Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, popularly called PGIMER or PGI, is a medical institute in Chandigarh. It started in 1962 and is recognized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as a Center of Excellence. PGIMER offers UG, PG, doctoral and super specialty courses such as B.Sc. Nursing, MD/MS, DM/M.Ch and Ph.D.
PGIMER Chandigarh is counted among India's leading medical institutes after AIIMS Delhi. The institute does not offer MBBS, but it is well known for postgraduate medical education, advanced clinical training, research and patient care.

PGIMER Chandigarh opens admission twice a year, once in January and again in July. For PG and super specialty courses, students need INI CET and INI-SS scores, followed by counseling. For other courses, the institute conducts its own entrance exam, and some courses also need a personal interview.

Ques. How hard is it to get a PG medical seat at PGIMER Chandigarh?
Ans. Admission to PGIMER PG courses such as MD and MS is highly competitive because seats are allotted through INI-CET rank. For top branches such as Radiodiagnosis, the closing rank can be as low as 13 for the General category. In many MD branches, ranks may range from 2 to 10,800, based on the branch and counseling round. For OBC, SC and ST candidates, closing ranks can go beyond 20,000. Students usually need more than the 50th percentile in the General category or the 45th percentile in reserved categories to get a seat, so the exam needs serious preparation.

Course is very good..and faculty is so nice. There is a semester system. The semester starts from September as a first semester and have exams in the month of February including internals and externals
Internship is provided for the students who have done the course from here only, no outsider are allowed to join the internship here, I'll go abroad after doing this degree bcz pgimer holds a good rank in Asia
Read Full ReviewThe course curriculum is 4 years with 6 months of internship, I chose the course because I had a very keen interest in sports and sports physiotherapy, the anatomy department is the best so far with many experienced and talented faculty of doctors, senior residents, junior residents, and professors. No extra fee hike policy is given to the students the fee of the curriculum is very low, which can be afforded by anyone.
Placements are not a part of the curriculum of the campus, the campus provides a very great internship opportunity to the students, which helps them excel in the clinical field and dealing with patients. The only drawback is the stipend provided to the interns, 500 very low rupees, concerning the duties assigned.

Institute doesn't provide any placements but the physiotherapy is a lifestyle based profession. so, it have high scope in upcoming years. However, one can pursue masters after the graduation for more opportunities

The Qualification of the faculty teaching to us is to be a Doctor. The teaching method is very simple, which means clearing our doubts only by means of concept, not any trick. There are two semesters in each year and the examinations held are completely the same as those of MBBS students and the time provided is also the same, the difficulty level is not so tough, it is of moderate level.
The eligibility criteria for placement in our course is only the BSc degree. Every year many vacancies for our course graduates are out there is very high demand for this. My plan after completing this course is about masters in Operation theatre technology.
Read Full ReviewThe course follows a modern curriculum i.e. semester system. The reason why chose this course was that PGI provides wide areas for experience and a great variety of fields to work on. Also, there are 6 months of internship included in the course. Qualification of the faculty is MPT or Ph.D. The teaching methods are not very good as there is no such dedicated faculty in the institute. Exams are conducted every 6 months and difficulty level is medium. The cost to study is around 3000/- per year which includes 500/- as semester fees and 1000/- as examination fees. There is no such scholarship or financial assistance provided by the institute.
The campus does not provide any placements. Job opportunities after graduation are in AIIMS Delhi, any private hospitals, or personal clinics. After completion of BPT, one can continue further studying in physiotherapy as MPT or he or she can drop the idea of physiotherapy and join other fields such as public health, pharmacology, or anatomy. For MPT various colleges are there such as SV NIRTAR, GNDU, PGI ROHTAK, etc
Read Full ReviewFor curriculum, Model curriculum by MoH&FW is followed. Bpt is a four year course along with 6 months of internship. Semester system is followed and 2 exams are conducted in a year at the end of each semester in august and February.There is no scholarship offered but the fees is reasonable. Physiotherapy department does not have any teaching faculty although the institution offers a good opportunity for clinical practice . There is no fees hike policy , cost of study is moderate
PGIMER Chandigarh is a reputed institution and is the 2nd best institution in the country which made me choose it. An all India level entrance examination is conducted for admission to the paramedical courses . It was a CBT comprising of physics chemistry biology sections along with English and GK.

After the Completion of the Course we worked in different Government as well as Private Sectors as Optometrist cause we dealt with patients who have REFRACTIVE ERRORS and tried to get rid of error without any kind of medicinal We use Specks and contact Lenses for this

Placement and job opportunities are very high after my course in optometry ,various companies like alcon,ziess ,topcon and brush and laumb comes to hires the student after course ,average salary is 30000 per month, minimum 60% in degree to get placement
Read Full ReviewI got the course by chance . Qualification is quite good of faculty like PhD masters in different fields. There are two semesters held once in year after 6 months. Difficulty level is moderate. There is negligible fees hike and cost of study is quite low .
There are no placements provided officially by the college. No recruiters and offers. No package is provided. No percentage is required as there are no placements. There are no plans yet . I can do mastes also.
Read Full ReviewWe had choices to choose different courses. The most of the faculty is either masters or phd holders or bacholrates. Exams occurs every 6 months marking the end of each semester. The fee is 1000 per sem exams and 500 for supplemental exams. The thing is teaching is not good here.
Ours is the third batch of optometry and our course is four years long therefore I don't know that much about placements but one post was released for optometrist here where three people were selected and that too via entrance examination .
