepares merit lists from entrance test performance.
Students named in the merit list must finish document verification and admission steps within the given schedule.
JMI can issue more than one selection list or waiting list if seats remain vacant.
Reservation and internal preference are used only as per the reservation policy printed in the JMI prospectus.
For programs based on JEE Main, NEET-UG, CUET, NCET, or NATA, admission follows the process set for that program.

How to Apply for JMI UG Programs

Open the JMI Admission Portal and complete online registration.
Use a valid email address and mobile number to create the account.

JMI B.Tech Admission 2026

JMI fills B.Tech seats through JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 scores. The university does not hold a separate B.Tech entrance test. Eligible students must apply online on the JMI admission portal; after that, JMI prepares merit lists and runs its own counselling.

There are 10 B.Tech programs at JMI. These include five regular programs and five self-financed programs. The yearly fee is INR 19,525 for a regular B.Tech program and INR 1,53,175 for each self-financed B.Tech program.

JMI B.Tech Selection Process 2026

JMI B.Tech admission is fully based on JEE Main merit.

Students apply on the JMI Admission Portal with their JEE Main application details.
JMI prepares program-wise merit lists using JEE Main scores or ranks and the applicable reservation policy.
Shortlisted students are called for document verification and fee payment.
If seats are vacant, JMI may publish further selection lists or waiting lists and hold additional counselling rounds.

How to Apply for JMI B.Tech 2026?

Go to the JMI Admission Portal and register online.
Fill the application form with personal, academic, and JEE Main details.
Upload the required documents, photograph, and signature.
Pay the prescribed application fee online.

JMI PG Admission 2026

JMI PG admission is not the same for every program. Many PG courses use the JMI Entrance Examination, while selected programs consider CUET-PG, GATE, or another national-level entrance exam as written in the official prospectus. JMI PG Selection Process 2026

For JMI entrance-based PG programs, merit is prepared from the entrance test held by the university.

JMI Admission FAQs

Ques. Are CUET UG scores used for every JMI UG course?

Ans. No. JMI uses CUET UG scores only for 8 notified UG programs, mainly BA Hons language courses in Hindi, Urdu, Turkish, French, Spanish, and Korean, along with B.Sc Hons Applied Mathematics. Other UG courses need JMI's own entrance test. B.Tech requires JEE Main and B.Arch requires NATA.

Ques. Which entrance test is needed for JMI BA LLB?

Ans. JMI Faculty of Law does not use CLAT scores for BA LLB. Admission to the 5-year BA LLB (Hons) program is through JMI's own Common Entrance Test (CET), conducted on June 4, 2026. The program has 120 seats, divided equally between the general fee and self-financed fee categories.

Ques. How much reservation is given to Muslim minority students at JMI?

Ans. JMI is a Minority Institution under Article 30(1) of the Constitution. It keeps 30% of seats for Muslim minority candidates and another 10% of seats only for Muslim women in every program. Ques. What was the JMI B.Tech CSE closing rank?

Ans. In 2025, the General category Round 1 closing rank for CSE at JMI was 17,752. In Round 2, the closing rank went up to 42,668. Muslim minority category students were admitted at higher ranks. For 2026, the cutoff will depend on JEE Main 2026 scores and the number of applicants. JMI will publish the official cutoff on admission.jmi.ac.in with each selection list.

Ques. Can students waiting for final graduation results apply for JMI PG courses?

Ans. Yes. Students appearing in the final year of their bachelor's degree can apply for JMI PG admission 2026. Their admission remains provisional. They must submit the final marksheet showing at least 50% aggregate by the date given in the admission notice. If they do not meet the eligibility marks, the provisional admission is cancelled.

Ques. Is paid direct admission available at JMI?

Ans. No. Jamia Millia Islamia is a Central Government University. It does not offer a management quota, NRI quota, or direct paid admission. Seats are allotted through entrance test merit and the university reservation policy. No seat can be taken by paying a capitation fee.

Ques. Who can claim the internal Jamia school preference?

Ans. JMI reserves 5% of seats in most programs for students who studied in Jamia's own schools, from nursery to Class 12, or for wards of JMI employees. These students still have to take the required entrance test. Seats are given from the internal quota pool on merit within that category. Valid school or employment proof must be shown during document verification.

Ques. Which documents are checked during JMI admission verification?

Ans. Students must carry originals and self-attested copies of the Class 10 certificate, Class 12 marksheet and certificate, graduation marksheets for PG admission, JEE Main, CUET, or GATE scorecard where applicable, JMI entrance test admit card, category certificate for Muslim minority, SC/ST, PwD, J&K domicile, or Jamia internal category as applicable, recent passport photographs, and Aadhaar card. Delhi itself, you can go to himalayas, explore culture since delhi has acces to anywhere.
students from all states come here so we can interact with all.

What I didn’t like

infrastructure is old, lacks so many equipments
food is not good , outside the campus , places are not clean.

Remarks:

I chose this university since its in our capital city as well as the university got 3rd rank in nirf. We need to pass the exam that jamia conducts, no interrview for this course. but some courses does. some Bsc courses are through CUET . easy to pass the jamia exam, you just need to study the concepts in previous papers.

What I Liked

One thing i really like about here is the positive Vibe from almost everyone nd there is no fringe elements in College that can disrupt the Vibrant environment . And everyone is doin good in their field , A good healthy competition exist btw Batchmates

What I didn’t like

I dont like The college infrastructure it really need some renovation specially in Engg. Departments,
hostel canteens don't offer much mote varieties of items .

