CSJMU Admission Dates 2026

CSJMU uses CUET-UG mainly for UG admission and CUET-PG mainly for PG admission. UIET engineering admission also accepts JEE Main scores. For the 2026-27 cycle, counselling activity is continuing after the CUET-UG 2026 result was announced in June 2026.

Students applying for UIET engineering courses can use valid JEE Main 2026 scores through the university counselling portal. For LLB at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Law, selection is based on qualifying exam marks and an internal entrance assessment.

CSJMU Courses and Fees

CSJMU runs direct programmes through its university institutes and also oversees more than 950 affiliated colleges. Its academic areas include Engineering, Science, Commerce, Arts, Law, Management, Pharmacy, Education, and Health Sciences.

The B.Tech fee changes by branch, with core engineering branches at the lower end and specialised programmes at the higher end. B.Sc fees also differ widely, as government-aided general science courses may cost under INR 1 Lakh, while self-financing applied science courses cost more. The fees listed above apply to the general category under the regular government quota. SC, ST, and OBC students can get fee waivers under state and central government schemes.

CSJMU Admission Process

CSJMU follows different admission routes for different courses. CUET is used for most UG and PG programmes, while some professional and technical courses follow separate entrance or merit rules.

UG Admissions: Most UG applicants need CUET-UG scores. Students register for CUET-UG, appear for the May exam, and then apply through the CSJMU centralised admission portal. Merit lists are prepared using CUET-UG subject scores and qualifying marks wherever needed. For B.Tech at UIET, JEE Main scores are also accepted, and Class 12 performance is considered in the final merit process.

PG Admissions: CUET-PG scores are used for most postgraduate courses, including MBA, MA, M.Sc, and M.Com. After taking CUET-PG, students register with CSJMU and take part in centralised counselling. MBA and MCA admission may also include internal entrance tests if the university decides to use them.

LLB and Law programmes: The Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Law uses CLAT scores for LLB (3-year) admission and merit-based selection for LLM. Other law programmes not covered by CLAT may require university-level entrance tests.

Eligibility: UG courses require 10+2 or an equivalent qualification with 45% to 50% marks, depending on the course and category. PG courses require a relevant Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks for general category students and 45% for reserved category students. SC, ST, and OBC applicants get qualifying mark relaxation as per UGC norms and Uttar Pradesh state government rules. Final-year UG students can apply provisionally for PG admission, but they must submit final marksheets before joining.

CSJMU Placements

The CSJMU placement cell works for students of the university’s direct-teaching departments, such as UIET, IBM, and science and commerce departments. Students in affiliated colleges take part in placement processes run by their own colleges.

Recruiters visiting direct-teaching departments include TCS, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Samsung Electronics, Oswal Chemicals, Scooter India, and Lohia Starlinger. UIET engineering students usually see the strongest average packages, with IT and electronics companies taking a major share in recruitment. IBM management graduates are hired for sales, operations, and banking roles in Kanpur and the wider Uttar Pradesh business region.

Kanpur’s industrial base also supports hiring. Leather goods, textiles, chemicals, and defence manufacturing create steady demand for engineering and science graduates. The 637 placed students from a batch of 1,893 cover direct-teaching department students only. Outcomes differ by stream, with engineering and management students seeing higher packages and more IT hiring, while science and arts students often move into SMEs, entry-level government roles, or self-employment. The city’s defence establishments and Central Ordnance Depot also create technical and administrative hiring opportunities from defence PSUs for eligible graduates.

CSJMU Rankings

CSJMU’s main quality recognition is its NAAC A++ accreditation, received in November 2023. It is among the few state affiliating universities in Uttar Pradesh with the highest NAAC grade. The university also has UGC Category I status and participates in NIRF categories.

CSJMU moved from a NAAC ’B’ grade in 2006 and 2015 to ’A++’ in 2023. The November 2023 assessment covered all seven NAAC criteria, including Teaching-Learning, Research, Infrastructure, and Governance. UGC Category I status gives the university more academic freedom to start new courses, open new campuses, and offer full online programmes. The NIRF Pharmacy 101-125 band applies specifically to the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. CSJMU also participates in NIRF Engineering, Management, Law, and Innovation categories.

CSJMU Scholarships

CSJMU students and students of its affiliated colleges can apply for central and state government scholarships. The university helps eligible students with scholarship portal access and documentation.

Central Government Scholarships: The Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana gives merit scholarships of INR 2,000 per month to UG students and INR 3,500 per month to PG students from SC and ST categories in non-technical courses. Students are identified during admission based on merit and income rules.

State Government Scholarships: Uttar Pradesh offers the Post-Matric Scholarship for SC, ST, OBC, and General category students whose family income is below the set limit. The Rani Laxmi Bai Scooty Yojana gives free scooties to meritorious girl students from Class 10 and 12 who later enrol in UP state universities. Most UP scholarship applications and disbursals are handled through the state scholarship portal.

CSJMU Campus and Infrastructure

CSJMU’s main campus is located in Kalyanpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It houses the university’s administrative offices, UIET engineering building, Institute of Business Management, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, law faculty, and several science and arts departments. Its Kalyanpur location gives students access to Kanpur’s industrial and IT areas.

The campus has a central library with more than 1.5 lakh books, along with digital journals and e-resources. Separate hostels are available for male and female students, though seats cover only part of the directly enrolled student strength. The university runs an Innovation Foundation for student startup and research projects. It also has active NSS and NCC units.
