SCIS graduates mostly receive offers in technology and data analytics roles such as machine learning, software engineering, and data science. MBA placements include consulting, banking, healthcare management, and analytics roles. The Gachibowli campus is close to Hyderabad’s IT and pharmaceutical industry corridor, which helps bring recruiters from technology, pharma, and financial services companies.
Top Recruiters (2024-25): Amazon, Deloitte, IBM, Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Oracle, Intel, Teradata, ServiceNow, ICICI Bank, Flipkart, Novartis, Lloyds, and Wipro.
Many PhD graduates and integrated programme students choose higher studies, postdoctoral roles, or jobs in national research institutions such as CSIR, DRDO, DST, DBT, and ICMR instead of campus corporate placements. The placement figures mainly reflect MBA, MTech, MCA, and final-year integrated programme students.
UOH appears in the NIRF rankings under Overall, University, Research Institutions, and Engineering. In NIRF 2025, it was placed among the top 20 universities in India.
| Ranking Body | Category | Rank | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| NIRF | Overall | 26 | 2025 |
| NIRF | University | 18 | 2025 |
| NIRF | Research Institutions | 32 | 2025 |
| NIRF | Engineering | 74 | 2025 |
The 18th rank in the University category places UOH among India’s leading central universities. Its 32nd rank in Research Institutions shows its active research work across science, humanities, and social science schools, supported by PhD scholars funded through UGC, DST, DBT, and SERB grants.
UOH has stayed within the top 20 in the NIRF University category in recent cycles. This places it in the same broad group as Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and other large research universities. Its 74th rank in Engineering reflects the newer School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (SEST). The university’s strongest positions remain in the University and Research Institutions categories.
UOH students can apply for scholarships and fellowships offered through national schemes and university-level support.
UGC Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
PhD scholars who qualify UGC-NET with JRF receive INR 37,000 per month during the first two years and INR 42,000 per month from the third year onwards. The fellowship is funded by the UGC. CSIR-JRF holders in science and technology PhD programmes receive equivalent fellowships. These fellowships support living and research costs for scholars staying on campus.
National Scholarship Portal Scholarships
SC, ST, and OBC students studying at UOH can apply for Post-Matric Scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal, scholarships.gov.in. These scholarships cover tuition fees and provide a maintenance allowance. Fresh applications usually open in August and September each year for the new academic session.
Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme
Children of ex-servicemen and central paramilitary personnel can apply for the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme through the Kendriya Sainik Board portal. Eligible UOH students receive tuition fee support and a monthly stipend under this scheme.
Merit-cum-Means Scholarships
UOH gives a limited number of merit-cum-means scholarships from its institutional funds. These are meant for students with strong academic records and weaker family income backgrounds. Awards depend on qualifying exam marks and family income documents and are usually paid during the first year of enrolment.
Project Fellowships
PhD scholars working on externally funded research projects from DST, DBT, ICMR, or SERB receive project-specific fellowships through their schools. These fellowships are separate from UGC or CSIR fellowships and do not require NET qualification as a precondition.
The University of Hyderabad has a 2,300-acre campus in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It is one of India’s largest residential university campuses. Academic schools, hostels, the central library, markets, health care, banking, and sports facilities are all located inside the campus boundary.

Hostels: UOH is fully residential, and all admitted students get hostel accommodation on campus. Separate hostels are available for men and women in different residential blocks. Every hostel has a mess and common areas. PhD scholars get priority for single-room or twin-sharing rooms and are expected to live on campus during the programme.
Sports and Recreation: The campus includes a swimming pool, athletic track, football and cricket grounds, tennis and badminton courts, and indoor sports spaces. Annual inter-school sports events and the Elan cultural festival are major student activities. Clubs are available for robotics, debating, drama, music, and environmental studies.
Health Care: A campus health centre provides outpatient consultation, emergency care, and referrals to specialist hospitals in Gachibowli. Students are covered under the university health scheme.
Location and Connectivity: The Gachibowli campus is close to Hyderabad’s main IT and pharmaceutical industry cluster. Companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Deloitte, Novartis, and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories operate in the nearby area. TSRTC buses and Hyderabad Metro connectivity link the campus with the city centre, railway stations, and the international airport.
Students looking at UOH often compare it with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. All three are central universities with strong programmes in humanities, sciences, and social sciences. The better choice depends on the course, research interests, and career plans of the student.

