AKTU Admission 2024 is ongoing for degree courses based on JEE Main, CUET, and NATA scores.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is a state technical university set up by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 26 July 2000. It started as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) and was renamed AKTU in 2015 to honour Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India and scientist. The university is recognised by UGC and AICTE, and it works as an affiliating university for the whole state of Uttar Pradesh.
AKTU has a NAAC A+ grade after reassessment in November 2025. Its Faculty of Architecture and Planning, which is a constituent unit, holds the 39th rank in NIRF Architecture 2025. AKTU is not listed in the NIRF University category because it functions mainly as an affiliating technical university, not as a regular residential university.
The university has its administrative campus at Jankipuram, Lucknow, spread across 50 acres. It affiliates more than 800 institutions through five management zones in Uttar Pradesh, and more than 4 lakh students study under it every academic year.
For constituent units, the full B.Tech fee is INR 4.02 Lakhs, while AI and AI-ML branches cost INR 4.62 Lakhs. The MBA fee is INR 1.83 Lakhs for two years. Private affiliated colleges decide their own fee structures.

B.Tech general branches run for 4 years and need 10+2 with PCM along with JEE Main or CUET UG. B.Tech in AI and AI-ML also has a 4-year duration and follows the same basic eligibility. B.Arch is a 5-year course requiring 10+2 with NATA or JEE Main Paper 2. MBA and MCA are 2-year postgraduate courses. MBA needs graduation with CUET PG, CAT, or MAT, while MCA needs BCA or B.Sc in CS/IT with CUET PG. M.Tech is a 2-year course for B.Tech graduates, with GATE preferred. B.Pharm and BHMCT are 4-year UG courses, and Ph.D. usually takes 3 to 5 years after a relevant postgraduate degree.
B.Tech branches include CSE, IT, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical, Biomedical, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Food Technology, Textile Technology, Aeronautical Engineering, and other specialisations. AI-based B.Tech branches such as Artificial Intelligence and AI-ML have a higher fee component.
AKTU admissions are carried out through Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) for many UG and PG programmes. The counselling process covers B.Tech, B.Arch, MBA, MCA, B.Pharm, and BHMCT seats in AKTU-affiliated colleges.

B.Tech admission in AKTU-affiliated colleges is based on two merit routes: JEE Main and CUET UG. Both score routes are used in UPTAC seat allotment for more than 85,000 B.Tech seats across the state.
For B.Arch, students need either a valid NATA score or JEE Main Paper 2 score, followed by UPTAC counselling. At AKTU's Faculty of Architecture and Planning, the General Category JEE Main cutoff for B.Arch usually stays in the 70 to 85 percentile range in recent admission cycles.
MBA applicants can use CUET PG, CAT, MAT, CMAT, or ATMA scores. They must have a graduation degree in any stream with at least 50% marks, or 45% marks for reserved categories. After UPTAC seat allotment, selection continues through document verification and college-level counselling. MCA admission needs BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT), or a degree with Mathematics at the 10+2 level, along with a valid CUET PG score.
B.Pharm and BHMCT admissions are based on CUET UG through UPTAC. B.Pharm applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics in 10+2. BHMCT accepts students from any 10+2 stream. The counselling schedule is released on uptac.admissions.nic.in with the B.Tech rounds.
For M.Tech admission at AKTU constituent colleges, candidates with a valid GATE score are preferred, but non-GATE candidates may also apply. Ph.D. admission is handled directly by AKTU and its constituent units. Students need a relevant postgraduate degree and must clear the entrance test or meet the exemption rules under UGC norms.
AKTU is an affiliating university, so placements are not run through one central process for all colleges. Each affiliated or constituent college manages placements through its own placement cell. The figures below are for IET Lucknow, AKTU's flagship constituent engineering college, for the 2024-25 season.

