Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology is a public autonomous higher education institution offering specialized courses in the field of engineering and technology. IGIT offers UG, PG, and doctorate-level courses spread across 13 departments. The 4-year B.Tech course has 9 specializations while M. Tech has 17 specializations. Other courses provided at IGIT include a 5-year B.Arch, 2-year postgraduate courses in MCA and M.Sc, Ph.D. with 7 areas of study, and a diploma with 5 specializations. 

The admission process at IGIT starts with the application process which is done online and is finalized after the counseling process. For UG courses, candidates must have a valid rank in JEE main or OJEE. M.Tech admissions are offered on the basis of GATE scores and MCA is via CET or OJEE. In the case of an M.Sc, the admission is merit-based and Diploma aspirants have to qualify for the Diploma Entrance Test. For enrolling in doctorate programs there will be an entrance test followed by an interview. 

IGIT also harbours vocational education training (VET) under the banner of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Community development for Training Programs in construction, electronics & hardware, and plumbing. All the courses except the diploma are provided in affiliation with Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela while the latter is in accordance with State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training, Odisha.

IGIT Sarang B.Tech Admission 2024

At IGIT Sarang, B.Tech has 8 specializations namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Production Engineering, and Architecture and under the self-finance scheme, there is Electronics & Telecom Engineering and Computer Science Engineering.

B.Arch is a 5-year long full-time course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have completed 10+2 with physics and mathematics as mandatory subjects with at least 45% marks from a recognized board.

  • Final selection is made on the basis of marks/rank in JEE or OJEE followed by a counseling process.

IGIT Sarang M.Tech Admission 2024

The M.Tech program at IGIT Sarang offers 18 seats each in the 17 different specializations. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who have completed B.Tech or B.E with 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA on 10 point scale can apply.
  • A valid GATE Score is also necessary.

Selection Criteria

  • Candidates will be allocated seats via counseling.
  • The rank in GATE will determine admission and to confirm the seat students must complete a document submission and fee payment.

IGIT Sarang MCA Admission 2024

The MCA course is a full-time program spanning 2 years and offers 60 seats.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students who have a degree in BCA or an undergraduate degree in Computer Science Engineering are eligible to apply for MCA.
  • Candidates with a B.Sc./B.Com./B.A degree in Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation level and have completed additional bridge courses can also apply for MCA.
  • Candidates however must have scored 55% aggregate marks (50% for reserved categories) in UG.

  • Candidates must have a valid CET or OJEE score.
  • The admission will proceed in accordance with the counseling process.

IGIT Sarang M.Sc Admission 2023

This 2-year program offers specializations in Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, and Applied Mathematics.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with B.Sc or Honours can apply for an M.Sc course.
  • They must also score 55% in aggregate for the UG degree. There is a 5% relaxation for reserved categories. 

Selection Criteria

  • The admission for M.Sc will be conducted via counseling and on the basis of merit. 
  • The selected candidates will have to be present physically otherwise their admission will be canceled.

The diploma is a 3-year course and there are 5 specializations which are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

For applying for diploma courses, aspirants will have to have completed 10th from a recognized Board.

  • There will be a written test which will be followed by an interview as part of the selection process.

Ans. Yes, M.Tech with specializations in Civil Engineering in Environmental Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering in Industrial Power Control and Drives are part-time courses spanning 5 semesters i.e 2 and ½ years.

Ques. Should I go for EE at IGIT Sarang or IT at VSSUT Burla?

Ans. Both courses adhere to the same process for admission which is JEE followed by counseling. The difference is that there are more seats at IGIT Sarang for EE with 120 as opposed to 60 seats at VSSUT for IT. In terms of placement, IGIT Sarang is slightly better.
