National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) is an institute deemed to be a university located in Sonepat, Haryana.

It offers an educational curriculum in food technology and supplies in (B.Tech), (M.Tech), and PhD degrees. The institute started with several Bachelor of Technology programs. Master of Technology programmes have been granted since the academic year 2012-13, and a PhD program was added from 2013-14. It was set with a primary expense of INR 500 crores, on 100 acres of land.

Admission can be done by direct application or by clearing entrance examinations.

New additions such as, In 2018, the Minister of Food Processing Industries inaugurated four incubation hubs for product examination and advancement and a food-testing laboratory, with an expenditure of INR 50 crores.

NIFTEM: Admissions

National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM) grants different degree applications to applicants at UG, PG, and PhD level. The programmes administered are mainly in the streams of Food Technology, Business & Management Studies and Engineering.

For Under Graduate courses candidates have to pass JEE Main cut-off for NIFTEM and courses will be allotted according to their merit score.

Post Graduate courses applicants have to pass GATE cut-off marks and score 60% aggregate marks and then appear for a PI (Personal Interview) round. NIFTEM conducts Common Entrance Exam in place of GATE examination for non-GATE applicants.

For MBA candidates, the university accepts the CAT and MAT scores for the merit listing of the applicants. Then valid candidates are required to attend the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI) round. The Candidates who have not appeared for the CAT or MAT examinations have to appear for the NIFTEM Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) conducted by the university.

Applicants who are foreign students/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can secure admission at NIFTEM in different UG/ PG/ PhD courses. Admissions at NIFTEM for foreign candidates are based on merit concluded through the candidate’s marks in the last qualifying exam.

Foreign applicants can attempt admission in various UG, PG, and PhD courses offered by the varsity under two categories:

NIFTEM: Scholarships

  • The Board of Management recommended the creation of a Scholarship Fund in NIFTEM by allocating 5% of its Revenue Income for allowance of the following scholarships:
    • Merit Scholarship
    • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
  • NIFTEM Merit Scholarship:The scholarship will be open to the first 3 students on excellence in B.Tech and one student on merit in each of the programmes of M.Tech. Thereafter toppers of the first year will be bestowed a scholarship for next year. It covers a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly pay for ten months.
  • NIFTEM Merit-cum-Means Scholarship:Institute merit-cum-means scholarship is bestowed to M.Tech. students of the institute strictly on merit-cum-means basis for needy students having household annual income from all sources not surpassing Rs. 2,50,000/-. 5% of students will be acknowledged for the award of scholarship i.e. six students in M.Tech. (one each in all the five streams). It includes a tuition fee waiver and a fixed monthly pay for ten months.

In the name of facilities, NIFTEM has one of the most diverse infrastructures and yet fulfilling the needs of the aspirants. Like,

  • CLASSROOMS: To produce a pleasant environment, favourable to learning, there are eight 100 seater and nine 25 seater classrooms. All the classrooms and tutorial rooms have been equipped with a multipurpose podium, projection system, etc.
  • LIBRARY: The NIFTEM Knowledge Centre (NKC) came into permanence as a part of the NIFTEM, Kundli. A multi-level five-storey 5474.29 sqmt. state-of-the-Art NKC is housed in an aesthetically composed boat-shaped building amidst the NIFTEM campus.

  • AUDITORIUM: The institute has a fully furnished auditorium with an accommodation capacity of 650.
