IIT BHU BTech Admissions 2026

IIT BHU offers BTech in 16 specialisations. Computer Science and Engineering is the most preferred B.Tech specialisation. The institute has 1102 B.Tech seats, and admission is based on a valid JEE Advanced score followed by seven rounds of JoSAA Counselling.

IIT BHU B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have appeared for Class 12 or an equivalent exam for the first time in 2024 or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Ques. Which IIT BHU students get full or partial tuition fee relief?

Ans. Yes, some students do not have to pay the full tuition fee.

  • Students with family income < 5.00 and >1.00 lakh pay only 1/3 of the tuition fee, while 2/3 is exempted.
  • Students whose family income is < Rs. 1.00 lakhs are exempted from the tuition fee.

Ques. How does branch or discipline change work at IIT BHU?

Ans. IIT BHU follows these rules for discipline change:

  • Programme change is allowed on the basis of academic performance, but only if the UGD/IDD programmes of the concerned Departments/Schools have enough strength. It is a privilege and not a right. Change of programme can be permitted at the start of the 2nd semester and also at the start of the 3rd semester.
  • A student cannot change options after the last application date. The student may withdraw the application within the period announced by the office of the Dean (Academic Affairs). Once a new discipline is allotted, the student must join it and cannot withdraw.
  • Foreign Nationals sponsored by their Governments and/or the Government of India for specific courses cannot apply for a change of programme.
