KJSCE Important Dates 2027

KJSCE uses MHT-CET for Maharashtra state quota B.Tech seats and JEE Main for all-India quota seats. The next available schedule point for the 2027-28 admission cycle is MHT-CET 2027 registration.

KJSCE Courses and Fees

KJSCE offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral engineering programmes. Its academic options include B.Tech in 11 specialisations, M.Tech in 10 specialisations, Ph.D in 6 disciplines, lateral entry B.Tech, and an M.Tech + Ph.D dual-degree track. The fees listed below are for the full programme duration under the general DTE quota.

Along with the main B.Tech curriculum, KJSCE allows students to take Honours and Minors programmes. More than 30 minor subjects are offered through other schools of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, giving students a chance to study across fields. Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, and AI Ethics are among the newer minor tracks. Diploma holders can enter B.Tech laterally from the 6th semester onwards.

KJSCE Admission Process

B.Tech admission at KJSCE is done through the Maharashtra State CET Cell’s Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for DTE quota seats. Management quota seats follow a direct institutional process. MHT-CET is the main exam for Maharashtra domicile students, while JEE Main is accepted for the all-India quota.

B.Tech Admission

Students need 10+2 with at least 45% aggregate in PCM from a recognised board. Reserved-category students need 40%.

• NRI quota: SAT or equivalent scores

The broad B.Tech admission flow is:

1. Register for the relevant entrance exam or institutional route.
2. Appear for MHT-CET, JEE Main, CUET, PERA CET, SAT or the applicable test.
3. Take part in CAP counselling, all-India admission, management quota rounds or NRI admission, as applicable.
4. Complete seat allotment or institutional selection.
5. Pay the admission fee and submit documents for verification at KJSCE.
6. Join the programme after admission confirmation.

M.Tech and Ph.D Admission

For M.Tech, applicants need a B.E. or B.Tech degree in a relevant discipline with at least 50% aggregate. GATE is the preferred route for state-quota M.Tech seats. PERA CET PG and the institutional test are also accepted. Ph.D applicants need an M.Tech or M.E. degree with 55% aggregate, along with a valid score in the institutional research entrance test, UGC NET or GATE.

KJSCE also runs a Dual-Degree M.Tech + Ph.D track for strong applicants who want to continue into research after M.Tech. This option shortens the total study duration. Students need a GATE score above 600 or must qualify through the institutional test.

KJSCE Cutoffs

Computer Engineering and Information Technology are among the most competitive B.Tech choices at KJSCE in the Mumbai private engineering segment. In MHT-CET 2025, the general-category closing rank for Computer Engineering was 1,450, while Information Technology closed at 2,032.

KJSCE Placements

KJSCE placement data for 2025 shows a highest package of INR 51.72 LPA, an average package of INR 8.63 LPA, and a median package of INR 7.5 LPA. During the season, 237 companies made 360 offers. The Times of India 2026 ranking placed KJSCE at #1 in Maharashtra and #4 in India among engineering institutes for placement performance.

The CS and IT cluster draws the largest number of offers and the strongest salary packages at KJSCE. Electronics and Mechanical Engineering students usually receive roles in VLSI design, embedded systems and manufacturing, with package levels generally below the CS cluster.

IDFY, Barclays, ION Group, JPMC, Accenture, HDFC Bank, Google, and several VLSI and embedded systems firms have visited KJSCE for campus hiring. Its Mumbai location helps students access recruiters from BFSI, IT services, consulting and financial technology sectors.

KJSCE Rankings

KJSCE is listed in the 201-300 band in NIRF Engineering 2024 and has submitted data for NIRF 2025 and 2026. In India Today 2026, it holds the 17th rank among private engineering colleges in India, 4th in Maharashtra, and 2nd among Mumbai private engineering colleges. Education World 2026 ranks KJSCE as the #1 private engineering college in Maharashtra.

In NIRF Engineering, KJSCE has remained in the 201-300 band since 2022. In the 2021, 2020 and 2019 NIRF cycles, the institute was in the 171-200 range. Selected B.Tech programmes at KJSCE also have NBA accreditation, which gives programme-level recognition in addition to the university-level NAAC grade.

KJSCE Scholarships

KJSCE provides merit-based and need-based scholarships to enrolled students. At the time of admission, merit scholarships are based on MHT-CET or JEE Main performance. These scholarships can be renewed every year according to CGPA. Students with strong academic performance in the first year can also apply for institutional scholarships.

Students may also apply for government support such as the Maharashtra Government’s EBC (Economically Backward Classes) scheme, Central Government scholarships for SC, ST, OBC and EWS students through the NSP portal, and the Vidyalakshmi education loan programme. During the admission cycle, the KJSCE admission office helps students identify and apply for eligible government schemes.

KJSCE Campus and Infrastructure

KJSCE is located on a 50-acre campus in Vidyavihar, Mumbai, inside the Somaiya Vidyavihar University campus complex. The eastern Mumbai location is close to Vidyavihar railway station on the Central Line and is connected to Mumbai’s employment belt. The campus has purpose-built engineering laboratories, a central library, a sports ground and a medical centre.

The campus includes riidl (Research, Innovation, Incubation and Development Labs), the SVU-level incubation and innovation centre. It supports student-led startups, and KJSCE students regularly take part in riidl-funded projects and national hackathons. Under the Mega Projects scheme, student innovation teams work on competitions such as Formula Student, SAE Aero Design and national robotics events.

Hostel accommodation is provided on the Somaiya Vidyavihar University campus, with separate facilities for male and female students. KJSCE has not listed on-campus hostel fee data. Students should check the official SVU website for current hostel fees and availability.

KJSCE vs DJ Sanghvi vs TSEC Mumbai

Students looking for private engineering colleges in Mumbai often compare KJSCE with Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) and Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (TSEC). DJSCE and TSEC are established private colleges under the Mumbai University system.

KJSCE stands ahead of the three on placement ranking and research infrastructure. DJSCE and TSEC usually show slightly lower MHT-CET closing ranks for CS, so those seats are a little more competitive. All three colleges serve Mumbai private engineering aspirants, and the best choice depends on the student’s score and preferred branch.
