Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is a central university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, set up by an Act of Parliament in 1996. The University Grants Commission (UGC) funds and recognises it. The university carries the name of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and focuses on higher education and research, especially for disadvantaged and marginalised communities.
BBAU ranked 37 in NIRF Universities 2025 with a score of 55.55. Its strongest 2025 NIRF positions include 12 in Law with a score of 65.26 and 23 in Pharmacy with a score of 62.29. The university also stood at 69 in NIRF Overall 2025 with a score of 52.71.
The main campus is in the Vidya Vihar area of Lucknow, on the banks of the Gomti river. It covers a green area of 25 acres and has 16 academic schools for engineering, management, law, pharmacy, social sciences, sciences, journalism and other fields.

The B.Tech course costs INR 4,40,000 for 4 years, which comes to INR 55,000 per semester. BBAU waives 100% of tuition fees for all SC/ST students from its own funds.
BBAU Admission Process
Admission at BBAU is mostly entrance-based. CUET is used for UG and PG courses, JEE Main is also accepted for B.Tech, GATE is accepted for M.Tech, and MBA admission can be based on CAT or CUET PG.
B.Tech (CSE, Civil, Electrical, ECE, Mechanical)
- Students need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The minimum aggregate is 50%, or 45% for SC/ST/PwBD students. Each branch has 60 seats.
- Admission is through CUET UG 2026 or JEE Main 2026. BBAU releases separate merit lists for both routes.
- Diploma holders can apply for B.Tech second-year lateral entry. It covers 3 semesters and has a fee of INR 3,30,000.
UG Non-Engineering (BBA, B.Com, BA, B.Sc, BBA LLB)
- Applicants must pass 10+2 from a recognised board with at least 50%, or 45% for SC/ST/PwBD students. Subject-wise stream rules differ by programme.
- Selection is through CUET UG 2026. BBAU does not hold a separate entrance test for these UG courses.
PG Programmes (MA / M.Sc / M.Com / MBA / M.Tech / M.Pharm / LLM)
- MA / M.Sc / M.Com require a relevant Bachelor’s degree with 50%, or 45% for SC/ST students, along with CUET PG 2026.
- MBA applicants need a Bachelor’s degree with 50%, or 45% for SC/ST students. Selection is through CUET PG 2026 or CAT score followed by university counselling.
- M.Tech needs a B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline with 55%, or 50% for SC/ST students. A GATE score is mandatory.
- M.Pharm admission needs B.Pharm with 55%, or 50% for SC/ST students, through CUET PG 2026 or GPAT score.
- LLM (1 Year) requires an LLB degree of either 3 years or 5 years with 50%, along with CUET PG 2026.
Ph.D Programmes
PhD admissions are expected from October to December 2026 (tentative). Students need a Master’s degree with 55%, or 50% for SC/ST/PwBD students. Admission is based on CUET PhD or BBAU’s own entrance test, followed by interviews in the concerned department.

BBAU Campus and Infrastructure
BBAU’s main campus stands in Vidya Vihar, Lucknow, beside the Gomti river. Course Curriculum Overview:
i chosse course a my gap year , this course is not may main course . i just doing it for taking a degree and not wasting a year . you will get well qualified professors . they teach practically as well as theory also . there will be presentation in each semester. exam will be according to academic calendar and exam were not too much difficult , there will old year paper ans pattern of paper will be same . so you can prepare one day beofre exam
Placement Experience:
our course is not for placement , you will get job in many library as per your degree , if you want grad a jobs you have complete PHD in library science . there is no campuss placement in this college for this course . most of student do mlis and UGN net after blis and some of them prepare for government like JNV and asst librarioan posts

Course Curriculum Overview:
Msc in Human Development and Family Studies has wide variety of opportunities. I opted this course because I wanted to be a Psychologist. That's why here I am. All Facilities are well qualified with min. qualification of Phd , NET qualified. Technical fields like Engineering has IITians and NITians as there Professors. Some Law faculties retired Judges of High Court, Ex-Lawyers (Practising) so students have good exposure of Practical World. Exams are always of Time. Each Semester has 3 exam i.e. 2 Mid Term of 10 - 10 marks and 1 End Term of 50 Marks. 20 Marks is for Practical, Assignment, Viva-voca and all. Difficulty of Exam is Moderate.
Placement Experience:
Placement and Internship is good here. Highest placement is of Engineering Department with highest package of 10 Lakh per annum and average is 4 lakh per annum. MBA has also good placement with 88% record placement in 2024.

