NIT Sikkim Application Process 2025

There are certain seats reserved for students in various courses. Candidates can apply for them. For B.Tech, aspiring candidates must apply for JEE Mains conducted by the National Testing Agency. For M.Tech, candidates must apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) through the official portal. This exam is conducted annually by various IITs. Candidates can also get admission into NIT Sikkim without GATE through IAT (Institute Admission Test). For MSc, candidates need to apply for IIT JAM through the official portal, and for PhD, UGC NET or any other national level PhD entrance exams followed by a personal interview.

Application is done through online only. Candidates can visit the official website of the Institute and register. The application fee for M.Tech and M.Sc courses is INR 300 for OBC/OC/Sponsored and INR 100 for ST/SC/PWD/EWS categories.

Ans. For any of its programs, NIT Sikkim does not provide direct admission to students. JEE Main, GATE, and IIT JAM are a few examples of national entrance exams that are officially used to determine admissions. For further selection, the institute may additionally administer a written exam and a face-to-face interview.

Ques. What is the NIT Sikkim seat distribution procedure?

Ans. The CSAB conducts the JoSAA counseling to provide seats for B.Tech students. The CCMT counseling process is used to assign seats for the M.Tech program, and the CCMN counseling process is used to assign seats for the M.Sc program.

Ques. Is the NIT Sikkim branch changing option available?

Ans. Students may alter their branch in the third semester if they earned a CGPA of 7.5 or above during the first two semesters.