JNU is stronger for humanities, social sciences, and international studies. It is a common choice for students interested in civil services, policy research, and academic careers. BHU has the widest range among the three because it also covers law, medicine, and engineering through its institutes, including IIT BHU. UOH stands out for its Gachibowli location in a major technology and pharmaceutical hub, which gives SMS and SCIS students access to a strong recruiter base. Students who want research exposure along with placement options in IT, analytics, or healthcare may find UOH’s location useful.

First of all it's an 'Institute of Eminence' with A+ rating, and it's considered one of the best in the country. The faculties are good and well qualified. Some departments like Political science and Sociology are excellent but the School of Economics is mediocre at best. Most of the professors struggle with teaching, some just share notes and PDFs. I feel cheated by all those fancy credit and ratings.
The placements are pathetic in this university. The placement cell itself is a completely independent students initiative, there is no role of the university. Out of 130 students, hardly 20 people will get placed. The recruiters are local startups and small companies. The average package would be around 3 to 4 lpa.
Read Full ReviewThere is almost 6 subjects On average in every semester two of them are major because they were core subject of their respective branches. and you can choose one language which is compulsory and As per NEP we have GEC which is out of box for the given semester circullum.Circulum is very good there are some social courses like gender studies and IT courses which include python which are university of Hyderabad mandatory courses. And the faculty here was also too great as they were all proffesors from prestigious universities and some of them were also from IITS.
It provide Very good placements in the University. For Mtech we can have MNCs and for Social sciences department It mostly from Hyderabad companies and most of them were startups. But the placements for medical students was too good. the ratio for placements were around 6:10 and The required cgpa for Placement was subjective to the companies requirement. The highest is around 50LPA AND and average is around 4.5LPA
Read Full ReviewMy course is IMA ECONOMICS which is an integrated course it is one of the highly rated course in this university where you can get highly qualified professionals to guide you they will also give personal attention if you have any queries in subject. You can experience a friendly relationship between student and teacher majorly but also there few teachers which you can find difficult especially in their slang it is quite difficult to understand but if you concentrate you can understand it. There will be three internals each will be for 20 marks where best 2 will be considered and the end semester exam will be held for 60 marks. Generally there will be internal once in a month or for 25 days depending on the faculty.
As far as I know you will have good placement percentage but don't expect package like 20LPA for everyone but yes if you are well talented you can surely get placement as many companies will come for placements and the eligibility criteria depends upon the company some companies have min CGPA but some consider interview irrespective of your CGPA As I'm still in 2nd semester this much only I can provide information about this section.

Program divided into 4 semesters 4 courses in one semester Audit Courses can be done and two interdisciplinary foundation courses are must to attain the certificate. Professors are well qualified and are specialized in various fields in Economics. Three Internals for a course, Best of two will be picked Internals:End Semester :: 40:60 Difficulty level of exams will be mediocre
University Placement Cell will look after the placements School Level Placement Cells will be in coordination with the central cell. Considering School of Economics, 20 students have got placed out of the students who seek for placement Companies like Berkadia, Banking agencies like Federal Bank and various education institutions have come for recruitment. As of now, I am preparing for my PhD Entrance Exam and exams like RBI Grade B DEPR and UPSC IES Exam
Read Full ReviewI got this college as I filled this option in jossa councelling, and I like to take admission in uoh as the professors are really good and the courses offered are also very good compared to other colleges. In a semester there is one end sem exam which are usually happend at the end of the semester, and middle of the semester there are minor exams which was conducted by there respective professors. Usually in all courses there where 3 minors conducted 20 marks each out of which best of two was taken and the end sem was of 60 marks for each course.
Placements are average for my course, some of the companies which are visiting for placements are Marvell, Intel, GE. Average package for intern is around 6lpa and for full time around 18lpa. Highest package which was offered last year is around 24lpa for Mtech course student. My plan after getting the degree is mostly working in the IT sector.

Read Full ReviewAll the faculty are highly qualified in their respective domain, particularly in my department of history the curriculum is very informative and interesting for students, some difficulties we are facing when my professors on leave.
Actually the placement facility available in few departments such as management studies and economics . Other students are studying here for their further studies after completion of post graduation students aspire for research studies. From my department some students got placement not like economics department.
Read Full ReviewI choosed this course because of my interest in Economics. Course curriculum is well designed and have applications based aspects. Professors are well qualified and helpful. Internal evaluations of 40% marks are connected 3 to 4 times in a semester and then one end semester examination of 60% marks.
In Economics department there are less placements. But for other departments the placements are great. Last time the highest package was taken by English department for content writing. IMtech also have a good record in placements.