Course Curriculum Overview:
i always wanted to explore the field of bioinformatics, and that's the reason i chose this university, but I have gained nothing from this college it feels like i have wasted two years of my life, there's no lab for bioinformatics no real-life practical problems are solved, as a masters in bioinformatics we are expected to be somewhat ready for the real world, but here we have gained nothing no programming skill no pipeline development it's just all just theory, and exams don't even challenge us to do things of our own we have got in a comfort zone of studying just the night before the exam and score good.
Remarks:
i gained admission through the CUET examination, and my primary motivation for selecting this college was the MSc course. (Bioinformatics ); as it is a Central university i have high expectation regarding facilities and outcomes. nevertheless, i have found the department to be disappointing.

Course Curriculum Overview:
Honestly, the department is only 2 years old so everything needs to be improved properly starting from syllabus, faculties and facilities. I chose this course because I had my graduation in the same field . the teachers here have completed their Ph.D. and the teaching method is okayish. It can be improved. The terms exams were done according to the university's scheduled date and the level of difficulty was moderate.
Placement Experience:
There is no campus placement for my course. I have to find my own way of employment and my plans after completing this degree is to get a job of research or project associate where i am elgibile. the package also differs starting from 25000-35000 per month excluding HRA depending on each lab's requirment.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I am currently doing B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from this college. At this time everyone's first preference is computer science or IT, if seen then electrical engineering comes in core branches, so my preference was this course, I have some interest in electrical field and electrical equipments . Our university's specially UIET department has good faculties and they give their 100% to the students. Semester exams and internal exams are also conducted according to their scheduled time.All the equipment of the labs are not present, due to which we also perform some experiments with the help of virtual lab.To take admission here you should have good marks in CUET and at least average in JEE
Placement Experience:
The placement conditions of the university are not very good.Job opportunities are very less, so if you are taking admission in this college for a good placement then your expectations are high . But you can get a good placement out campus or you can also go for your further studies. Very few numbers of companies visit our university. But in comparison to the past few years, these numbers are increasing and the number of companies is also increasing. Keeping this in mind, it can be expected that the number of students getting placement here may increase in the coming days.

Some faculty are great but some are worse than school teachers Maximum teachers are PhD qualified Course and curriculum are very old Semester exams are hard to pass questions are good at difficulty level

If you are thinking to pursue Btech from here don't expect any kind of placements Highest package was 6 lakhs and lowest you can't even think They write your name on banner if you crack any government exam The placement from ECE branch was in SBI Bank as they have written But the college is reputed if you are applying for off campus you will definitely get a placement You have to self apply for any internship because college is not going to help you

Course Curriculum Overview:
I choose mathematics course in BBAU because I am from mathematics background and I choose this college because well educated faculties in pure and applied mathematics. Method of teaching also very good and friendly nature of all faculties. Exam conducted semester wise and there is also four sessional exam which conducted before the end semester from four sessional two conduct before one end semester exam. Exam level not too hard. Every questions which ask in term exam from classroom discussion.
Remarks:
If we talk about the college there is so many master's courses available. There will be an exam conducted that is Cuet pg. Using cuet pg exam scorecard for admission. I choose this college because hostel facilities also available . If we talk abuot preparation for this exam every body prepared self not a very difficult exam. There will be limited syllabus any one can prepare not too difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I adopted for this course because the course and the curriculum were very interesting and practical for the real-world knowledge, once every 2 semesters there is also a field trip organized by the department . # All the faculties in the department are very qualified they all have an average teaching experiences of 5-10 years, and all are PHDs in their respective fields from various reputed universities. #In a semester there are 2 mid semester exams before the end semester exam. The mid semester exams are of 10 marks for each subject. Mid semesters are easy and are of 1 hour time limit. The syllabus for mid semesters is usually 1-2 units which is normally the syllabus covered in 2 months. The end semester exams are of 70 marks for each subject with a time limit of 3 hour. All the departmental exams are of moderate level you can easily score good grades. Each classroom is having a marker board along with projector, The department is having a museum which various specimens are placed.
Placement Experience:
University is quite behind in terms of placements and job opportunities as the only department where placements are seen so far is of b.tech. , MBA, etc. and that so was very low which was about 3-4 LPA, but university is slowly building its own placement cell, in future a better placement can be expected for now it is very low and minimum. As of my department is concerned there is no placement, as B.Sc. is not a professional course. My further plans are of preparing for a govt exam after my degree.
