KIT Kanpur Courses and Fees

KIT Kanpur runs more than 30 programmes in engineering, pharmacy, management, computer applications, and diploma education. The main course fees are given below.

The annual fee is higher for CSE and allied technology branches at INR 1,30,000. Traditional engineering branches such as Mechanical, ECE, EEE, and Biotechnology cost INR 75,000 per year. Hostel accommodation for boys and girls is available at up to INR 78,000 per year.

KIT Kanpur Admission Process

B.Tech Admission (State Quota and Management Quota)

KIT Kanpur fills B.Tech seats through two channels. The state quota covers 85% seats through UPTAC counselling, while the 15% management quota is handled through direct admission at kit.ac.in.

• Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, minimum 45% aggregate (40% for SC and ST candidates)
• Entrance: Valid JEE Main or CUET-UG score for state quota seats
• State quota: Register on uptac.samarth.edu.in, enter course and college choices, lock the choices, wait for seat allotment, and report to KIT for document checking

• UP domicile candidates must submit a valid domicile certificate during UPTAC choice filling

For UPTAC B.Tech counselling, KIT Kanpur accepts both JEE Main and CUET-UG. This gives students another route if they did not take JEE Main. For management quota admission, students need 45% in 10+2 PCM and do not need an entrance score.

MBA and MCA Admission

MBA and MCA seats are allotted through UPTAC counselling based on CUET PG scores. The MBA course has six specialisations: Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, International Business, and Operations.

• MBA eligibility: Graduation in any stream with at least 50% marks + valid CUET PG score
• MCA eligibility: Graduation with Mathematics, at least 50% marks + valid CUET PG score
• Process: Register on the UPTAC portal after the CUET PG result, fill choices, wait for allotment, and report for document verification

B.Pharm, Diploma, BBA, and BCA Admission

B.Pharm and diploma admissions are conducted through JEECUP counselling. For BBA and BCA, students apply directly to KIT and admission is based on merit. B.Pharm applicants need 10+2 with PCB or PCM and at least 50% marks.

KIT Kanpur Placements

The Training and Placement Cell at KIT Kanpur manages campus recruitment for eligible students from engineering, management, and pharmacy programmes. In 2025, the highest package reached INR 40 LPA, and students received more than 3,000 offers from 300+ companies. The placement rate was 94% for eligible students.

For UG graduates, the NIRF-reported median salary is INR 6 LPA. Most placement volume comes from core IT mass recruiters, while CSE, AI, and Data Science students receive most of the top-package offers.

From the second year onward, the Training and Placement Cell trains students in technical aptitude, coding, group discussions, and communication skills. BBA and MBA students go through a separate recruitment process managed by the management placement cell.

KIT Kanpur students may apply for government scholarship schemes and AICTE scholarships. Reserved-category students with UP domicile can use state government scholarship schemes.

KIT Kanpur Campus and Infrastructure

KIT Kanpur is based on NH-2 in Kanpur and has separate blocks for engineering, management, pharmacy, and polytechnic studies. The campus facilities include computer labs, science laboratories, a pharmacy research lab, a library with digital access, and a seminar hall.

Hostels for boys and girls are available on campus, with annual charges up to INR 78,000. Students also have access to cricket and football grounds, indoor games, a medical centre, a cafeteria, and transport services.

The institute has an Entrepreneurship Development Cell and takes part in technical festivals organised by AKTU. For MBA and BBA students, the management department supports live projects and industry visit programmes.

KIT Kanpur vs PSIT Kanpur vs GL Bajaj Greater Noida

Students comparing private AKTU-affiliated engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh often look at KIT Kanpur, PSIT Kanpur, and GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management, Greater Noida. Each of these colleges is affiliated with AKTU, admits students through UPTAC and JEE Main, and offers a similar set of programmes.

PSIT Kanpur has a higher NAAC grade of A+ and is visible in the NIRF 151 to 200 band. KIT Kanpur has the lower total fee for traditional engineering branches such as ECE and Mechanical at INR 3 lakhs.
