Ashoka University Admission Dates 2027

Students joining the UG Class of 2027 in August 2027 can apply through any of four admission rounds. Applications are currently open. The first round ends on November 23, 2026. Applying in an earlier round provides an earlier decision and gives students more time to arrange scholarships and finances.

Ashoka University Courses and Fees

Students can choose from more than 29 UG majors and double-major combinations across science, social science, humanities and interdisciplinary study. Every undergraduate first completes a shared foundation curriculum before selecting a major. The General-category amounts below cover the full stated duration of each programme.

Tuition and related programme charges for the four-year UG course make up the stated INR 55.67 Lakhs. The first year costs INR 15.00 Lakhs, including orientation and onboarding charges. Each of Years 2, 3 and 4 costs INR 13.55 Lakhs. Hostel and mess expenses are assessed separately and do not form part of these figures. Eligible students may reduce their final payable amount through scholarships.

Ashoka University Admission Process

Admission differs by level, but each route reviews more than a single score. Applicants may need to submit academic information, written work, a research proposal or subject-specific test results before appearing for an interview.

UG Admissions, B.A. Hons. / B.Sc Hons.

The undergraduate selection system has several stages and considers the applicant's overall record. A standardised test score alone does not decide admission.

• Students from any recognised 10+2 board and any stream may apply. Ashoka does not publish a minimum percentage cutoff because selection is holistic.
• First, the applicant submits an online form containing academic records, essays and details of extracurricular activities.
• Next comes the On-the-Spot Essay (OSE), a timed writing task held at an Ashoka assessment centre.
• The final listed stage is a personal interview with admissions faculty.

SAT results are optional and may support an application. Applicants with strong results in JEE Main, the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), the CMI entrance examination or National Olympiads can qualify for Special Merit Scholarships that waive 100% of tuition. The Achievers Merit Scholarship considers students who have scored 98% or more in both Class X and Class XII. Round 1 applicants, whose deadline is November 23, 2026, receive the earliest decisions.

Young India Fellowship (YIF)

Fresh graduates and working professionals can pursue YIF as a one-year residential diploma in liberal arts. Applicants require a bachelor's degree in any field and at least two years of relevant experience. The selection process assesses a written application, an essay and a panel interview. A deliberately small cohort supports the programme's seminar format.

MA and M.Sc Admissions

Selection for MA Economics, MA English, M.Sc Artificial Intelligence and M.Sc Immunotechnology includes a test for the relevant subject and a later interview. Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in the relevant subject or a closely related field. MA Economics expects a strong base in mathematics. For M.Sc Artificial Intelligence, a B.Tech or B.Sc background in Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics is preferred.

PhD Admissions

Doctoral applications are accepted in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology/Sociology. A relevant master's degree and research statement are required. Departments also conduct their own qualifying tests and interviews. Full fellowship funding is provided to most PhD scholars.

Ashoka University Placements

Career outcomes at Ashoka include jobs in corporate organisations, consulting, BFSI, technology, development and media. Along with regular campus recruitment, the university tracks development-focused opportunities because many students enter public policy and social impact work or continue to higher education.

The latest reported corporate placement cycle produced a top offer of INR 35 LPA. Among four-year Ashoka Scholars, the average CTC reached INR 12 LPA and the median was INR 10.85 LPA. Third-year undergraduate students recorded an average of INR 10.86 LPA. The placement drives involved more than 250 companies.

Postgraduate education abroad is another common route after graduation, particularly in economics, public policy, computer science and natural sciences. Students secure graduate-school places at universities in the US, UK and Europe. Development-sector employers such as J-PAL, Teach for India and policy think tanks also form a separate recruitment path that reflects Ashoka's liberal arts focus.

Ashoka University Rankings

Although founded in 2014, Ashoka University appears in national and international rankings. NIRF lists it in the Indian Universities category, while QS includes it in both Asian and global university tables.

The university entered the QS Asia table at #396 and the QS global band within its first decade. Its international ranking record is supported by research and faculty publications, especially in economics, computer science and biology. Future NIRF data will cover more graduating batches as the university continues to grow.

Ashoka University Scholarships

Each UG batch can receive 500 scholarships across merit, merit-cum-need and need-only categories. Depending on the award and the student's financial position, assistance can cover the entire tuition fee.

Recipients of Special Merit and Achievers Merit awards may also receive an additional need-based amount. This top-up can remove the remaining financial barrier for a high-performing applicant. PhD scholars usually receive a full fellowship that covers fees and provides a monthly stipend. Separate scholarship support is available for YIF, MA and M.Sc students, with the amount varying between cohorts.

Ashoka University Campus and Infrastructure

The fully residential Ashoka campus is situated on NH-44 in Kundli, Sonepat, Haryana, 40 km from central Delhi. Its existing area is 25 acres, and the university announced a further 27-acre expansion in 2021. Students are expected to stay on campus, supporting the institution's seminar-based teaching model.

Research-grade laboratories are available in the Trivedi School of Biosciences, which opened in 2020. Seminar classes generally have 18 to 25 students, allowing closer contact between faculty and students. The campus also hosts the Trivedi Centre for Political Data, a major research project created with the University of Michigan.

Accommodation forms an important part of the cost of residential study. Hostel and mess fees are charged separately from tuition. Students can reach the campus by road from Delhi or use Kundli railway station on the Delhi-Panipat line.

Ashoka University vs O.P. Jindal Global University vs FLAME University

Ashoka University, O.P. Jindal Global University in Sonepat and FLAME University in Pune are private, multidisciplinary institutions. Each provides residential campus study, uses a holistic review of applicants and offers programmes that combine disciplines and develop critical thinking.

JGU has the higher NIRF and QS positions, with support from Jindal Global Law School, one of India's leading ranked law programmes. Ashoka is better known for research in science and economics, and its faculty publication output is comparable with that of older established universities. FLAME provides a smaller campus setting and is an option for students seeking liberal arts education in western India. All three assess applicants holistically rather than depending only on an examination, so school results and extracurricular records remain important.
