- The college faculty, lemme tell you. You are not getting something like this easily in india, I can count on my fingers and will still have some of the fingers left who have this level of faculty, this faculty right here is something you can't even find in IITs this is worldclass research faculty, it's called THE RESEARCH COMPLEX(TRC for short), you will never complain about either the faculty or facilities, this no doubt is the heaven for a research aspirant
- One thing I love about the campus life is the amount of freedom you get, this campus is going to be your home for the next 5 years, you will make connections and you will feel connected too, the IISER kolkata campus is very empty, filled with greenery and some lakes, you can stroll around this campus in the morning or even at midnight, you have complete freedom in the campus and you won't be restrained by a time barrier except the opposite gender visit
Dislikes
- The college infrastructure beside the auditorium and the research complex is quite basic, the library is nice but for sports ground we don't have a very great infra, I mean it is better than many and I mean many even some low leveled IITs but it still not feeling enough for a premium institute like IISER KOLKATA
- Campus life is good but still you will quickly realised the importance of not being in the city, you can't get everything in the campus afterall, being away from the main city by about 60 km really hurts, travelling just one way alone takes about 1 and a half hour, that's 3 hour of one trip from the city so yeah that's one of the thing I dislike that why is the campus so far from the city if it is named on that city like really IISER KOLKATA is 60 km from Kolkata 😭
Remarks :
I got to know about it through my father who is also in academia, I applied for IAT and cleared it, the exam is not that tricky but conceptual, the professors here are world class, but it's upto you how you utilise it( i didn't properly) the cut-off is if I remember is around 130+/180 for general to come to this IISER(i.e IISER kolkata)
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course is what you will expect it to be, if you are interested in research, this course is for you, these are really the IITs of research but you will have to be very dedicated as it do requires passion, anyways the faculty are world class, which you can only find in few colleges beside ours in india, there is also a scholarship by MHRD known as INSPIRE but you have to be a fresher and atleast 95%+ in your 12th board to get the scholarship or you can get it through jee advanced ranking too
Internships Opportunities :
I haven't opted for an internship till now but I know a lot who did opted for internship and they didn't had to struggle a lot, it was a fairly easy for them, and even you will be able to get it with little to no struggle if you have a good reputation with the professors and have maintained a cgpa of more than 7.5
Placement Experience :
We have an increase in placement from pharmaceutical company and even companies like Bharat petroleum, but the student are not too focused on placement but rather experience, so the internship opportunities are many, the college have great relationship with many top level uni inside and outside of the country, I am talking about Harvard level university, IISER kolkata have a great reputation and you will get plenty of experience for internships, placement are also increasing year by year, thanks to the placement cell working hard.
Campus Life :
See the hostel is mandatory for all BS-MS students, so you can't opt for a pg or rent a room if you want to, the campus is situated very outside the main city(kolkata) so you will get most of your things withing the campus, be it a hair dryer or some pizza, the mess food is comparatively good from other colleges, the annual fest here is INQUISTA, it's not as extravagant but it is a college fest, the sports club and cultural clubs are very active here, if you are interested in sports or music or dance, just try it out, don't think that in a research institute there will be no allowance of sports rather I must say student play sports more than studying here lol, hostel is very affordable approx 5000 for the whole semester, that's a govt. College for you, we have a website for college developed by our alumnis and now run by the college that is welearn IISER kolkata, there is even opposite gender visit allowed.

Faculties are well qualified but there is lack of experience teacher as most of the teacher are from local area and the college does not try to bring talent across different region of India. Also college does not have standard process of selection.
My experience at Shri Shikshayatan College
Placement Experience :
We have campus placements in our college. Some of the most famous companies which visit every year is TCS and Cognizant. The salary is very average around 1.5-2 LPA for freshers. You have to maintain a very decent profile with 0 active backlogs to get a job directly via our college placement. There are around 50-100 students who get places every year from our batch via campus placement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose bcom hons because i was a commerce student in school. The course is well taught in our college. The syllabus is same for all the calcutta university students. The faculty is knowledgeable and well trained. All the teachers are friendly and teach us thoroughly. The classes are held regularly and on time. We had exams every 6 months. Let’s say 1st semester exam will be held after 4-5 months of joining. We had to give internal exams of 20 marks after 4 months of classes which was followed by external examination of 80 marks (nearly 1 month after that). The difficulty level is somewhere around 9/10 for other subjects and 10/10 for accounting and Tax.
Affordable Government Pharmacy Education with Strong Academics but Limited Industry Exposure
Placement Experience :
Placements at the Institute of Pharmacy Jalpaiguri are not good because their is no in campus placement. Most students pursue higher studies or find jobs off-campus.The average package ranges from ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package can go up to around ?4–5 LPA depending on the company and role. Many students prefer higher studies such as M.Pharm, MBA, or preparation for competitive exams to improve career prospects. After completing my degree, I plan to either pursue higher studies or gain industry experience to build a strong career in the pharmaceutical sector.
My honest opinion on P. G. INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
Placement Experience :
The placement and internship cell of the college was really bad though. They did give us internship in different hospitals which were unpaid and the offered jobs were for experienced people, not for inexperienced or freshers. Only this side of the college was lacking. Otherwise, good. I had an job opportunity from this college which offered me 10000 a month.
ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY REVIEW
Placement Experience :
There is a good opportunity of placements in AOT as it is a very renowned college for a long time. The previous years placement are ~200%, ~150%, ~90% and for this year too it will be good. The college prepares the students properly for placements through trainings.

For computer science student theyare not providing any type of placement in campus but in other department student have any placement opportunity in our collage in every year visit from TCS, APPLO, and many big and small companies

Xavier law school is still in its nascent stage and hence due to this reason only two batches have graduated as of now. the highest package was not that good, and it was average rather and all the students were also not placed. many opted for litigation and higher study.

Placement Experience :
College don't provides any placement. But this college is little bit famous of our locality areas. If you need job the degree from this college will be valuable. This a downside of our college. I don't think we will face problem for the college degree.
