LHMC Admission Dates 2026

LHMC is using NEET UG 2026 for admission to its 2026-31 MBBS batch. MCC All India Quota counselling has reached the mop-up stage, while NEET PG 2026 counselling for MD/MS seats is also in progress.

LHMC Courses and Fees

LHMC offers medical courses at UG, PG, diploma, super-specialty, DNB, and nursing levels. MBBS admission is only for women candidates, while PG admissions through MCC PG counselling are open to candidates of all genders.

MD specialisations include Anatomy, Anaesthesiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, Microbiology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Physiology, Psychiatry, and Radiology. MS is available in ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics. PG Diploma options include Anaesthesia, Child Health, Dermatology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiodiagnosis, and Ophthalmology.

LHMC Admission Process

Admissions at LHMC are entrance-based. MBBS, MD/MS, DM/M.Ch, DNB, and B.Sc Nursing all follow the entrance exam and counselling route fixed for the course.

MBBS Admission

LHMC admits only women candidates to MBBS. Selection depends fully on NEET UG scores, and the college does not conduct a separate entrance test or interview.

• Eligibility: Women candidates must have 10+2 PCB with at least 50% marks and a valid NEET UG score
• Age: The candidate must be at least 17 years old on December 31 of the admission year
• Admission route: MCC AIQ counselling is used for 15% MBBS seats, while DGME Delhi counselling is used for 85% seats under the Delhi State Quota
• NEET UG 2025 closing rank for General Category under AIQ: 1,128

Delhi State Quota applicants need Delhi domicile. Their merit list is separate, and the closing rank is lower in competition than the AIQ closing rank.

MD/MS and PG Admission

For MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses, admission is handled through MCC PG AIQ counselling using NEET PG scores. LHMC has 160 PG seats in 27 disciplines. Candidates who have completed MBBS from an NMC-recognised institution can apply, and PG seats are open to all genders.

DM and M.Ch admissions are done through MCC SS counselling based on NEET SS scores. Applicants must hold the required MD or MS degree from a recognised institution.

B.Sc Nursing Admission

B.Sc Nursing admission is through the Central Nursing Entrance Test, with NEET UG as a prerequisite. The affiliated College of Nursing runs the programme for candidates who meet the 10+2 PCB eligibility rules.

LHMC Placements and Career Outcomes

LHMC is a government medical college, so it does not follow the usual campus placement model. After MBBS, graduates commonly choose NEET PG for higher medical studies, jobs in government hospitals, the Union Public Service Commission health services route, or private hospital roles. LHMC does not require a compulsory rural service bond after MBBS.

During the three-year MD/MS course, PG residents receive INR 1,10,500 per month. DM/M.Ch fellows receive INR 67,700 to 71,800 per month. MBBS interns get the standard government internship stipend during the one-year rotating internship.

LHMC alumni have gone on to work as ministers, senior government officers, and senior specialists at AIIMS and other national institutions. The WHO Collaborating Centre status of the Microbiology department also supports research links for faculty members and PG students.

LHMC Rankings

LHMC is listed in the NIRF Medical rankings and is counted among India’s long-running government medical colleges. Its Department of Microbiology is a WHO Collaborating Centre, a status linked with public health research work.

LHMC has received the A++ grade from NAAC. It does not take part in QS or THE rankings because those rankings are meant for full universities, not constituent medical colleges.

LHMC Scholarships

LHMC MBBS students can receive support through several government scholarship schemes. The options include the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme, NSP Post-Matric Scholarship for SC and ST students, and the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment decide the scholarship amounts and eligibility rules.

PG residents and super-specialty fellows already receive monthly stipends set by the government. They do not need to apply separately for scholarships to receive these stipends. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare fixes the stipend amounts.

LHMC Campus and Infrastructure

LHMC has a 68-acre campus in central New Delhi, close to Parliament House and the government quarters area. The campus includes the college building, SSKH, KSCH, a central library with more than 50,000 volumes, hostels for women students and residents, and sports grounds.

SSKH has 877 beds and provides tertiary care across major specialisations. KSCH has 350 paediatric beds and is among the largest children’s hospitals in north India. Together, these hospitals give students a high patient load for clinical learning.

LHMC has been running for more than 110 years, making it one of Asia’s oldest medical colleges for women. Its New Delhi location keeps it close to AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, and other national health institutions, which helps with research collaboration and postgraduate training.

LHMC vs MAMC vs UCMS Delhi

Students seeking government MBBS seats in Delhi often compare LHMC with Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS). All three are government medical colleges in Delhi, are affiliated with the University of Delhi, and admit students through NEET UG counselling.

Among these three colleges, LHMC is the only women-only government medical college and has the highest NAAC grade, A++. MAMC has a larger teaching hospital and usually has higher AIQ cutoff ranks. UCMS is co-educational and has a smaller MBBS intake of 150 seats. All three have similar government fee structures and PG admissions based on NEET PG.
