IISc at a glance

What I Liked

The lack of a night curfew. We can come in and leave our hostels and even the campus as we please.
Active student bodies, cultural and regional groups.
Friendly professors with a good understanding of mental health.

What I didn’t like

The admins attitude towards mental health is problematic.
Time management is difficult in early semesters.

Placement Experience:

There is a placement cell but I personally do not have experience with it. But there are a lot of companies that come in. Notable examples include Airbus. Students are allowed to take three months internships with no question and longer ones with permission. Not sure what the stipend is since most maths people don't opt for this. Sadly I haven't taken any internships so I cannot comment on it.

Remarks:

Honestly, burnout from JEE. I had given KVPY in 11th. Then Covid led to me dropping out of JEE and taking this option that I already had. Sadly KVPY no longer exists and admission is only through IAT and JEE-Adv now.

What I Liked

Mess food is excellent and you will get fruits and badaam in breakfast
Campus location is in city, you will get all facilities outside the campus

What I didn’t like

Placement committee has serious issue while contacting with new companies, you will get placed because of IISc not because of placement committee
Faculties are experts in their domain but they don't teach well and in the end you have to learn from online resources

Placement Experience:

You will get a lot of placement opportunities on campus, big products based and startups are coming every year from October onwards with a median package of 22lpa for the CDS Department, and every other branch is eligible to sit in any company they want

Remarks:

In Data Science, IISc is the top institute in the entire India, for the selection process first it needs a good rank in Gate, then a written test consisting of coding questions and maths questions, followed by an interview
