SMVDU UG and Integrated Admission

At the undergraduate level, SMVDU admits students to B.Tech and B.Arch through entrance examinations and counselling. B.Tech applicants must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board or an equivalent qualification. They also need a valid JEE Main or CUET UG score. Seat allocation takes place through SMVDU Direct Counselling, JoSAA or CSAB, as applicable.

For B.Arch, applicants need at least 50% in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Selection uses JEE Main or NATA scores, followed by the same counselling route used for B.Tech.

UG Application Process

Admission forms are accepted through the university’s official website. The application fee is INR 1,500. Applicants should keep the following records ready:

• A self-attested copy of the SSC certificate as proof of date of birth.
• A self-attested copy of the HSSE certificates.
• Self-attested copies of the bachelor’s or UG degree and mark sheets for every year or semester, where applicable.
• Two stamped envelopes carrying the applicant’s own address.
• The JEE Main registration card and rank card, or the SMVDUEE rank card, along with valid documents issued by the admission centre.
• Two additional stamped and self-addressed envelopes.
• A character certificate signed by the principal or registrar of the college or institute where the qualifying examination was taken.
• A migration or transfer certificate.
• 5 recent passport-size photographs.

JoSAA Seat Allocation

B.Tech seats are also allotted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, known as JoSAA. Students who have taken JEE Main or JEE Advanced should follow these conditions while registering:

• Applicants who qualify only through JEE Main can seek seat allocation to NITs.
• Students with a valid JEE Advanced result may select from all participating institutions.
• During registration, applicants may enter any number of choices and arrange them in decreasing order of preference.
• Choices must be locked for the applicant to be considered for allocation. A locked preference list cannot be changed.
• Seat allocation is conducted over 7 rounds with participation from all member institutions.
• A provisional seat is accepted only after payment of the acceptance fee.
• Students must report to the nearest JoSAA centre to have their documents verified.

JEE Main Application

The examination fee depends on the applicant category. General category applicants pay INR 325.

Documents needed for registration include:

• A recent scanned photograph, either in colour or clear black and white, saved in JPG or JPEG format. Its file size must be from 10 KB to 200 KB.
• A scanned signature in JPG or JPEG format with a file size from 4 KB to 30 KB.
• A clear photograph, since an application containing an unclear image will be rejected.

Registration Steps

• Open the official JEE Main website and select “Fill Online Application Form”.
• Enter the required personal information to create a user ID and password.
• An application number is issued after the registration details are submitted.
• Complete the form with personal, address and mobile number details.
• Choose a security question and password for later access to the application.
• Sign in with the same user ID and password, then submit the completed form.

Integrated Programmes

SMVDU also provides 5-year integrated courses. Entry is based on CUET UG, followed by SMVDU Direct Counselling. The course-wise academic requirements are listed below.

SMVDU PG Admission

Postgraduate options at SMVDU include M.Tech, M.Sc., M.A. and MBA. For M.Tech, applicants need an Engineering or Technology bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate in the relevant field. Admission is based on GATE or SMVDUEE and is completed through CCMT Counselling or SMVDU Direct Counselling.

M.Sc. selection uses SMVDUEE scores, after which the university prepares a merit list for admission to the chosen subject. MBA applicants may use CAT, MAT or CMAT for direct admission. Those without a qualifying national entrance score may apply through CUET PG. Qualified students are called for a group discussion and then a personal interview.

PG Application Process

PG applications must be filed online through the official university website with a fee of INR 1,500. The required documents are:

• A self-attested SSC certificate copy for proof of date of birth.
• A self-attested copy of the HSSE certificates.
• Self-attested copies of the bachelor’s or UG degree and the mark sheets from every year or semester.
• Self-attested copies of the CMAT, MAT, GATE or CCMT scorecard and the matching admit card.
• For MBA or M.Tech applicants, the relevant entrance documents or an SMVDUEE rank card.
• A character certificate signed by the principal or registrar of the institution where the qualifying examination was completed.
• A migration certificate.
• 5 recent passport-size photographs.

CCMT Counselling

M.Tech admission is also conducted through CCMT Counselling in Jharkhand. Eligible applicants must register online through the official CCMT website.

Eligibility Conditions

• Applicants must hold a valid GATE qualification and must have completed BE or B.Tech with a CGPA of 6.5 or 60% for the general or unreserved category. The required score for the reserved category is 55%.
• A provisional certificate may be used when the institution has not issued the final result. The final scores must still be submitted within the stated deadline.
• GATE-qualified applicants receive consideration before candidates applying through marks from the previous qualifying examination.

Note: A GATE-qualified student must apply on the official CCMT website to take part in counselling and admission.

GATE Application Requirements

GATE is required for applicants seeking admission to a master’s or Ph.D. programme through this route. Registration requires the following documents:

• A scanned photograph and signature.
• A valid photo ID, such as an Aadhaar Card, passport, driving licence, PAN Card, Voter ID, college ID, employee identification card, or a notarized affidavit containing the photograph, signature, date of birth and residential address.
• A degree certificate, provisional certificate or course completion certificate.
• A copy of the mark sheet for the V, VI or VII semester.
• Final-year students must provide a provisional certificate letter in the format issued by the head of institution, dean, registrar or head of department.
• A final-year AMIE applicant with a professional equivalent qualification must submit the Section A AMIE mark sheet.
• A caste certificate or disability or PwD certificate, if applicable.
• Applicants pursuing a master’s or another higher degree must provide the certificate for the qualifying degree.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted through the official GOAPS website. Each applicant must first create a new registration using one unique email ID.

SMVDU Ph.D. Admission

Ph.D. admission requires an entrance examination followed by a personal interview. Direct consideration is available to applicants who qualify through UGC NET, JRF, SLET or GATE because they do not have to take the university entrance test. Other applicants are shortlisted for the university examination using marks from their previous qualification.

Ph.D. Application and Selection

The online Ph.D. application carries a fee of INR 1,500. After clearing the required entrance stage, applicants must attend the interview in person.

Final selection also considers the applicant’s subject knowledge and submitted research proposal. Preference is generally given to candidates with GATE or NET qualifications.