IET Lucknow recruiters include TCS, Wipro, Accenture, Tech Mahindra, IBM, Oracle, CDK Global, JUSPAY, and OPTUM. Placement results differ across the 800+ affiliated colleges. Leading AKTU-affiliated private colleges such as JSS Noida and KIET Ghaziabad report average packages in the INR 6 to 10 LPA range, while newer affiliated colleges usually report INR 3 to 5 LPA.
At constituent units, M.Tech and MBA students usually receive average packages between INR 5 to 7 LPA. Finance and analytics specialisations are generally at the higher end. B.Arch graduates from the Faculty of Architecture and Planning report a postgraduate median salary of INR 6.91 LPA.
AKTU received a NAAC A+ grade after its reassessment in November 2025. Its Faculty of Architecture and Planning is ranked by NIRF under the Architecture category.

Students studying in AKTU-affiliated colleges can apply for state and central government scholarships. The main support option is the Uttar Pradesh Post-Matric Scholarship, also called Dashmottar, which provides fee reimbursement to eligible students from reserved categories.

For the 2026-27 session, the UP Post-Matric scholarship application window opened on 15 September 2026 and closes on 20 December 2026. Students must first create an OTR, or One Time Registration, number through the UP Scholarship and Fee Reimbursement Online System.
AKTU's administrative and constituent campus is in Jankipuram, Lucknow, and covers 50 acres. This campus includes the central university offices, the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, the Centre for Advanced Studies, and the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Design (UPID), Noida.

Anna University has the strongest NIRF position and stronger placement results at its top affiliated colleges, helped by Chennai's technology and manufacturing base. AKTU has the largest institutional scale in Uttar Pradesh and acts as the main route for technical education in the state. GTU plays a similar role in Gujarat's industrial education system, especially for Mechanical and Civil engineering linked to manufacturing.
Ques. Should students choose AKTU for B.Tech?
Ans. AKTU supervises more than 800 engineering colleges in Uttar Pradesh, so the experience depends a lot on the college. Colleges such as KIET Ghaziabad, JSS Noida, and Galgotias University have good infrastructure and average placements of INR 6 to 10 LPA. Students should check the ranking and placement record of the exact affiliated college they want, instead of judging only by the AKTU name.
Ques. Which NAAC grade does AKTU have?
Ans. AKTU has a NAAC A+ grade. This grade was awarded after reassessment in November 2025. The university was first given an A grade and then received the higher grade after revaluation.
Ques. What happens in UPTAC counselling for B.Tech seats under AKTU?
Ans. UPTAC, or Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling, handles seat allotment for B.Tech colleges affiliated with AKTU. Students register on the UPTAC portal, enter their JEE Main or CUET UG scores, fill college and branch choices, and get allotment letters through multiple rounds. UP domicile students can compete for 85% of seats, while 15% seats are open to students from all states. Special rounds are held later for vacant seats.
Ques. Is there a fixed JEE Main percentile needed for AKTU B.Tech?
Ans. AKTU does not set one central minimum JEE Main percentile for all B.Tech admissions. Cutoffs change by college and branch. For CSE in top AKTU-affiliated colleges, students usually need JEE Main percentiles of 85 and above. Lower-demand branches and colleges may admit students with lower percentiles in special rounds. Students without JEE Main scores can also use CUET UG scores.
Ques. Can AKTU students apply for UP government scholarships?
Ans. Yes. SC, ST, and OBC students studying in AKTU-affiliated colleges can apply for the UP Post-Matric Scholarship, also known as Dashmottar. The course and curriculum of the University are very good and related to real world applications. The teacher are very experienced and helping in nature. In one semester 3 internal exams- 2 sessional and 1 PUT after that external exam conducted.
50-60% student get good placement wll reputed companies, curriculum was excellent. College provide us internship for better future and experience. After completing the 3rd year the students are eligible to sit in campus placement.

The placement opportunities are quite descent, better than most of the private colleges. From 3rd year you can sit for college placement rounds. They also great internship opportunities from 2nd year onwards. However it's difficult to grab internisps because you have to prepare for the interview round.

Criteria for the placement is completing the 4 years after btech and my opinion the placement in our college is not too good so if u want to place after 4 years you have to choose better than this...because here placement is not too good.

Till now I am in my 1st year ,so cant say much about the placement and job facility by the college, but the seniors those have graduated have been given average package of 6,50,000 and the package ranges upto 10,00,000 ,which is pretty good as this fee structure.
