- The infrastructure as I said, is top notch with good faculty and a beautiful campus life. According to NIRF, IPGMER is Ranked 21 nationally and 1st in the state. Being a Centre of Excellence in Medical Education and Research, it is looked upon as an Institution.
Dislikes
- The college is fantastic, nothing which we can complain about to be honest. But MBBS itself is a tough course so it requires dedication and hard work throughout. It can be exhausting at times and therefore we need to be balanced in our approach. Have hobbies and spend time with family and friends.
Remarks :
The college boasts a history of being the oldest general hospital in India established in 1707. Academics are strong with good professors and a distraction free environment. All the faculty rotates across the state. Infrastructure is truly impressive due to its excellent funding and facilities. The beautiful campus features gardens, a lake, view of Victoria Memorial and offers separate hostels with friendly seniors for boys and girls. Research is encouraged with opportunities for students to participate in programs like ICMR STS. It offers a peaceful environment and hosts a well-funded annual fest called CRUX. You will also find multiple canteens and a well-stocked library on campus. Topping it all off, the institute was recently designated as a Centre of Excellence for Medical Education and Research. Admissions are through NEET UG and the closing rank was around AIR 6500 (The year 2023) for General candidates of the West Bengal State quota.
Course Curriculum Overview :
MBBS is the most sought-after course in India and is known for its job security and respect. The faculty of this college is not fixed and they are transferred within the medical colleges of WB. They teach with the help of PowerPoint using projectors in theory classes and hands-on demonstrations in practical classes. There are final exams at the end of the year which are conducted simultaneously across all colleges of WB. Colleges also take internal exams periodically. Fees are very affordable (less than 1000 a month) and scholarships are awarded to financially weak individuals.
Internships Opportunities :
The last year of MBBS is the internship year where you will be doing duties in various departments month by month. You will asked to do basic things and it will be a great learning opportunity as you will spend time with patients.
Placement Experience :
There is an internship for one year after the Final year of MBBS in the same college. A stipend of about Rs 30,000 (as of 2024) is paid monthly during the internship. After completing MBBS, You can either pursue a higher degree (MD/MS) or practice as an MBBS.
Campus Life :
The campus of IPGMER is the best among all medical colleges of WB. The infrastructure is impressive with a green cover. There is an Air conditioned Library with an adequate number of desks to study comfortably. Classrooms are large, Air conditioned with projectors that run PowerPoint slides. There is a playground on which cricket, football, volleyball, etc. tournaments are held. There are separate hostels for boys and girls with clean rooms, drinking water supply, and several canteens that provide good food at affordable rates. The seniors are friendly and help us with our studies and other activities.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure

Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
