- Built in 1818, the college is a core of heritage. It has the most beautiful campus ever and surrounded by greenery, thus providing a very healthy campus life.
- The college library is quite large and provides an extensive range of books, thus making them accessible to the students.
Dislikes
- The college canteen is something which needs to be worked on. The food certainly does not match requiring standards.
- Our faculty is really impressive but classes are often not regular. Even though the needed help is usually provided, it would be better if classes were conducted regularly and the attendance was looked after.
Remarks :
Our admisision procedure is solely based on the 12th boards marks. I had scored 94.5% .(best of 4) They publish merit lists based on marks obtained and admissions are carried out accordingly. No such admission test is conducted.
Course Curriculum Overview :
As an ardent literature student, I have always wanted to pursue this all my life. Be it Virginia Woolf or translatory pieces of Rabindranath, stories have never failed to amaze me. I knew what I wanted, which quite led me into taking up this course. The faculty is extremely talented. They highly qualified, experienced, cooperative, who turned out to be of great help to students in finishing their curriculum. Exams and everything are decided by the University of Calcutta, to which the college is affiliated. They are mostly timely but run a little late in terms of the academic calendar. (15-25 days) The exams are moderately difficult and require needful preparations. Previous years question papers prove valuable for it.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, I have (India Lost and Found by Amit Pasricha). Even though the college helped me develop habits and grow skills, it did not directly play a role in getting me the internship. I got it through linkedin.
Placement Experience :
In our CBCS batch, we did not have enough internship opportunities. However, in the new CCF curriculum, mandatory internships are included in the curriculum. Our batch did have the opportunity to to attend a wide range of workshops and seminars that were regularly organized by the college. (Gender sensitization, review of culture and arts and so on)
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The yearly fees does not exceed Rs. 9000 per year for my course. Scholarships including Swami Vivekananda if one matches the criteria. The fees per semester is Rs. 4000-5000 including registration, library, and other fees. Fees for the other categories (B.Sc.) are slightly higher than ours because they include lab charges too.
Campus Life :
The annual fest of the college, Utsav, takes place towards the end of the year. Along with it, the Annual Academic Exhibition takes place during the same time, but happens once in two years. There are various college clubs - drama, music, photography, cinema, including the NSS. The college is quite known for its achievments in sports as well.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel accommodation is available only for the Department of Theology. So I rented a PG, in 7 minutes walking distance from the premises of the college.(panchanantala) It costed me Rs. 5000 per month.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

Placement Experience :
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
