IIIT Bhubaneswar uses entrance exam results for admission at every academic level. Established by the Odisha Government as a state government IIIT, the institute admits B.Tech students through JEE Main and M.Tech students mainly through GATE and CCMT.
The four-year B.Tech programme has a total tuition fee of INR 8,36,000 and a total programme fee of INR 9,96,000. The complete two-year M.Tech programme costs INR 4,25,000, excluding hostel charges.

The Odisha State Quota has 113 seats in CSE and 38 seats each in ETC, EEE, and IT. An equal share of seats belongs to the All India Quota and is allotted through JoSAA and CSAB.

Doctoral study is available in engineering, science, mathematics, and management fields. Applicants may qualify through GATE or UGC-NET, while those without either score must take the institute's written test.

Only the JEE mains(engineering entrance exam) scores are accepted, and on this basis the seat is allotted. Half of the seats are reserved for odisha category students and half is open for all india category. Josaa cutoffs is higher than state category. For example the general cutoff for all india was 26k and state cutoff was 40k in 2024. College is bit smaller (32 acres total but 23 acre usable), faculties are good, especially the lab ones. Infrastructure is still poor compared to other government institutions. Seniors are bit supportive.

Read Full ReviewAdmission to this college is purely merit based, Councilling round like JOSAA and CSAB and also there is 50% quota for Odisha state category students. CSE general category cutoff goes generally upto 40k in CSAB and 50,000 for IT and Computer Engineering branch in CSAB.
