BPUT Courses and Fees

CUPGS directly runs B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA, B.Pharm, B.Arch, BHMCT and Ph.D courses. BPUT also sets the syllabus and holds examinations for its network of more than 137 affiliated colleges. The total fee for the four-year B.Tech course at CUPGS is INR 2.35 Lakhs.

Available B.Tech fields at CUPGS include CSE, IT, ECE, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Biotechnology, Aeronautical, Marine, Mining, Metallurgical, Environmental and Textile Engineering, along with other branches.

BPUT Admission Process

Entrance scores and counselling determine admission to BPUT programmes. OJEE manages B.Tech seat allocation for CUPGS and affiliated colleges, and JEE Main qualifiers enter the process through a separate merit list. Postgraduate applicants use the entrance test accepted for their chosen course.

B.Tech Admission

Applicants must pass Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secure at least 45% in aggregate. The required minimum for SC and ST applicants is 40% in PCM. A valid OJEE rank or JEE Main score is also needed. Diploma holders with 45% marks and eligible B.Sc graduates may seek lateral entry into the second year. JEE Main scores may also apply to direct-entry or lateral-entry routes offered by affiliated colleges, wherever permitted.

1. Qualify through OJEE or JEE Main and register on the OJEE counselling portal.
2. Enter preferred colleges and engineering branches during choice filling.
3. Check the seat allotment issued during the three counselling rounds.
4. Accept the allotted seat and pay the admission fee to complete confirmation.

M.Tech Admission

For M.Tech, BPUT gives priority to GATE scores and also considers OJEE M.Tech results. Applicants need a B.Tech or BE in a relevant field with at least 60% aggregate. Their GATE paper must match the selected M.Tech specialisation.

MBA Admission

MBA applicants need a bachelor's degree with a minimum aggregate of 50%. BPUT accepts CAT, MAT, XAT and OJEE MBA scores. Selection also includes a group discussion and a personal interview conducted at the university.

Ph.D Admission

BPUT directly conducts Ph.D admission twice each year, with sessions in January and July. A relevant postgraduate degree is required, along with GATE, UGC NET or CSIR NET qualification. Candidates sponsored by research institutions and project fellows may also apply.

BPUT Placements

CUPGS organises placements for students completing B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MCA and B.Pharm. Recruiters come from the steel, mining, information technology, manufacturing and banking sectors. Tata Steel BSL, located next to Rourkela, recruits for core engineering work, while Accenture, Infosys and Robert Bosch recruit students from CSE and IT.

CSE and IT report the strongest placement rates and receive technology-sector offers. Odisha's heavy-industry network supports opportunities for Mechanical, Civil, Mining and Metallurgical students, with Rourkela Steel Plant, NALCO and SAIL affiliates contributing to recruitment. MBA students secure positions in banking, financial services and operations.

BPUT Scholarships

BPUT Campus and Infrastructure

BPUT occupies a 139-acre campus at Kalinga Vihar in Rourkela, Odisha, located 7 km from the railway station and connected by road. The site contains CUPGS, university administration offices, a central library, departmental laboratories, separate hostels for boys and girls, sports grounds, a healthcare facility and a canteen.

Rourkela's industrial base includes the Rourkela Steel Plant operated by SAIL and other heavy industries, creating nearby opportunities for core engineering recruitment. The university is also close to NIT Rourkela and the city's wider technical education network.
