IIT Jodhpur Admission Dates 2027

The 2027-28 intake is expected to follow the regular NTA and JEE admission calendar. The schedule below is tentative.

IIT Jodhpur Courses and Fees

At the undergraduate level, IITJ has 8 B.Tech branches, 3 BS choices and integrated BS + BEd degrees. Its postgraduate portfolio covers MBA, M.Des, M.Tech, M.Sc, MS and Executive M.Tech, while doctoral study is available in every one of its 15 departments and schools. The institute has a total enrolment of 3,308 students.

IITJ was among the first IITs to establish a separate School of AI and Data Science. Its School of Design opened in 2023 and runs an M.Des specialisation in XR, or Extended Reality, Design that most other IITs do not offer. Working professionals can pursue the Executive M.Tech in AI and Data Science through a weekend-intensive schedule.

IIT Jodhpur Admission Process

Admission rules differ by programme. B.Tech, BS and BS + BEd applicants use the JEE Advanced and JoSAA route, while postgraduate selection is based on exams such as CAT, GATE, IIT JAM, UCEED or CEED. PhD applications are normally accepted for two intakes each year.

B.Tech and BS Programmes

Students must clear JEE Main before they can take JEE Advanced. IIT Jodhpur then allocates B.Tech and BS seats through JoSAA counselling. For General-category applicants in 2025, JEE Advanced closing ranks extended from 2,918 for CSE to 18,310 for other branches.

• Complete Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and at least 75% aggregate, or 65% for SC, ST and PwD applicants.
• Clear JEE Main and enter the group of the top 2.5 lakh students permitted to take JEE Advanced.
• Take JEE Advanced.
• Complete JoSAA registration and arrange the preferred branches in order.
• Receive a seat through the JoSAA allotment rounds.
• Report online, submit documents for verification and pay the required fee.

The integrated BS + BEd follows this same JEE Advanced process. It awards two degrees and is intended for students who want to teach science in schools.

MBA Programme

The School of Management and Entrepreneurship uses a valid CAT score to shortlist MBA applicants. The usual General-category shortlisting range is the 90 to 95 percentile. Shortlisted students attend a written ability test (WAT) and personal interview (PI) at IIT Jodhpur.

• Earn a bachelor's degree with at least 60% aggregate.
• Submit a valid CAT score from the current admission year.
• Attend the WAT and PI held on the IIT Jodhpur campus.
• Enter the final merit assessment, which considers the CAT score, PI result, academic record and work experience.

M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Des, and MS Programmes

A relevant GATE score is needed for M.Tech, while M.Sc selection uses IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling. M.Des applicants must hold a UCEED or CEED score. Eligible GATE-qualified M.Tech scholars generally receive a Ministry of Education stipend of INR 12,400 per month, which substantially reduces their net study cost.

• M.Tech applicants need a relevant undergraduate degree with 60% aggregate and a valid GATE score.
• M.Sc applicants require a relevant bachelor's degree and a valid IIT JAM score.
• M.Des applicants need a bachelor's degree in B.Des, B.Arch or B.Tech and a UCEED or CEED score.
• MS in AI selection is conducted through GATE or CSIR-UGC NET in a related discipline.

PhD Programmes

PhD admission takes place twice each year, with intakes in January and July or August. Engineering and science applicants commonly qualify through GATE or CSIR-UGC NET. Those holding an M.Tech or equivalent degree may be considered through direct interaction. National fellowships such as ICAR JRF, DBT JRF and equivalent awards are also accepted.

IIT Jodhpur Placements

The 2024-25 B.Tech batch achieved a 92% placement rate. NIRF 2025 data records an overall average package of INR 16.73 LPA, a median of INR 12 LPA and a highest domestic offer of INR 61 LPA. CSE students received an average of INR 21.26 LPA and a maximum of INR 56 LPA. The highest package for AI and Data Science reached INR 53 LPA.

For MBA placements in 2025, the highest package was INR 25.11 LPA, the average stood at INR 11.04 LPA and the median was INR 10.85 LPA. MBA recruiters represented IT consulting, analytics and operations management. Placement activities begin in August with pre-placement talks and internship conversions, followed by final recruitment drives through February and March.

Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Accenture, HCL Technologies, Deloitte, KPMG, Zomato and public-sector organisations in core engineering fields were confirmed recruiters during the 2023-25 seasons. Alongside campus recruitment, IITJ graduates continue their studies at IITs, IIMs and universities outside India.

IIT Jodhpur Rankings

IITJ appears in the Engineering, Overall and Management sections of NIRF. Its performance includes a place among India's top 30 engineering institutions, with an Engineering rank of 27 in 2025.

The 98th Management rank in 2025 applies to IIT Jodhpur's School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

IIT Jodhpur Campus and Infrastructure

IIT Jodhpur's 852-acre Karwar campus is planned as a self-contained township on a plateau overlooking the Thar Desert landscape. Jodhpur city is reachable in 30 to 35 minutes. Natural ventilation and solar orientation form part of its passive design, reducing energy use and bringing national recognition for sustainability.

Students have access to a central library with digital academic databases, advanced research laboratories, a startup incubation centre, a sports complex, a medical centre and a campus market. The grounds also contain faculty housing and separate hostel blocks for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students. Each hostel block has its own mess, and accommodation is assigned to every new undergraduate student.

The institute operates the iHub Drishti Foundation, a technology innovation hub funded by the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems. Its work focuses on computer vision and autonomous systems. The School of Design studio provides professional facilities for product prototyping and extended reality design. Covered walkways connect all campus buildings and reduce students' exposure to the intense Jodhpur summer.

IIT Jodhpur vs IIT Ropar vs IIT Mandi

IIT Jodhpur and IIT Ropar were founded in 2008, while IIT Mandi was established in 2009. These institutes belong to the same sixth-generation IIT group. Students with JEE Advanced AIRs from 2,500 to 20,000 often compare their branches and campus settings.

Among these three institutes, IIT Jodhpur has the best NIRF Engineering position and the widest course range, including MBA, M.Des and programmes through a separate AI school. IIT Ropar and IIT Mandi provide greener and more temperate surroundings than IITJ's desert-side campus, which may influence a student's choice. For applicants focused on CSE or AI, IITJ's lower JEE closing rank than IIT Ropar and IIT Mandi makes CSE admission slightly easier at IIT Jodhpur for the same JEE score.
