Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital (VMMC) is a central government medical college in New Delhi. MD is offered in more than 15 disciplines, such as Anaesthesiology, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, Forensic Medicine, General Medicine, Microbiology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radiodiagnosis, and Sports Medicine. VMMC Admission Process

Admission to VMMC is based only on entrance exams. The college does not offer direct admission or management quota seats. MCC conducts national-level counselling, and GGSIPU manages state-level counselling for the applicable seats.

MBBS Admission

VMMC follows two counselling routes for MBBS admission.

  • Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with at least 50% aggregate, or 45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates
  • Age: At least 17 years on or before 31 December of the admission year
  • Entrance exam: Valid NEET UG score
  • AIQ seats (15%): MCC NEET UG counselling
  • Delhi state quota and institutional quota (85%): GGSIPU counselling

For the General Category, the AIQ closing rank in 2025 was 68,655. The closing rank was 79,866 for OBC and 2,20,525 for SC candidates. Under GGSIPU counselling, Delhi state quota cutoffs are much lower in difficulty, with General Category admissions taking place in the 1,400 to 2,000 rank range.

MD / MS (Postgraduate) Admission

MD and MS admission at VMMC is handled fully through MCC NEET PG counselling. All MD and MS seats come under the 50% AIQ pool. Applicants need an NMC-recognised MBBS degree and a valid NEET PG score. The 2025 AIQ General Category closing rank for MD/MS was 41,451.

DM / MCh (Super-specialty) Admission

DM and MCh seats are filled through NEET SS and MCC counselling. Students must have the relevant MD or MS degree as specified by NMC. These courses have limited seats and strong competition.

B.Sc (Hons) Nursing Admission

B.Sc Nursing admission is through NEET UG score and GGSIPU counselling. Students must have completed 10+2 with PCB and cleared NEET UG. The yearly intake is 50 seats.

VMMC Campus and Infrastructure