I always wanted a CS Branch nd from starting i heard about jamia has a has good Placement Cell nd even faculties are good some IItian too ,In my group everyone first priority was this college Bcs of multiple reason first placement Nd exposure . You have to appear in Mains to qualify for Btech exam nd if u want CS branch You should score around94 percentile in mains

What I Liked

The things which i like about the colleges would be the campus life , the diverse students and canteens the atmosphere of the campus is friendly i haven’t experiencend any sort of ragging till now and everyone get together easily there are many students from across the country. The faculty are top notched qualified but they are not too freindly The infrastructure of the college is from the old times which gives classy vibed and i totally love such sorts of building and infrastructure which gives some old vibes

What I didn’t like

The faculties are qualified but not freindly towards the students they just come teach and dont develop any bonding with the students which i dont personally like There happens to be some sort of clashes bw the management and students from time to time which is very bad as it gets on the news also as their are some sorts of students gangs which sort of rule the campus and generates fights The guards of the gates are also offensive snd not too polite while desling with the students these are some problems which i face

Remarks:

Jamia milia islamia is a central university which is ranked 3 in 2024 colleges list. It has a great degree value and is super duper cheep which is very good for the students who want to get best quality education in affordable fees . I got admission in this college by writing a 100 marks mcq exam for BPT course of around 1.25 hrs which had the cut off of 74 marks which is quite high the first list came after 2 months of exams there were no interviews in my course .

Jamia Law School Review

What I Liked

The faculty is top notch. The faculty members are highly qualified possessing doctoral degrees and relevant experience in the field. They are really easy to approach and helps you out with anything and everything.
The campus life is excellent. The students are from different diversities and background which brings different skillsets with them. Together it blends to bring the best out of you.

What I didn’t like

The infrastructure of the faculty could have been a Little bit better but works.
The curriculum is more of a theoretical nature. It would have been better if more emphasis would have been put towards practical based learning.

Remarks:

Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university and there is a very competitive test to get admission in the University. There are total 2 batches each consisting of 60 students which makes a total of 120 students. There is a test in which around 15,000 students appear to get admission in 120 seats. So it can be concluded that the admission process is quite tough. The reason for me to choose this college is because of its legacy and the opportunities that it provides. Being located in Delhi it provides access to the courts ranging from District courts to the Supreme Court and other exposures as well. The location of Jamia is a plus point as it provides with various exposures and opens doors to n number of opportunities.

life at jamia: the real truth

What I Liked

I life the faculty and the campus life . The faculty is amazing there are amazing teachers who approachable the teachers are a fine blend bw friendship Nd mentorship. With a blend of new age and older faculty we get to experience both .the young teachers understand our real life problems while the older teachers share their wisdom with us
The campus life at jmi is amazing there are often fests happening in various departments the lush green campus with various affordable canteens with in campus staitionaries and bank services makes it very accessible for us the sports complex is perfect for us to maintain our society spirits

What I didn’t like

I don't like quite like the infrastructure I feel like it could have been better or a renovation would be great accept this everything is great

Remarks:

Jamia is one of the best colleges in delhi for architecture and also the most affordable because usually architecture has very high fees and also additional expenditure for stationary is also there so it was the best for me as its also nearer to my home so it was the best option for me for the admissions we have to give nata and based in the cutoff we get admission usually there are 4 rounds and one spot round at the time of admissions and there are fair reservations at the college like every other college

An Engineering student perspective about JMI

Remarks:

I got selected in JMI through PMSSS and there are also other selection process are there such as JEE MAINS,Jmi entrance exam and other scholarship opportunities. The factor I like about my college is ROI. Think about it you are giving 64k to your college for you engineering compared to other clgs that are charging 2 lakh per annum and you can get an avg package of 5.5 lpa . So yaa that was like a good point and also there are some professors that are well qualified and in the top researchers list. The bad aspect of my college is lack of fests and other cultural activities.Also I will say that canteen food is also not so good especially for vegetarian people. No GD/PI is conducted for the admission.

Insides of Jamia

What I Liked

The sports Facilites are very good, university has indoor sports complex too.
The classes were good having projectors for interactive studies.
The faculties were very helpful and supportive.
Has a very good campus life and get opportunities to explore yourself

What I didn’t like

Some of the faculties does not support even if there is a genuine reason.
The Course curriculum is very tight so does not get enough time for the campus life at last years
There are lots of students form their groups and do non-permissible things.
The university charges very large amount of fine with giving priority to the reasons.

Remarks:

The main factors that made me choose Jamia Millia Islamia are, it's a central university, ranked 3rd in NIRF ranking this year, and has very highly qualified faculties. The good aspects of Jamia are that there no ragging policies, supportive seniors, motivating faculties most of them. The bad aspects are hectic and time-consuming official processes and non-cooperative HOD. To take admission in Jamia you should have cleared JEE MAINS and scored at least 92 percentiles and 75% in your class 12 or equivalent. There are no interview rounds.

Life in jamia millia islamia

What I Liked

The building are very beautiful and aesthetic to look at but the interior structure are not that good.
The campus life of Jamia is very beautiful. You get to met people from various different backgrounds.

What I didn’t like

Well some departments who are self financed they are well maintained where as the departments which are not self financed are in poor condition.
The food there is very unhygienic. People very likely get sick by eating it, though it tastes very good

Remarks:

When it came to jamia millia islamia there is no need to ask anyone about it because it is already all over the Internet about how good its structure and education is. I chose jamia because is one of the best college in Delhi
