- Location: The best thing in IIT MANDI is obviously the beauty of the campus. It's location is 1 hr from the main mandi city but I think there is no problem in it. IIT MANDI is far from any city chaos. It is such a peace full and beautiful place that it seems like an tourist place. You can go on any mountain for trekking(It's too much fun). There are small small waterfalls everywhere in the rainy season. Overall if you like these kinds of places, IIT MANDI is the best.
- Labs: There are many good labs also in the IIT MANDI. IIT MANDI is also building a quantum computer and we also have the Param Super computer and other modern labs. Being a IIT MANDI student it feels good when people admire these things of the IIT MANDI.
Dislikes
- Administration: Personally I didn't liked the Administration here. The Administration hardly listens to the students problem. The rules are applied to strictly like you are not allowed to make even the little noise in the hostels in the night. If once a fine and Disciplinary action is imposed on you ( which can be imposed even on the small things). And many things.The attendance policy of 80% had been also implemented from the past year and If you fail in getting 80% attendance you may get FS and administration does not provide relaxation in it. Almost no student admire the administration and I can also say you also will not like it.
- Funding: In recent times IIT MANDI is getting to low budget and due to it you will see the fests are not so grand, the prize for the events are also too low and whenever there is something which is required in the hostel ...... the college always have one thing to say "Currently there are no funds available". Even the sports items if once got damaged it too difficult to get the new ones.
Remarks :
Factors made me to choose IIT MANDI When choosing between the different colleges I was always amazed by the beauty of the campus which is surrounded by the majestic himalayan mountains. It seems like a tourist place which you will always admire. I talked to some of the existing students of the IIT MANDI at that time and they told me that IIT MANDI is growing and growing{Now I don't know if it true or not :( } and so the placements also. Placements of the previous batch was too good. And also find many positive news about IIT MANDI. Frankly Speaking this was the biggest reason to choose IIT MANDI is because I was getting CSE here. I
Course Curriculum Overview :
Many courses offered in the 1st year(I mostly know about 1st year only) here are unique which you will not find in other IIT's (atleast till when I am writing) for eg. FDP(You will be given basic idea of the Desgin and Practicum and will be asked to make a robot based on the problem statement), IKS courses and Data Science course. I will say in the matter of the courses IIT MANDI have many good courses. The first semester in IIT MANDI is very light I will say. You will have less courses and you can do many things beyond the academics. The second semester is a hectic semester. You will be having too many courses in this semester and very less time to focus on the other areas. Actually in this semester you will be having too many courses to compensate the 1st sem. Faculty is also good but from the last year itself many good professors which students admire had left the institute.Also the faculty apartments will be just along with your hostels.
Campus Life :
Talking about the fests, there are three major fests in IIT MANDI namely Rann-Neeti(Sports Fest around october),Xpecto(Tech Fest) and Exodia(Cultural Fest). Hostels in the IIT MANDI are not so big(like other IIT's).One hostel has the average capacity of 120 students only.Facilities in hostels are -> WiFi, Water(no hot water in winters),Sports equipments(like volley, basketball,badminton rackets),A LED and Table Tennis in the Common Room of every Hostel. In rooms there is one bed, one study table and one cupboard for one person. No cooler or AC is there(That is not required also). Mess here are average type(like mostly IIT's) but better than the KOTA ones.There are till no hostel integrated mess. Library is good having discussion rooms, group meeting rooms, conference rooms, no noise rooms. The books here are good but less in quantity.You will not find the desired book at the time of the exams(It will be already issued by other studens, lol :) )

placement are good many cse students have package in crores i think cse nad ece branch is good but other branch package is around 10 lakh if i would suggest students i suggest go for cse or ece branch because in the era of artificial intelligence nad machine learning these two branches are booming and the package are also best in these branches you can also try for gate exam after the civil mechanical or electrical you can get jib in public plus private jobs

The placement opportunities are given by institute. There is a placement committee. A few visited recruiters are ICICI,HDFC, DE Shaw, Deloitte, EY, etc. the average package of IIM sirmaur ranges around 14-15 LPA. All students get placed and is supported by institute.
