IIT BHU PhD Eligibility

IIT BHU does not necessarily ask for a GATE or any other national exam scores, rather it depends upon the discipline of PhD program and your past academic performances. There are some general eligibility criteria for applying to IIT BHU PhD programs,

The general eligibility criteria for admission to PhD are,

• Bachelor & Master’s or equivalent degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine/Art or Humanities.
• Minimum 60% aggregate in the Masters degree.
• Candidates with a CPI of 8 or above during their graduation/Masters from premier institutions such as IITs, IISc, and IISERs, with a minimum CPI of 8.0 on a 10-point scale are exempted from the written exam. Still, they have to go through the Interview Process for admission.

IIT BHU PhD Selection Process

The detailed application process for PhD program at IIT BHU admission 2024-25 has been mentioned below,

STAGE 1

• Candidates who fall under the minimum eligibility criteria can apply for the PhD program on the official website of IIT BHU.
• Candidates must fill out all the details asked and pay the application fee as applicable.
• The details regarding their referee and publications must be provided by the candidate during the process of filling up the application form.

STAGE 2

• The shortlisting of the applicants will be based on their academic records, work experience, and scores in GATE/JRF, GPAT, or NET examination as applicable.
• The shortlisting is also based on the number of seats approved by the admission committee.

STAGE 3

• To prepare a merit list for selection, the department will conduct a written aptitude test for the shortlisted applicants. Only those who pass the written test will be interviewed. 
• The panels conducting the personal interview will evaluate the academic background of the applicant, his/her general academic proficiency, and academic & related publications.

STAGE 4

• A final merit list will be prepared by the admission committee, based on the overall performance and profile of the candidates.
• In case a candidate does not accept the offer by paying the prescribed fee by the specified date, the offer of admission will stand withdrawn, and the admission will be offered to the candidates on the waiting list, if any, in order of merit.
